National Baseball Hall of Fame Library, Cooperstown, NY. The Library has extensive
files on Jackie Robinson, including clippings and correspondence to and from him, plus
most of the books listed in Sections I, II, and III of this bibliography. The Library’s
special holdings relating to Jackie Robinson include a transcript of his 1944 court martial trial, a copy of his FBI file, a scrapbook covering his career, and a draft of a 1962
Martin Luther King speech about him. The Library also has the Wendell Smith Papers, a
collection of Smith’s Pittsburgh Courier columns from the integration period. In addition,
the Hall of Fame’s Photo Collection includes more than 250 individual and team
photographs of Robinson, and the Film, Video, and Recorded Sound Collection has many
titles available for visitor viewing and listening. Hall of Fame Library collections are
accessible to the public free of charge; appointments are suggested. For those unable to
do research in person, copies of articles and photographs are available for a nominal fee.
