1. A Historical Moment - Round Campus Run 歷史性的一刻 - 環校跑
Student runners had a refreshing journey running along Wu Yee Sun College, United College, and New Asia College with autumn breeze.
The first Round Campus Run was held on 14th Nov and attracted 170 participants from various colleges. We were honoured to have the
presence of Professor Rance P.L. Lee (李沛良教授), College Master, Professor Sunny K.S. Kwong (鄺啟新教授), College Associate Master
and Dean of General Education, Professor Kam-fai Wong (黃錦輝教授 ), College Fellow and Chairman of Personal Growth and College Life
Committee, and Ms. Sandy P.S. Lee (李珮珊女士), College Secretary, as our guests on that day.
Congratulations to Wu Yee Sun College for winning the Inter-College Champion, as well as the winners of individual race, Mr. Suen-yin
Yue (余宣賢同學) and Miss Caroline Schiller for being the champion for men and women respectively.
2. Second High Table Dinner 2014/15 – A Glimpse of the Future (Speakers: Mr. Alick W.K. Koo and fellow Entrepreneurs)
2014/15年度第二次高桌晚宴 – 洞窺未來 (講者: 顧維剛先生及同行企業家)
The second College High Table Dinner of 2014/15, entitled ‘A Glimpse of the Future’ (“洞窺未來”), was successfully held last Thursday.
Mr. Alick W.K. Koo (顧維剛先生) and fellow Entrepreneurs shared with students their experience in creating and running their own
business. They also encouraged students to have a positive outlook on life, plan well, and most importantly, take action to do what
students are passionate about, regardless of industry.

3. "Shining Love" Scholarships Presentation Ceremony "陽光獻愛"獎學金頒獎典禮
Congratulations to Miss Yuk-wun Ho (何鈺媛同學), our College student, for receiving the Shining Love Scholarship (「陽光獻愛」獎學金計
劃) sponsored by Sun International Financial Group (太陽國際金融集團). She conducted her project last summer with her teammates and
provided in CUHK campus fundamental English lessons to new arrival children. This service-learning project allowed university students to
realize social responsibility by helping children in need with their English language skills.

4. Drama Performance: Galileo 伽俐略教習劇場
Jointly organized by Wu Yee Sun College, Shaw College, United College and Chung Chi College, Galileo was successfully held on 12th and
13th Nov. This drama performance allowed two-way interaction and invited audiences to participate in the performance through actions
including role-playing. The audiences were further inspired by a post-show discussion with actors and the director of the drama, Mr. Hardy
S.C. Tsoi (蔡錫昌先生), Senior College Tutor of our College.
5. College Term-long Exchange Programme Introduction Session 書院交換生計劃簡介會
An introduction session was held last Tuesday, 11th Nov. Prof. Ming-chung Chu (朱明中教授), College Fellow and Chairperson of Student
Exchange Committee, introduced the new partner institutes. We also invited two incoming exchange students from Sweden and Germany,
Mr. Mathias M. Lindh and Mr. Mathias A. Schoener, to share their lives and studies in their respective home country. The participants also
enjoyed a video sharing by a College student currently going exchange in Germany.

6. College Student Advisor Scheme Gatherings 師生茶聚
College Student Advisor Scheme was launched in early September with the support from 49 advisors. Dr. Victor S.K. Lee (李仕權博士),
College Fellow and Executive Director of The Hong Kong Management Association, met with the students and explored College life together
last week.
It would be fun to meet students and teacher from diversified backgrounds. Take the initiative to contact your advisors and other Sunnies for
more gatherings!
7. Toastmasters Club: 3rd Regular Meeting
Wu Yee Sun College Toastmasters Club has just held its 3rd regular meeting with the theme of "Theme". Theme is not just something in
literature, but is something central to all of us. Participants all found their own themes through that interesting 2-hour meeting. Guests from
MDC Toastmasters Club, Shaw College Toastmasters Club, and Polytechnic University Toastmasters Club also participated in the meeting.
Don't miss the last chance to join the fun in this semester and come to Toastmasters Club meeting on 25th Nov! It would be a nice break from
all the essays, projects and finals!

8. Green Ambassador Scheme Meeting
The Green Ambassador Scheme is organised by the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change (賽馬會氣候變化博物館) for students of the
University. Green Ambassadors would be provided with the opportunities be the guide of museum tour and the Eco-tours in the University.
Moreover, Green Ambassadors of each college would promote different green activities in their own college.
Green Ambassadors of different Colleges met last week in a meeting organised by the Scheme. Ambassadors of our College and United
College discussed their respective college green activities and facilities during the meeting.

Wu Yee Sun College full-time undergraduate students are now invited to apply for the Reaching Out Award 2014/15 (ROA) offered by the
HKSAR Government. These awards, in the amount of HK$10,000 each, aim to support students to participate in events/competitions (e.g.
conferences/forums/workshops/seminars/training camps/competitions/service projects etc.), internships or placements (creditbearing/non-credit bearing), field/study trips or courses (e.g. foreign language immersion programmes/academic exchange programmes

Mingle Fund aims at encouraging interaction among local, international and incoming exchange students of Wu Yee Sun College. The
Fund supports self-initiated activities with participation of both local and international/ incoming exchange students.
Successful applicants will receive subsidy on reimbursement basis. For each successful application, each participant may receive, at most,
HK$100 subsidy for the activity.

3. Global Academic Exposure Award Scheme 寰宇學術探索計劃
If you are planning to expand your academic exposure with support from the scheme, ACT NOW!
The scheme supports Wu Yee Sun College students to take part in or self-initiate academic programmes, such as academic conferences,
competitions, field trips and language programmes outside Hong Kong. During the past academic year, the scheme has supported
students to South India, Belgium, Inner-Mongolia and so on!
Students who were successfully selected by the Scheme will be awarded the Global Academic Exposure Award. The maximum award
amount varies with the length and nature of the programmes.

1. Chance Encounters in Modern Literature: a Reading Report
The Faculty of Arts will be having its 2nd Faculty colloquium talk (Term 1, 2014-15), to be given by Professor Leo O.F. Lee. The talk

2. Endeavour Merit Award 2014/15
The Endeavour Merit Award, supported by HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund, has been set up to give recognition to the extra efforts
made by meritorious students with the special educational needs (SEN) in overcoming various challenges so as to pursue post-secondary
education. The amount of each award will be HK$10,000 for both local and non-local students at all levels.

you with GPA of 3.7 or standing within top 3% of class? Don’t miss this opportunity of a life-changing experience.
HSBC Overseas Scholarship Scheme 2015/16 is now open for application. Full Scholarships of around HK$400,000 each, depending on the
destination and study programme, are available for non-final year full-time undergraduate student(s) to pursue one-year study abroad as a
VISITING STUDENT or an EXCHANGE STUDENT in Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand, Germany, The Netherlands, UK/Ireland,

5. Online Training Module on Preventing Sexual Harassment on Campus 「防止校園性騷擾」網上課程
This interactive on-line training module for tertiary institutes was launched by the Equal Opportunities Commission. It aims to raise
users' awareness of the behaviours that may constitute unlawful sexual harassment under the Sex Discrimination Ordinance in an
educational setting. One 8GB USB memory stick will be presented to registered users who have successfully completed the training
module as a token of their effort while stock lasts.
