letter from our Executive Director
A Gift to Our Members …
A Gift to the Community…
You, our valued members, make an incredible
impact in the lives of so many in helping to support
the programs and services of the YWCA-Clinton.
We thank you for your continued membership.
To express our genuine thanks, we are happy
to announce we will not be raising membership
costs this January. Even as the cost of doing
business continues to grow, we know many of you
may be feeling the same pinch. Many of our
members simply cannot afford to pay additional
fees. We hear you, and we’re listening.
This year, we’re trying something special, and
encouraging those of you that can give more,
to please consider “paying it forward” with a
donation to the YWCA. Please help us keep
memberships affordable, our equipment
updated and running, and fitness classes
running from dawn until dusk.
In addition to our great fitness and aquatic
programs, your YWCA team of staff works
tirelessly to provide a home for homeless
women and children, emergency shelter for
victims of sexual assault and domestic
violence, a safe place for K–5 kids to
participate in healthy and safe afterschool
activities, childcare and preschool for our
young ones, and second shift childcare for
working families.
You can help us continue to provide lifechanging programs and services to our
community. Please consider “paying it
forward” with a gift to the YWCA today. Your
membership means so much to so many. If you
find yourself in a position to give more, please
consider a tax-deductible donation today. See
page 10 of our brochure for a donation form or visit
our donations page of our website at
www.ywcaclinton.org. We thank you in advance for
your generosity and kindness.
Sincerely,
Shannon Sander-Welzien

embracing early childhood
Children learn through being actively engaged in
their environment where new and varied handson experiences cause them to stop and question
what they know. Our curriculum includes:
 Circle Time - includes calendars, sharing time,
intro to letters, letter sounds, numbers &
problem solving
 Group Games - promote problem solving &
moral development as children try to apply the
rules to conflicts that arise during play
 Gym/Outside Play - promotes physical
development
 Shared Family Style Meals - encourage
manners, discussion about healthy eating and
interaction
 Small Group Activities - where children are
given time to explore new skills
Certified teachers guide large and small group
interaction as well as encourage children to
explore independently. Teachers observe, offer
support, and gauge skill levels to determine when
to introduce new experiences. Swim days are
scheduled on the calendar.

Donations:
Our programs depend a large part on the
generosity of the community in which we operate.
Thanks to the many individuals and organizations
who give gifts of both cash and needed items, we
are able to continue providing these vital services
to our community members who are victims of
domestic violence and sexual assault. Please
consider donating if you are able (see donation
list to the left or use the donation form on pg.10.)
I have never felt more genuinely supported from knowing I am not
alone and always have someone to talk to or a safe place to go.

“ You are really going to pay for daycare so I can look for a job?!? I got a job!! ”
When we came to you, we had no idea where we were going to live and what we were going to do.
You listened to the problems facing my family and asked me about my hopes and dreams. The next thing
I know, we are off searching for an apartment. I can’t believe it - we have a home of our own!
“
”
A domestic violence shelter is no place I thought I would have to ever be, but this is
the safest place I have ever lived with wonderful advocates and a clean and warm space.
