EDMed professional development Planning for the return of a child who has suffered a serious illness can present challenges and questions for the teaching staff. EDMed is a free one-hour professional development presentation for school teachers that discusses some of the most common chronic illnesses and the impact of these conditions on school attendance and success. In the session we look at the issues that students who have been seriously ill, and their teachers, face when the students return to their normal classroom/school environment. Many of these students return to mainstream classrooms with no recognised learning difficulties or disability that would qualify and attract funding from learning support, however, they may be experiencing issues impacting on their learning. The session is delivered at schools at a time that is most convenient. Most schools run this EDMed professional development in a staff meeting time for all staff.
