This year’s fair features activities appealing to all ages and highlights the fair’s strong focus on agriculture, 4-H and FFA exhibits, and shows. The county fair features exciting entertainment this year with county music newcomers, The Henningsens, on Friday night and a tribute to Rock n’ Roll on Saturday night. Besides having the opportunity to enjoy local talents, heritage and safety displays, the Cruise-In car show, Bull Riding, carnival rides, and competitions ranging from Tamale Making to International Dog Flyball, this year there are two new additions for you to explore: Splash n’ Dash Fun Run on Saturday morning and Caged Wars IV Saturday evening. Please join us on Thursday at 4:30 PM in the Americraft/Jackman Long Building for a special event called “A Tribute to Veterans” honoring veterans, service members and families in our community. The public and all military branches, from all eras, are invited to attend. The Marion County Fair is committed to the promotion of innovative energy conservation and recycling ideas and is again featuring Living Green and Zero Waste throughout the fairgrounds. We thank you for joining us in meeting the growing demands of sustainable recycling efforts. Everyday you’ll find free fair activities for children, teens, and adults. And, of course, everyone enjoys great fair food. We hope you’ll find “Fun for the Whole Herd” at the 2014 Marion County Fair! Kevin Cameron Sam Brentano Marion County Fair Foundation Marion County has a long tradition of an excellent and robust county fair. It is an annual showcase of our agricultural community and, especially, a recognition of the efforts of youth in agriculture. The Marion County Fair Foundation, initiated in 2010, is committed to sustaining this tradition. We are excited about this new foundation and encourage your support and contributions. Through the Marion County Fair Foundation, you can: • Share your love of the Marion County Fair and preserve the experience for generations to come. • Aid 4-H and/or FAA youth to bring their projects to the Marion County Fair. “Please consider donating to the Marion County Fair Foundation at P.O. Box 9141 • Brooks, Oregon 97305.” Janet Carlson T hank You for Supporting Children in Need! In partnership with the Marion County Fair Board, fair tickets were given to local children & families in need by local businesses. These tickets were made possible by generous sponsorship support. The community tickets program (Tickets For those Who Need Us Most) were distributed through the Boys & Girls Club, Marion County Community Services, and local church and school groups. “These tickets make it possible for families to experience the fair. This program started six years ago, and we have seen a growing need each year. The Fair Board knows the importance of agricultural education for our community, and it’s an important way of fulfilling the County Fair’s mission: To promote the diverse agricultural and cultural heritage of Marion County through active participation of its citizens”, says Fair Coordinator Dean Sweeney 4 THURSDAY, July 10 • SENIOR DAY • FREE (62+) sponsored by: All Day Highlights: Senior Day, 4-H FFA Events, Knitting & Spinning, Woodcarvers, Boys & Girls Club Kids Activities, Senior Trade Show, Aurora Colony Museum “Alive in 1865,” Wheel Chair Basketball, Gold Panning, Free Bingo, Quilting with Activities for Children, Schnitzelbank- Wood Working Activities for Kids, Salem Keizer Education Foundation Build-It Zone. To introduce the group, they are Brian Henningsen (bass, guitar, vocals) – family patriarch and father of 10 including eldest son Aaron (guitar, vocals) and daughter Clara (lead vocals, guitar). 6 SATURDAY, July 12 • AGRICULTURE DAY All Day Highlights: Ag Day, Barnyard Splash N Dash Fun Run, Home Depot Kids Workshop, Salem Keizer Education Foundation Build-It Zone, Knitting & Spinning, Woodcarvers, Boys & Girls Club Kids Activities, Bull Riding & Tribute Bands In Concert, Rug Hooking, Wheelchair Basketball, Quilting activities for children, SchnitzelbankWood Working Activities for Kids.
