A cost- effective solution to control cardiovascular diseases is to commence identifying, monitoring and modifying risk factors leading to the diseases before noticeable symptoms of illnesses appear. In essence, future healthcare systems should encourage the Participation of all nations for the early Prediction of diseases and the Prevention of illnesses such that Precise and Preemptive treatment is delivered to realize Pervasive, Personalized and Patient-centralized healthcare, i.e., the paradigm of the 8-Ps Medicine. Health informatics plays an important role in implementing the 8-Ps Medicine and the convergence of health. Advancing health informatics has been identified as one of 14 grand challenges in engineering in the 21st century. This talk, focusing on acute CVD with blood plaque, will present the concept of convergence of health and the challenges of cardiovascular health informatics. The enabling technologies such as cardiovascular sensing will be discussed in the presentation with the emphasis on the “SUPER-MINDS” design of unobtrusive and wearable sensors for the real-time monitoring of vulnerable patients. Using the MISSIoN 2020 project as an example, we will illustrate that these approaches should allow the practice of 8-Ps medicine that is pervasive, predictive, preventive, personalized, participatory, precise, preemptive and patientcentralized. Biography Yuan-Ting Zhang is currently the Director of Joint Research Center for Biomedical Engineering and Professor of Electronic Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and he serves concurrently as the Director of the Key Lab for Health Informatics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research work has won his team numerous awards including best journal paper awards, first prizes from National Annual Challenge Cup Competitions, the Grand Award of the Asia-Pacific ICTAAC, IEEE-EMBS 2006 distinguished Service Award, IEEE-SA Appreciation Award for serving as the WG Chair of IEEE 1708 Standard on wearable cuffless blood pressure measuring devices, and IEEE-SA 2014 Emerging Technology Award. Dr. Zhang was elected to the EMBS AdCom in 1999 and to the ExCom as Vice-President in 2000. He served as the Technical Program Chair of the EMBC'98 and the Conference Chair of the EMBC'05. He also served on the editorial boards of several international journals such as the founding AE for the IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, and Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics. Dr. Zhang serves currently on the IEEE BME Award Committee, Fellow Committee of the IAMBE, Editorial Board of IEEE Spectrum (in Chinese), Steering Committee of IEEE J-BHI, Editorial Board of IEEE Trans. on BME, and Editor-in-Chief for the book series on Health Informatics. Dr. Zhang is a fellow of IAMBE, IEEE, and AIMBE. The 6th FTRA International Conference on Computer Science and its Applications (CSA-14) Invited Speaker II Software Defined Perimeter (SDP): A New Security Mechanism For Mitigating Network-Based Attacks Jong Uk Choi, Ph.D. Professor SangMyung University, South Korea Abstract In Feb 2014, an SDP Hackathon was held in RSA 2014 conference which challenges hackers to attack a server defended by SDP technology. Even if more than 10 billion packets were fired at the SDP server from around the world, no attacker broke through even the first five layers of security controls. The SDP is a new network security approach that mitigates networkbased attacks by creating dynamically provisioned perimeters for clouds, DMZ zones, and data center infrastructure. Even though the result of SDP Hackathon does not prove that the new network security technology can withstand various directed attacks, it showed robustness of the SDP security mechanism. In this presentation, the detailed architecture and multiple levels of security controls in SDP will be introduced. Additionally, it will be shown that much stronger perimeters can be created when integrated with existing Enterprise DRM(E-DRM) solution. Biography Jong Uk Choi is a professor and businessman. He received a Ph.D degree in MIS from University of South Carolina (South Carolina, USA) in 1988. He is currently a Full Professor of Computer Science at SangMyung University (Seoul, Korea) where he has been since 1991. His research interests include Computer Security, Digital Right Management, Watermark, Artificial Intelligence, Expert Systems and Knowledge Representation. He was invited to many national and international conferences and technical sessions in these areas as a speaker. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Markany Inc. which is a leading company in digital rights management and digital security solutions. It has received 3 awards from the president of the Republic of Korea as well as other numerous awards and certificates in recognition and appreciation of its significant contribution to the advancement of the Korean IT industry.
