Jeannie
Ozon er en kanadisk billedkunstner, bosatt i
Kristiansand siden 1997. Hun har sin utdannelse fra Halifax,
Canada, og arbeider med maleri, grafikk og skulptur. Hennes
atelier befinner seg på Myren Gård.
Jeannie
Ozon is a Canadian artist, living in Kristiansand since
1997. She has her education from Halifax, Canada, and works
with painting, printmaking and sculpture. Her studio is located at
Myren Gård in Kristiansand.
Sentralt i hennes arbeider er sterke farger, mønster og rytme.
Med bakgrunn i nordamerikansk kultur er Pop Art og abstrakt
ekspresjonisme blant inspirasjonskildene hennes. Dristige
fargesammensetninger og komposisjoner overføres med høy
energi direkte til lerretet.
Central to Ozon‘s work are bright colors, pattern and rhythm.
With a background in North American culture, Pop Art and
abstract expressionism are among her sources of inspiration. Bold
color combinations and compositions are transferred directly to
the canvas with high intensity.
Med denne utstillingen returnerer Ozon til sirkelmotivet, etter en
lengre periode borte fra det. Sirklene er lukkede former, åpne
for fortolkning. De symboliserer kjerne og helhet. Samtidig er
de en meditasjon over livets sykliske natur og de gjentakende
mønstrene vi finner i naturen, livet og historien.
With this exhibition, Ozon revisits the circular motif, after having
been away from it for a long period. The circles are closed forms,
open to interpretation. They symbolize core and whole. At the
same time, they are a meditation on the cyclical nature of life and
the repeating patterns that we find in nature, in life and history.
I de eldre arbeidene tjener sirklene i utgangspunktet som
redskap for eksperimenter i farge og flate. I de nyeste
arbeidene er sirklene fremdeles tilstede, men denne gangen
i en mer utflytende og mykere form. Utstillingen bringer
sammen arbeider fra de siste to tiårene. På den måten er også
utstillingen et eksempel på en syklus.
In the older works, the circles serve first and foremost as vehicles
for experiments with color and surface. While the circles are still
present in the newer works, this time around they take on a less
focused, softer quality. The exhibition brings together works from
the past two decades. As such, the exhibition itself is yet another
example of a cycle.
