Simbang Gabi or Misa de Gallo: It is a novena of Masses celebrated in the Philippines at dawn starting on December 16th until Christmas Eve. Filipino communities throughout the United States also celebrate this tradition, from December 15th to December 23rd. It is considered a way to prepare for the coming of Jesus with fervor, joy and thanksgiving which are expressed in their faithfulness to attend the full novena Masses. After each Mass, families share traditional holiday sweets and desserts. Usted puede decir esto antes o después de una comida, al despertar, antes de ir a la cama, o cada vez que usted y los miembros de su familia se reúnen para orar. Antes de decir la oración, leer y hablar sobre el evangelio que escucho en la misa dominical de esa semana. Primer Semana: Oh Dios, que nos invitas a estar atentos y aler tas porque no sabemos cuándo vas a venir , que esta vela nos dé la luz y nos ayude a mantenernos despiertos. Danos tu fuerzas para responder con testimonio veraz en aquellos momentos de necesidad. Por Cristo nuestro Señor. Segunda Semana: Oh Dios, que enviaste a J uan el Bautista a proclamar un bautismo de ar r epentimiento, concédenos que estas dos velas sean signo de la preparación del camino del Señor en nosotros. Tercer Semana: Oh Dios, que enviaste a san J uan Bautista como voz que clama en el desier to, abr e nuestros oídos para escuchar tu mensaje al encender la vela de color rosa. Modela nuestras vidas de modo que se conviertan en un camino recto hacia ti. Haznos dignos de saludar a tu Hijo cuando Él venga a nosotros. Por Cristo nuestro Señor. Cuarta Semana: Oh Dios, que enviaste el ángel Gabr iel para anunciar la buena noticia a Mar ía, haznos fieles a su Palabra de Vida.
