Awards: Individual trophies for 1st Place and 2nd Place in each division. Format: The tournament will be 3 Game Guarantee, Double Elimination format. Admission: 12 and Older - $5 For Weekend Wristband Sunday Only - $2 For Wristband Wristbands MUST be worn on wrist, wristbands pulled out of pocket will not be honored Roster: Maximum of 12 players and 2 coaches. Team rosters and tournament entry fee must be given to a tournament official prior to the first game. Roster must reflect the grade and school that the player is enrolled in. Players can appear on more than one roster as long as they are playing up a grade. For example, a 5th grader can play for both a 5th grade team and a 6th grade team of the same school. However, a 6th grader can only play on a 6th grade team. Teams: School Teams Only. A School Team is comprised of players who attend the same school and/or the same school district. Officials: Two licensed officials will be used for all games. Scorer’s Table: Each team is required to have one person at the scorer’s table. A tournament official/volunteer will be present to control the clock. The scorer’s table will not be interrupted at any time. The home team on the schedule is required to keep the official book. The area in front of the scorer’s table must be kept clear and occupied only by substitutes entering the game. Time at the end of each half may be used to review records. Conduct: The Head Coach of each team is responsible for the players, coaches, and fans of his/her team. Unsportsmanlike conduct by any player, coach, or fan is considered grounds for removal from the tournament. No refunds will be given for those removed from the tournament. Courtesy and respect for the facilities, as well as proper sportsmanship, is expected to be observed at all times. Violation of this may result in ejection from the tournament. This will be at the discretion of tournament officials. Coaches should leave telephone numbers (including cell number) with tournament officials where the can be reached at any time. Insurance: Each participant (player and coach) is responsible for his/her own insurance. WMYL, including officers and volunteers, are not responsible or liable for injuries and/or accidents resulting from participation in this tournament. West Muskingum School District and West Muskingum Youth League cannot be held responsible for any accidents or injuries during the tournament. The signed roster waives any liability on their part. Weather: Emails and/or text messages will be sent to the Head Coaches as soon as possible to inform of schedule changes. Please check emails/texts prior to travelling or contact the Tournament Director with questions. Equipment: The tournament will not provide balls for warm ups but will provide balls for each game. The ball size will be 28.5. No jewelry can be worn by players during games. Players must carry their shoes into the gym facilities. Players with wet or dirt shoes will not be allowed to participate. Concessions: Concession areas are provided at each location. Tournament Rules A. Playing Rules OHSAA rules will be followed except where specifically noted. Decisions of the officials and the Tournament Director are final if an appeal of the rules is made. B. Pre-Game There will be a 5 minute warm up period between games. If necessary, it may be reduced to a 3 minute warm up period if the tournament is running behind schedule. C. Time Keeping The game will consist of two twenty-minute halves. The clock will only stop for timeouts, every whistle in the last two minutes of each half and all of overtime. Half-time will be five minutes, three minutes if tournament is running behind. If a team is winning by 20 or more points, the clock will be continuous during the final 2 minutes of the game. The clock will also stop for the following reasons: The clock will stop for timeouts The clock will stop for official timeouts D. Overtime Over time will be three minutes. Only one timeout is allowed in overtime. E. Timeouts Four one minute timeouts per game, which can be used anytime. Unused timeouts do not carry over into an overtime period. If overtime is needed, each team will receive 1 timeout per overtime. F. Defense Full court press may be used unless winning by 20 points or more. Possession of the ball must be clear, otherwise defense can continue. If possession is clear, defense cannot guard anyone before they cross half court unless the lead is less than 20 points. Live ball off miss shot or turnover; defense can continue. For 3rd and 4th grade only, pressing will be allowed for the last three (3) minutes of each half. G. Free Throws The foul line will be marked at 13 feet for the 3rd and 4th Grade Divisions. H. Bench Conduct Only roster players and coaches shall be permitted on the bench during the game. Only one coach at a time may stand during play and must stay in the general coaching box. Any player or coach receiving two technical fouls will be removed from the game and possibly the tournament. Fans are subject to removal if they become offensive or discourteous. The tournament officials or referee’s discretion may be used to remove any player, coach or fan. Anyone ejected must leave the building. Coaching is a privilege, not a right. But it is the right of the Tournament Director, Officials Coordinator, and/or the officials to remove any coach from a game or from the entire tournament. No refunds will be given for disciplinary actions.
