“Hopper Creek barely
topped out at Oak Circle for a
brief bit, and then almost
immediately receded. No significant trees or limbs came
down. Public Works crews
came in early on storm watch
patrol, and we were very
proactive to promote resident
awareness of the storm and
what it could do. Sand bag
distribution was highly used,
and we went through several
loads of dirt,” reported Town
Manager Steve Rogers of the
big storm.
Yountville’s water source,
Rector Reservoir, has topped

the spillway, according to John

Man Killed in Crash Worked in Vets’ Dining Hall
The victim in a fatal car
crash on Highway 29 early
Saturday
morning
(December 13) was 59-year-old
George Horvath of Napa, an
employee at the Veterans
Home.
Horvath worked in
the main dining room there for
13 years, serving meals to disabled veterans.
“George was very well
liked, not only by his Veterans
Home family, but by the veterans he served,” said the
Home’s spokeswoman Terri
Mejorado. “Our hearts go out
to his family as they mourn the
loss of their loved one.”
Horvath was a passenger in
a 1998 Chevrolet Prism driven
by David Prayer, 46, of
Fairfield. The two were travel-
ing north on Highway 29
about 5:20 a.m. when a 2005
Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Natosha Gutheridge, 23,
of Napa, went into the air from
the southbound lanes and
landed on the right side of
Prayer’s car.
Gutheridge lost control of
her vehicle, allowing it to drift
toward the southbound lanes
at a point south of Darms
Lane, according to a report by
California Highway Patrol
spokeswoman Anna Paulson.
The pick up truck crossed
the center divide, struck a
guardrail and bounced in the
air and into the path of the
Prayer car.
Gutheridge was arrested at
the scene on suspicion of driv-
CA Lottery Scratches Opportunity to Profit From French Laundry Fame
Yountvillians have become
accustomed to seing their community mentioned and hyped
in all manner of the print,

What the community has not
yet seen is Yountville on lottery

Enter now the CA Lottery
with an announcement this
week that starting January 5 its
$10 Emerald scratchers will
offer as a prize “a chance” for
dinner for two at The French
Laundry and a two-night stay
at Napa Valley Lodge.
And there’s a twist to this
prize. Participants who win a
chance on the prize must take
a picture of the scratcher and
write a 500-or-less-character
caption explaining who they
would take on the gourmet
food experience and why.
Lottery officials say they
are targeting people who
might not usually play the
lottery.
Thomas
Keller’s
spokeswoman Michelle Lipa
said TKRG (Thomas Keller
Restaurant Group) is not in
partnership or affiliated with
the CA Lottery in any way.
