Biology Teacher (English Section)
The prestigious European School of Brussels II in Woluwe is seeking an excellent
qualified teacher of Biology for its English speaking section. This is initially a temporary
post from 1st January until 31st August 2015. However, for an outstanding candidate,
there is every possibility that the contract will be renewed on 1st September 2015.
Successful candidates will be expected to teach Biology in accordance with
European Schools curriculum and the European Baccalaureate to students aged 1419yrs. See www.eusc.eu
The salary: €3.518,43 to €4.995,22 gross per month depending on the qualifications
and experience of the successful candidate.

Job Description
 To teach Biology across the secondary age range and, for this post in particular, to pupils aged 14-19 yrs in
accordance with European Schools science curriculum and the European Baccalaureate.
 To perform teaching and other duties in accordance with the European Schools conditions of employment
for part-time [locally recruited] teachers recruited after 31 August 2011.
 To contribute to the multicultural vibrancy of the school and support the European Dimension in all aspects
of a teacher’s work.

Person Specification
 Educated to university degree or post-graduate degree level at a recognized institution of higher education.
 Qualified to teach in a secondary school
 Preferably at least 5 years’ experience teaching Biology in a secondary school
 Evidence of excellent professional practice and student results
 Able to use English professionally at a level of at least ‘C1’ on the Common Framework of Reference of
Languages in Europe (CEFR)
 Fluent in more than one other language of the European Union
 Ability to work as member of team in an international and multilingual staff group
 Have high personal and professional standards
 Commitment to safeguarding of children and equality of opportunity
 Entitled to live and work in the European Union
