St. Joseph’s Family News, December 4, 2014
Congratulations, Christina Valdez, VFW District 1st place winner of 5th grade – Youth Essay Contest!
We had a grand total of 16% of our families participate (either through special order or coming and
purchasing directly from the School and Parish offices). We ordered a total of 376 gift cards at a total
cost of $9840. This brought in a profit of $523.40.
As a way of helping Catholic Family Services and celebrating our St. Joseph’s 50th year anniversary,
SJS participated with the Warm Hearts & Warm Hands community projected. Listed are the amounts
of pairs of gloves and mittens each class collected.
Preschool (Cleveland) = 49

We are starting to collect photos for our 2014-2015 school yearbook! If you have any great
pictures that you would like to submit of students/staff from any of this school year’s events (class
parties, sports, events, holidays, etc.) please email them to Cathy Valdez at [email protected] or
drop them by in hard copy, CD, or thumb drive and I will try to return them asap. Thank you!
There is still time left to get those last minute stocking stuffers! Holy Grounds Cafe gift cards
make a great gift. They are available at the school office and Cafe until noon tomorrow Friday, Dec.
19th.
Congratulations to our Art & Wine Poster contest winners: Tedra LaFreniere - 8th grade, Christina
Valdez - 5th grade, and Laura Kirkwood - 2nd grade. They all received a script gift card and basket of
goodies. If you would like to see their posters, they will be in the school office on display after
Christmas break. You can also bid on them in the silent auction on February 7, 2015 at the Art & Wine
Fundraiser for the school. Great Job Girls!!
From the Art & Wine Committee: The Art & Wine Committee is still in need of VOLUNTEERS for the
night of the event. Please fill out a form if you can volunteer and drop it off in the school office. Also,
TOMORROW - Friday the 19th is the last day that tickets sell for $60 each, after that each ticket
will cost $75.00. Plan to purchase them now so you don’t pay a higher price later.
Please continue to ask businesses for a donation, every bit helps. We still have a few items that we are
trying to procure. If anyone knows how to get one of these items donated please let us know.
Here are some items that A&W needs to complete their list of gifts to auction:
BBQ grill, Queen mattress, hotels in Tacoma, Sandpoint, Idaho (or cabin near Schweitzer), Walla Walla,
Coeur d’ Alene, Spokane (near Gonzaga if possible), gift certificate to Staples or to any office supply
store, nice restaurant gift certificates in town (preferably not Cedars or Anthony’s as we already have
those) PF Changs, Bella Italia, Twigs would all be nice.
If you have any questions feel free to email or call Danielle Rhodes at [email protected] or
539-1030
The staff at St. Joseph’s School wishes you all
a Christmas warm with happiness
and a new year filled with joy!
