Christmas and New Year are here once again and Bequia is
ready to give you the best holiday you ever had!
Delicious special menus, lots of day and night-time activities plus a wide choice of musical entertainment are all on
offer to make your celebrations truly memorable.
For your last-minute Christmas shopping, most stores will
be open till the end of the day on Christmas Eve - see facing
page for more details. However, Bequia's only bank, the Bank
of SVG, will close at noon on that day (Wed 24th), and will be
extremely crowded, so be sensible and don't leave it to the last
minute to change money or to make withdrawals!
Christmas Day (Thursday 25th) and Boxing Day (Friday
26th) are Public Holidays, but some grocery stores and
boutiques will be open for at least part of the day on the 26th.
Check out the list opposite for grocery store opening times.
Looking ahead to the 31st, New Year’s Eve is known in
Bequia as “Old Year’s Night” and the arrival of the New
Year is celebrated as enthusiastically here as anywhere in
the world. Many restaurants offer special festive dinners,
sometimes with two sittings so you can choose where you
want to be when midnight strikes. Just remember to reserve
early though as places fill up very fast!
Bequia’s spectacular New Year's Eve firework display made possible through the generosity of Bequia businesses
and private individuals - will burst over the harbour on
the stroke of midnight. The show should be visible from all
waterfront locations and surrounding areas. Don't miss it!
Details of most New Year’s Eve events will be in the
Special New Year of Bequia This Week, available from the
Tourism Office and other outlets from Friday 26th December.

The Revenue Office will be open normal Sunday hours for clearing in and out on Christmas Day, Boxing Day,

Please note that on Wednesday 24th & Wednesday
31st December, the Bank of SVG (Back Street)
will close at noon. You are advised not to leave your
banking till the last minute!
The ATM at BoSVG should be in operation throughout the holiday period, although supply cannot be
guaranteed. You have been warned!!
Holiday Ferry Times
No Ferries will be running to or from St. Vincent
on Christmas Day (Thursday 25th December).
The Bequia Express & Admiral ferries will both be
running their normal Sunday schedules on Friday 26th
(Boxing Day), and New Year's Day. Please re-confirm
with the ferry companies directly if ferry times are
critical to your onward journey.

Ashore, there is only one place to dispose of yacht garbage – the skips located off the Fish Market Jetty
next to the Vegetable Market. These are reserved exclusively for yachties’ use.
Alternatively, yacht garbage may be delivered “at sea” to Daffodil Marine or other reliable water taxis;
charge usually $3.00 to $5.00 per bag. Dumping in unauthorized places is a prosecutable offence.
