A rifle storage facility is being provided downtown in the old RCMP building on the corner of 10th Avenue and Brunswick Street (999 Brunswick Street). Access to the rifle storage facility is from the 10th Avenue side of the building. There is room for both secure rifle storage and dry-firing by teams in this facility. A separate lockable rifle locker is available for each team; each team needs to provide a padlock to secure the locker. Each locker has room for 10 rifles fully mounted with carrying harness. Hard cases can be stored in a separate room. There will also be two lockers per team provided for ammunition storage; padlocks for these are also to be provided by each individual team. Schedules for team dry-fire sessions will be established at the first Team Captain’s meeting. 8 There will be a security person on site whenever the room is open for rifle access or dry-fire. At this time, we are planning to have security provided according to the table below: Date Activity of the day Hours of security (as of December 2, 2014) February 12 Arrival of athletes February 13 Unofficial training February 14 Official training 7:00 - 9:00 (all leave downtown) 11:30 - 18:00 (all arrive and dry-fire) February 15 Individual 06:30 - 08:30 am (all leave downtown) 12:30 - 18:00 (all arrive and dry-fire) February 16 Official training 06:30 - 08:30 (all leave downtown) 11:30 - 18:00 (all arrive and dry-fire) February 17 Sprint 06:30 - 08:30 (all leave downtown) 12:30 - 18:00 (all arrive and dry-fire) February 18 Pursuit 06:30 - 08:30 (men leave) 10:00 - 11:30 (women leave) 12:30 - 18:00 (arrivals and dry-fire) February 19 Official training 06:30 - 08:30 (all leave downtown) 11:30 - 18:00 (all arrive and dry-fire) February 20 Relay 06:30 - 08:30 (women leave) 10:00 - 11:30 (men leave) 12:30 - 19:00 (arrivals and dry-fire and rifle maintenance for travel) February 21 Departure All day 10:00 - 24:00 (midnight) (or until all teams have arrived) 7:00 - 18:00 (all pick-up and organize rifles – different times for all, dry-fire in the afternoon) 9 TRANSPORTATION FROM ATHLETE VILLAGE TO OTWAY There will be a regular bus service departing from the rifle storage facility (999 Brunswick Street) every 20 minutes for the Otway Nordic Ski Centre. Buses will also depart Otway to the rifle storage facility every 20 minutes. There will be additional buses provided at peak times in the morning, when most athletes will want to leave for Otway (07:55 every day and mid-morning for the Pursuit and Relay days). There is no parking available for private vehicles or team vans at Otway. Note that rifles need to be transported in either a soft case with a regulation window to see the bolt or a hard case. If using the soft case, the rifle will require a proper trigger lock. If using a hard case, you will need to have either a trigger lock or the hard case needs to be locked. LEG NUMBERS Leg numbers (and pins) will be handed out with team bibs every morning. It is expected that these will be put on prior to equipment check as they will be part of the equipment check process (same as the bibs). Athletes that do not have their leg numbers on at equipment check will not pass and will be required to return with them on. NEW IBU RULES FOR RELAY STARTS The new IBU rules for relay starts (October 2014) will be in effect at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. Note that there is no longer a double polling area, but rather athletes are allowed to skate immediately at the start (see diagram on the next page from IBU rules).
