Clinical/Research Interests
Autoimmune reactions within the eye develop in association with a variety of different
cancers, and in patients for whom there is no immediate explanation for their
continuing loss of vision. The Ocular Immunology laboratory provides the means to
detect abnormal antibody activity with a collection of ten ocular antigens described in
the published literature as having an immunologic connection with vision loss. In
doing so, the lab provides the clinician with insight into a possible explanation for the
patient’s problem, and guidance towards the appropriate medical intervention.
