Dear Sacred Heart School Family –
The first P.A.S.S. distribution date for our talented staff is fast approaching. Thank you to all of the
families who have contributed to this very important program in the past!
What is P.A.S.S.? Parent Assisted Salary Supplement
P.A.S.S is designed to help reduce the 25% pay gap that exists between the public
school teacher salaries and those set by the Archdiocese
P.A.S.S is funded entirely by the voluntary, tax deductible donations of SHS parents
100% of all donations are paid to SHS teachers and staff
100% of school families are encouraged to participate. It takes a village !

Our goal is 100% participation in the P.A.S.S. program this year
Each Sacred Heart family is encouraged to contribute $1,000 per child K-8, and $500 per child in
Preschool or JK. If this amount is not feasible, please know that a donation of any amount to
P.A.S.S. is not only encouraged, but also vital to the success of the program.
Thank you for your support and for helping Sacred Heart School achieve its goal of 100%
participation in this important program

Marillac House is vital part of Chicago’s West side meeting the needs of struggling families for
one hundred years. Please help us give the gift of Christmas dinner to our families.
We are asking for your help and generosity to provide 250 Marillac families with Christmas
Dinner. Times are hard everywhere and our food pantry is finding it difficult to meet the
increasing needs of families. We provide a turkey, but are in need of donations for the side
dishes. Please consider reaching out to families in need this holiday season by donating your
grade’s assigned items.

2nd Annual
Busy Person’s
Retreat
for Advent
The Busy Person’s Retreat is designed for people who cannot get away for
a weekend or longer retreat. It offers you an opportunity to deepen your
relationship with God as you prepare for the birth of Christ during Advent.
The goal of the retreat is very simple: to come into closer contact with God
by means of intentional & focused prayer, with the help of a spiritual
guide.
Participants attend a short opening and closing prayer service, commit to
15 minutes of prayer each day over a two week period; and meet with an
assigned spiritual guide 3 times during the same 2 week period (at a
convenient time for the two of you). This program is open to anyone - no
experience required AND it’s a great way to experience Advent! Note:
It’s okay to make the retreat again if you attended last year.
If you are interested in participating in the Retreat, contact Judy
Pyke at the Parish Office or [email protected]. Important dates
for you to know: Opening prayer service & Introductory Meeting –
Monday, December 2rd at 7pm in the Parish Office Fireplace Room.
Closing Prayer Service for all participants - Saturday December 14th at
9:30am in the Fireplace Room.

Christmas SHaring with
St. Columbanus!
Once again, our Sharing Parishes Committee is sponsoring a Christmas
Sharing with the families of St. Columbanus, who need our assistance
especially this Christmas.
We are asking Sacred Heart families to share the Joy of Christmas with a
St. Columbanus family.
How Can You Help?
There are three ways to participate:
Option #1: Adopt a St. Columbanus family by purchasing a present for each
family member. See Bulletin Board in the Church to choose your family.
Drop off of gifts is December 12th and 13th.
Option #2: You can donate money to purchase Jewel Grocery gift cards for
St. Columbanus families without sponsoring a family. Please take an envelope
and send a check made out to Sacred Heart to the Parish Office by no later
than December 7th.
Option #3: If you feel able, you can do both of the above.
Do you have any questions? Need more information?
Can you volunteer with Drop Off on Friday Dec. 12 (4-7pm),
Saturday Dec 13 (9am-Noon) or Load the Truck on Sunday Dec 14
(11:30am)? All in the Church/Gathering Space this year.
Call or email Judy Pyke at
