AVON, CARMELO ANTHONY AND THE CARMELO ANTHONY
FOUNDATION TEAM WITH FEED THE CHILDREN
TO HELP NEW YORK CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN NEED
Bronx, N.Y. (Nov. 20, 2013) – On Friday, Nov. 15, Feed The Children is partnering with AVON and
Professional basketball all-star Carmelo Anthony and the Carmelo Anthony Foundation to provide 800
families living in the Bronx with food, essentials and turkeys. The distribution will take place at Madison
Square Boys & Girls Club (1665 Hoe Ave.) beginning at 3:30 p.m.
This distribution is part of our ongoing commitment to help families recovering from Hurricane Sandy. Since
Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast in 2012, Feed The Children has sent nearly three million pounds of food
and essentials to help communities with recovery efforts.
Feed The Children partner agency Madison Square Boys & Girls Club has pre-identified families receiving the
boxes. Each family will receive a 25-pound box of food and a 10-pound box of personal care items. The
boxes are designed to help a family of four for up to one week.
More than one in four children living in New York City (30 percent) is considered impoverished. In fact, the
number of children living in poverty in New York (900,626) could fill Madison Square Garden more than 45
times.
“We are so excited and proud to team with Carmelo Anthony and AVON,” said Kevin Hagan, CEO and
President of Feed The Children. “There are families living in New York City who are still recovering from
Hurricane Sandy and this distribution will help us fulfill our mission that no child or family should go to bed
hungry.”
Also on Nov. 15 Carmelo Anthony and the Carmelo Anthony Foundation is sponsoring a food distribution in
Baltimore, Maryland with Love Crowd Christian Light Church. Boxes of food and essentials will benefit 400
families in Carmelo’s hometown of Baltimore.
