All our programs are open to the students of the school, siblings, boys and girls in the community and some to adults. We offer a range of programs including multi- activity, sport specific, educational, vocational and residential stays. The standard opening hours are from 9.00am-3.30pm with the main activities on offer from 9.30am. Busy working parents can take advantage of our early and late clubs, no matter what program they are taking, which extend the day from 7.30am6.00pm at an additional charge. We endeavour to support working families who face the challenge of supervising their children outside of the program times by providing early and late clubs at an extra cost. This service operates daily from 7.309.00am and 3.30-6.00pm. It is important that all children are collected no later than 6.00pm, otherwise a penalty of $10.00 for each 15 minutes will be applied to cover staffing costs. Book before Friday 21 November to receive a 15% discount Bookings close: Friday 5 December A $10 late fee will be charged for any bookings made after this date. (CCB/CCR will not be applied with late bookings. Receipts for personal claim will be issued.) Bookings cannot be made without full payment at the time of booking. All registration details (including special needs, emergency contacts and authorisations) must be completed before bookings can be accepted. Please advise staff in writing of any changes. If faxing, please check your Fax Transmission report. One enrolment must be completed for each child attending Holiday Programs. There are no refunds, credits or transfers for days booked and paid for without a medical certificate. Refund requests must be made in writing to the Director Extra-Curricular with attached medical certificate, which must be received no later than two weeks after the holiday period. If a participant is aged 12 years or under they MUST be collected by an adult nominated on the enrolment form. Notice in writing is required if the child is to be collected by anyone not nominated on the Enrolment Form. Children aged over 12 are allowed to leave unaccompanied, providing a letter is sent with the enrolment form from the parent/guardian giving permission for them to do so. Program hours are to be strictly adhered to. Please ensure participants arrive and are collected on time to avoid a late fee. St Catherine’s School reserves the right to cancel programs if there are insufficient enrolments at no cost to the participants. Multi-Activity Program J4F (Just for Fun) Weeks 1 - 6 Boys and girls aged 5-16 | 9am-3.30pm | $50 a day or $225 for the week (5 days) (Extra $25 charge for excursion day - Wednesdays) J4F (Just for fun) is a multi- activity program offering a wide range of activities to suit all ages and interests. These activities vary from sports to performing and creative arts and offer girls and boys a great opportunity to try out new activities in a safe environment surrounded by supportive and experienced staff. Our program enhances the development of skills, knowledge and understanding in physical, social and emotional and intellectual areas. Through the fun and exciting experiences that we plan for our students on the Holiday Program, we strive for students to develop positive attitudes towards a physically active lifestyle, nurture relationships with their peers and improve their overall self-esteem and leadership skills. We want to encourage our students to challenge and question the world around them and outside of the classroom setting. Excursions Once a week on a Wednesday, all girls and boys have the option of attending an excursion/incursion day. There will be an additional charge of $25 on these days which will cover the cost of the activity, transport if needed and an excursion t-shirt. No late bookings for an excursion day will be accepted, please book no later than the Wednesday prior to the excursion. Wednesday 10 December, 2014:The Emperor’s Quest at the Chinese Garden of Friendship, Darling Harbour Bookings close:Wednesday 3 December Our adventure begins with a train ride in to beautiful Darling Harbour and a short walk to the Chinese Garden of Friendship where we will embark on the ‘The Emperor’s Quest’, we will use our special Emperor’s Quest maps to follow the winding pathways of the Chinese Garden and seek out each animal sculpture using the clues…EXPLORE the sculpture to learn about the zodiac and the secrets of the Chinese Garden. Wednesday 7 January, 2014: Plaster Painting Studios, Entertainment Quarter Moore Park Bookings close:Wednesday 24 December It’s time to get creative at the Plaster Painting Studios. Each child will get to choose their own plaster figurine from the wide range available to paint as they desire. While we enjoy lunch in Entertainment Quarter Grounds, our plasters will be glittered, glossed and packed up ready to take home. Wednesday 21 January 2014: Bare Foot Bowls, Bronte Bowling Club Bookings close:Wednesday 14 January Soak up the last of the summer school holidays and feel the grass between your toes as we try our hand at Bare Foot Bowls at the local Bronte Bowling Club. Hats essential! Our students are placed into groups depending on their age. We want our girls and boys to feel comfortable and safe and engaging in age appropriate activities J4F Minis (5-7 year olds) Our Mini’s are aged between 5 and 7 years. There are no more than 20 girls and boys in a group. They have a carefully prepared timetable with quiet periods and frequent breaks which keeps them busy all the time, but they don’t come home totally exhausted! J4F Juniors (8-10 year olds) Our Juniors have all the enthusiasm of the Mini’s but longer attention spans, so sessions with this group are all about learning through FUN. There is a growing awareness of teamwork and these connections are made through play. Juniors are usually in groups of up to 24 with two members of staff. J4F Seniors (11-14 year olds) The Seniors are able to take part in all of the activities offered. At this age there is a real sense of teamwork with plenty of opportunity to further develop new skills or build on already existing foundations. The school holidays can be a boring and slow time but not if part of the J4F Seniors! Seniors are also in groups up to 24 with two members of staff. J4F Leaders (14-16 year olds) Girls and boys wishing to stay active during the holidays and who have a love for sports, dramatic and creative arts are children who would love J4F Leaders.You get all the buzz of the activity program and then get to spend part of the day shadowing a member of staff, setting up activities, organising groups and keeping the atmosphere going. It is a great experience and you will be issued with a certificate for your records at the conclusion of your week. They are led by specialist staff and coaches and are charged at an additional cost. Each half hour extra will incur an additional $45 for the week. Please note that skills builders will still be charged at $45 even if you are not attending all five days. The winter holiday skill builders include: Tennis - $45 This program includes five half-hour lessons where children work on their forehands, backhands, serves and volleys as well as tactics and positional play. The coaches make sure the week is full of fun competitions to make sure players progress as well as enjoy themselves.You can bring your own racket, or use the ones supplied by the coaches. Dance - $45 During your five half-hour dance sessions you will have the opportunity to try jazz, funk, hip-hop and contemporary dance. Classes will be jam packed full of fun and the opportunity to perform in the end of week Talent Show might prove too difficult to resist! Labrats - $45 From water rockets to making slime, giant bubbles to wacky races, Labrats are bursting with FUN experiments for kids – whatever the age. The course is bound to capture and stretch the imagination with 5 half hour sessions packed full of new ideas and crazy experiments. Learn to swim and stroke correction - $45 Swimming is one of the most important activities every young person in Australia needs to learn. This program includes five structured lessons each week to build on skills and confidence with qualified swim staff. It is perfect for beginners or those wishing to work on stroke correction. Children will need to bring their own swimmers and towel. Performing and Creative Arts Art Camp – Christmas Decorations Thursday 11 December | 9.30am-12.30pm | Girls and boys aged 5-12 | $45 (extra $20 if joining J4F in the afternoon) Amaze your family and create your own beautiful Christmas decorations including ballerina snowflakes, beaded stars, and paper and felt decorations. Art Camp – Ceramic Australian Animal Tuesday 13 January | 9.30am-12.30pm | Girls and boys aged 5-12 | $45 (extra $20 if joining J4F in the afternoon) Inspired by Australian indigenous art create your own ceramic Australian animal in this fun hands on workshop for children of all ages. Using intricate patterns each child will create their own unique patterned animal from air dried clay. All materials included and suitable for school aged children. Beading and Jewellery Design Friday 19 December & Thursday 8 January | Girls and Boys aged 5-12 | 9.30am-12.30pm | $45 (extra $20 if joining J4F in the afternoon) During this 3 hour workshop you will learn the skill of beading and jewellery design and have the opportunity to complete three of your own projects. If you feel in need of a little running around after this skilful intricate morning, you can join the J4F program in the afternoon at an additional charge. Casting workshop Friday 16 January | Girls and boys aged 5-13 | 9.30am-3.30pm | $189 This workshop is specifically designed to educate those children interested in pursuing work in the industry, about the process, and how to give your best performance for an audition. Auditioning for TV and film (Casting or Screen Test) requires you to be confident. The best way to be confident is to gain experience and find the joy and fun in front of camera! We’ll use real TV scripts and set the challenge of a mock casting. Act, improvise, take direction and watch yourself back on screen to see where your strengths lie and where you can improve.You’ll gain invaluable insights from our industry professionals on how to create believable performances and use all the tricks of the trade! Live to Sing and Dance Monday 15 December - Tuesday 16 December & Wednesday 14 January - Thursday 16 January | Girls and boys aged 5-13 | 9.30am-3.30pm | $150 (2 days) If you are fans of hit TV shows like “The Voice,” “X-Factor,” and “So you think you can Dance” or you love nothing more than singing and dancing to your hearts desire, then our “LIVE TO SING & DANCE” workshop is for you! We’re so excited to bring you this format. It will inspire your creative courage, build your confidence and allow your performer within to shine! So what’s involved in our Live to Sing and Dance workshop? LOTS! You will get to sing your favourite songs. Inspired by “The Voice,” StarTime will be running our fun version of “blind auditions.” Where your mentor will plead for you to be on their team! We’ll also be involved in singing and dance battles. Learn proper microphone technique and the latest in Hip Hop choreography. Add to this our lunch time talent quests and final day show for family and friends, and you have an action packed workshop! STC Studios - Cheerleading Monday 8 December | Girls and boys in Years 2 - 6 | 9.30am-3.30pm | $89 Hip Hop, Jazz and Pom Poms! Welcome to Cheerleading! This workshop will go through the basics of jazz and hip hop styles of dance and composition. The students will then spend the day putting together a cheer routine to perform. Culinary Delight and Life Skill Programs Master Chef Tuesday 9 December, Friday 9 January and Friday 23 January | Girls and boys aged 7+| 9.30am3.30pm | $65 The Master Chef program is a unique opportunity for children interested in cooking to learn the basic skills and techniques needed to embark on a lifetime of cooking. Participants will learn basics in: kitchen safety, proper food handling, food preparation, cooking and baking techniques, presentation, table setting and manners all organised around a theme. Self Defence Course Thursday 15 January | Girls and boys aged 15+ | 9.30am - 12.30pm | $45/day (extra $20 per day if joining J4F in the afternoon) Does your child have the eye of a tiger? Then this workshop is for you! Learning martial arts can make a profound difference in the life of a child. From confidence and self-discipline to physical fitness. Concerted effort in martial arts drills helps children develop their gross motor skills and coordination through repetition of martial arts techniques. Classes will be based on the Kempo Freestyle Karate technique with a strong focus on basic self-defence. Come along to one of our workshops and let your child unleash their inner tiger. Mini Grasshoppers will be for boys and girls aged 5-7 and Junior Dynamites for girls and boys aged 8-12. If your child has a love of learning and wants to power through even though it is the school holidays, then this experience is for your child. This program is particularly designed for students who are at the early stages of reading and writing and who, with the guidance of a qualified Primary teacher, will learn in a way that is fun and multi- sensory. Learn how to be a rock star reader in the fantastic, literature rich library we are lucky enough to use this holiday. Marvellous Mathematics Monday 15 December | Girls and boys in Years K-2 | 9.30am-12.30pm | $60 (Extra $20 if joining J4F in the afternoon) Hop, jump or stretch your way across brightly coloured life size boards. Add subtract, multiply or divide numbers within your reach to calculate your way to the finish line. Who said that maths isn’t fun? Fancy speeding up your times tables by racing a car around a track or running a Holiday Program ‘tuck shop’ to practice your money and financial literacy? Measure the tennis court then set it up for a game, time relay races and learn about cubic metres by building an actual cubic metre. Who said that learning is confined to a classroom?
