2 www.rutherfordreader.com December 18-24, 2014 NEWS Traffic stop leads to Ecstasy and marijuana arrests A woman facing murder and drug charges in Georgia was charged Friday with felony possession of marijuana and Ecstasy after a traffic stop on Interstate 24, a Rutherford County Sheriff’s supervisor said. Driver Jaimie Fajardo, 37, of 18, of Stone Mountain, Ga., was arrested on the same charges. Lt. Kenneth Barrett and K-9 Becky walked around the vehicle driven by Fajardo. Becky alerted to drugs that resulted in the discovery of one pound of marijuana and more than onehalf pound of MDMA powder. Tucker, Ga., was charged with felony possession of marijuana and felony possession of a Schedule I drug by Sgt. Shawn Applegate of the Interstate Crime Enforcement unit. The high grade marijuana carried a street value of $30,000. An unknown man entered the store while the worker was in the back. The subject pulled out a gun and pointed it at the employee. According to a police incident report, the subject demanded the clerk open the cash register. After helping himself to the money, the robber told the worker to get on the floor. The culprit then fled the store on foot. As for the subjects identity, it is unknown at this time. The man was wearing gloves and a face covering. No arrests have been made. Suspect Cortez Saunders, 21, of Wenlon Drive and co-defendant Anthony Harris, 24, of Hazelwood Drive, were nabbed by the team of law enforcement officers. Anthony Harris, 24 Murfreesboro Police Detective Michael Levy charged Saunders and Harris with attempted homicide of victim Steven Benford, who was shot July 31, and criminal conspiracy. Saunders and Harris were being held on $100,000 bond in Rutherford County Adult Detention Center while awaiting a hearing in Circuit Court. In an unrelated case, deputies track suspect Marcus Lindsley, 34, of Nashville, to a facility on Thompson Lane in Nashville where Sheriff’s Fugitive Squad Deputies Jack Keisling and Randy Morrow took him into custody.
