Tell them when, where, and how you were exposed; whether you came into contact with bodily fluids such as vomit, blood, sputum, or diarrhea; which sanitizing methods, if any, you used to disinfect yourself; and whether the exposure was within the previous 21 days. If it’s been 21 or more days, and you have no fever or other symptoms, it's unlikely that you’ve contracted Ebola. But it’s still important to contact your local public health department. Be sure to tell them if you’ve made contact with other people after your exposure and make a list of those people and of the places you visited after your exposure. Take your temperature to confirm that it’s within normal range: 38°C or 98.6°F. Write it down and repeat the measurement every 12 hours or until your health care provider directs you to do otherwise. Decontaminate surfaces. Use a spray bottle filled with one quart of water and 3/4 teaspoon of bleach. To be effective, the solution must remain on the contaminated surfaces for several minutes. Should you be considered at risk for developing Ebola, you may be asked to quarantine yourself for 21 days. If so, you’ll receive instructions on how to do this. New antiviral medical treatments and use of antibodies from persons who’ve survived Ebola are being developed.
