Dear Friends of Special Spaces.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our 2013 Annual Report. We are
extremely proud of our accomplishments and growth during 2013. That could not
have been achieved without the generous gifts of time, talent and treasure from
all of our donors, directors, board members and volunteers. We are extremely
grateful for your support.
We have come a long way since the inception of Special Spaces in July of
2004. The amount of rooms that were created in one year in Knoxville are being
created in 3 weekends across the country. Looking back over the last year, we
have accomplished so much. To date we have 30 volunteer directors in 19 states and
are very proud of our 30 volunteer directors. A child’s life changing room makeover could not have been
accomplished without their dedication to our mission.
We look forward to expanding even further in 2014. Our 2014 Strategic Plan will be to implement State Director
programs in Texas, Wisconsin, Illinois and California. These directors will help to grow these states in order
to provide more children with their dream bedrooms. They will be reaching out to individuals who would like
to continue our work under their guidance and support. Our 2014 room makeover goal is to change over 200
children’s lives across the United States. We know that this is an achievable goal and hope you will continue to
support our simple but zealous mission.
Thank you so much for all of your support of these amazing children whether your gift is small or large, we
extend our sincerest appreciation for your commitment and support of our children facing their toughest battle.

“It’s very rewarding,” said Tammy Granger,
lead designer on the room. “You think you’re
going to be a blessing to them but at the
end of the day you realized you were the
one that was blessed.”

In September 2013, Special
Spaces received a call from NBC
Studios to come up to New York
to do a room makeover with the
support of their crew. Gianni, 9
years old, is battling a form of childhood cancer.
His dream bedroom was the Avenger Theme! So
with the help of Al Roker, Natalie Morales and
Willie Geist from the Today Show, Gianni’s dream
bedroom was created!

I can speak to the integrity of this program as I
participated in a room make over. My eight hours of
observations and efforts were amazing. The common
good being addressed by common people to create
a unique (hardly common environment) for a special
family was an experience I will never forget.
