We know Christ is already here. We are preparing for the coming of Christ, but we know that Christ has already come. He is here. He was born in a stable at Bethlehem and we commemorate that at Christmas time, commemorate the great act of Christ coming into the world to redeem us. But Christ is already here, in our heart, in our soul, He is the sacrament of the Eucharist, He is in the Mass, He is in all the sacraments we receive, He is in the graces that we constantly receive from Him every day. “ During this Advent and throughout the New Year, spend extra time in prayer ” We know there are certain things that we are not doing in conformity to the will of God, so this Advent is the time to change, be responsible for your actions, change in such a way that you will be pleasing to God, that you will be on your guard and ready for whatever comes, because there will be a second coming of Christ. And when Jesus Christ comes again, He will find you and me, full of grace, ready and watching and waiting. During this Advent and throughout the New Year, spend extra time in prayer. Begin with this beautiful little prayer: Heavenly Father, as we prepare for Christmas, remind us that Jesus is the Reason for the Season. Give us the grace to rejoice with the angels, and adore with the shepherds and Wise Men. Banish hate from our hearts and fill them with love. May the gifts we give reflect the affection that You have for each one of us. May the spirit of Christmas remain alive in our hearts throughout this Year of faith! We ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen I take this opportunity to extend to all of you and your families my prayers and blessings for a happy, safe, and spiritually rich celebration of Advent and Christmas. During this joyous time of the year, let us be true to our resolve to “keep Christ in Christmas.” Know that you are remembered in my Masses and prayers throughout the Christmas Season. A Very Blessed and Merry Christmas to all brother Knights and their families. God Bless You, Father Angelo Patti Chaplain St. Andrew’s Council 11308 Page 3 Grand Knights Report Well with one month left in 2014 we have time to relax and enjoy this Christmas season and advent celebrations. The past two months have been very hectic and I’m so thankful I have such a great council and incredibly supportive parish to work with. The gun bash went incredibly smooth even with a late start and having our food caterer drop out one week prior to the event. The turnout was great and the feedback notes we leave on the tables indicated how many people look forward to this event and really enjoyed the day. The next event is scheduled for March 22nd so mark your calendars. We held our first Pro-Life dinner at St. Andrews church hall on October 26th. We've taken over this event at the request of St. Anne’s Parish in Davidsville and K.O.C council #8979. We then moved it to St. Andrews, to accommodate our future plan to expand this event and broaden our support of the pro-life initiative. I can’t think of greater cause to be a part of and a greater responsibility we have as Christians. I’d like to thank our Master of Ceremonies Amy Bradley and guest speaker Dr. Patti Stefanick. Their passionate message was well received. I’m sure this dinner will grow in years to come and surely make a difference in supporting this incredibly important cause. We incorporated our memorial mass with this dinner and I would like to thank Fourth Degree council 954 and their color corps for always finding the time to be a part of these celebrations. Their presence always makes these event that more special. The following week we held our recruitment masses and pancake breakfast on Sunday morning after the 8 and 10 o’clock masses. Our very own Tony Ream gave a presentation during the masses and as always demonstrates he is truly a gifted speaker and conveys his passion for the Knight of Columbus and what this organization is all about. The attendance was awesome and we picked up several new membership prospects. During breakfast we had a chance to sit down and talk with several incredible individuals and listen to their stories of WWII. We were mesmerized. It’s wrenching to see the pain of loss swell up in these men’s eyes some 70 year later as they recall the horrors they experienced and yet the joy of camaraderie felt amongst their fellow GI’s. Then we experienced how humble they were when we expressed our thanks to them for the way of life we enjoy as American’s today. I was simply honored that they shared these moments with us. I can’t stress the life lessons I have acquired over time from sitting down and talking with people of this generation. I hope that as time goes on I’ll be able to pass on what wisdom I have acquired from these conversations. Get ready for the Christmas party on the Dec. 13th. We all had a lot of fun last year and I’m bringing the Christmas carols again this year. Just remember to bring your singing voice and pray for good weather this year. In closing I would like to thank everyone in the council and their spouses as well as everyone of our Parish members for their hard work and support of our council programs throughout the year. And remember to Keep Christ in Christmas!!! Merry Christmas Wayne Sutherland Grand Knight “Get ready for the Christmas party on the Dec. 13th.
