Based on looking at the market potential and organizations desire to acquire, the industry is on pace for at least a 17% M&A increase during same time period over the previous year. Since Connected World began tracking M&As in 2003, there has been a grand total to date of 262, including companies that offer software, hardware, and communications services. The list is largely an illustration of the marketplace as it stands today. For 2015, the CW 100 sees LTE (long-‐ term evolution) chipset makers and other providers making their mark with more companies dominating the list. In fact, many smaller companies and even some fairly new faces have made their presence known, entering the market with a vengeance and unseeding many traditional M2M players in an effort to make an even stronger impact in M2M and IoT.
