IBM Cognos Business Intelligence
IBM Cognos Mobile extends interactive Cognos Business Intelligence to a broad range of
mobile devices, including the Apple iPhone and iPad, Android phones, and BlackBerry phones
and Playbook. With a rich client, users can view and fully interact with Cognos reports,
dashboards, metrics, analysis and other information in a security-rich environment. Users
receive timely, informative and interactive information to support their decision-making,
regardless of location.
Cognos Mobile:
1) Supports a variety of mobile technologies with a rich, interactive BI interface.
2) Offers multimodal work options including real-time monitoring, GPS integration and
downloadable, offline reports.
3) Security protocols protect sensitive and proprietary business information.

Getting Started

When the application resets, click Cognos Mobile.

The following screen will appear:

To log on enter the user Admin, password is Education1! Then click Log In.

The Mobile client Welcome screen will appear:
As no reports have been run for this user recently, the Mobile space is empty.

Go to the Inbox for this user by clicking on the icon
We will run a bursted report and will send the output to the Mobile users.
Running a bursted report to be sent to Mobile users.
1. Bursting is the process of running a report once and then dividing the results for
recipients who each view a subset of the data. For example, salespeople in different
regions each need a report showing the sales target for their country or region. You use
burst reports to send each salesperson only the information they need.
You can distributed a burst report using the UserID and sending the output to the Mobile
Inbox.
2. Press the the Windows key on the keyboard and from the Start menu, click Internet
Explorer. The IBM Cognos BI welcome screen appears.
3. Click Log On.
4. Use the following credentials:
User Id - admin
Password - iodadmin
Click OK
5. Click the IBM Cognos Content link.

6. In IBM Cognos Connection navigate to Public Folders > Samples > Models > GO

Data Warehouse (query) > Report Studio Report Samples
7. Under Actions click Run with Options for the report Bursted Sales performance
Report
This report has been designed to burst to Directory entries.
8. On the Run with Options window, on the top right corner click Advanced options
9. Once the Run with advanced options window opens, select the check boxes for Burst
the report and Send the report to mobile recipients. Note that we will be not
specifying the mobile recipients, this will be done based on the directory entries set on

the burst key.
10. Click Run.
11. Click OK in the window to confirm the options that were selected
12. Back in the browser window for the Mobile client, click the Current User options

13. Click the Log Out option.
14. Re enter the user Admin, password Education1! Then click Log In.
15. Note that the Recent reports icon shows now a 1. Click the icon to review the content
16. Mobile client will show the burst output for this user as available

17. Click the Report icon. The report will display on the mobile client.

Close all windows. If prompted to save, select NO.
