Wildlife Rehabilitation
BASIC SKILLS COURSE
January 21 & 22, 2015
January 21-22, 2015 (Wed-Thurs. 8AM-6PM)
(Ontario Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Network)
(Wed. & Thurs. 8 AM—6 PM)
at Welland SPCA Regional Training Facility
706 East Main St., Welland, ON
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS DEC. 17, 2014
The Basic Skills Course was designed by Ontario rehabilitators and the OWREN board as an essential
component in wildlife rehabilitation education for
those who wish to become Authorized Wildlife Custodians in Ontario, offer their services as Registered
Foster Care Givers, or as volunteers for an AWC in a
rehabilitation facility.
Humane society, animal control, veterinarians and
clinic staff, pet store staff, and many others who often
receive orphaned or injured wildlife from the public
or who deal with such calls on a day to day basis
would greatly benefit from the course. An ideal
course to complement volunteer training programs or
for those who want to learn the basics of wildlife rehabilitation and emergency care, and later volunteer
at rehabilitation facilities or those who work with
wildlife in related professions.
Successfully passing all components in this course is
accepted as the equivalent to the Ministry of Natural
Resources OWRE written test. It is a first step in
obtaining a wildlife custodian authorization from the
MNR in Ontario. Working with wildlife requires special care and handling - this course will give you the
tools needed and help you make ethical decisions.
