Pre and Post tour Heaps WAy Better. 26th December 2014 to 2nd January 2015 13th – 18th January 2015 The 16th Australian Venture, AV2015 SA Heaps Good, will be held at Woodhouse Activity Centre, Adelaide, South Australia from 2nd - 13th January 2015. An Australian Venture is the major National youth event for the Venturer section (14 - 18 years old) of Scouts Australia. You get to meet other Venturers and Guides from all over Australia and around the world. For 10 days you will visit different areas of South Australia, try out activities and challenges you may have never dreamed of doing, and make friends for life! The Venture is open to all registered Venturers and Guides aged between 14 and no older than 18 years at 2nd January 2015. To be eligible to attend AV2015, Venturers and Guides need to be registered with their Branch, and to have earned the Venturing Skills Award or equivalent. Venturers, Leaders and Rovers must attend the event as part of their state Contingent. The W.A. Contingent is offering a pre and post tour, to and from the Venture, leaving from Midland on the 26th December 2014 arriving back on 18th January 2015. The pre tour will travel through Coolgardie stoping at Norsman, Eucla, Port Lincoln, and traveling through the Flinders Rangers via the Pitchi Ritchi Pass. January the 1st will be a rest/washing day to arrive fresh and rested ready for 10 more days of fun. During the pre tour there are activities and sites that are traditionally kept up our sleeve to add to the excitement and intrigue. No there not secret because we don’t know what they are, they have been investigated and tentatively booked at this time. A four day expedition of you chose during the venture, of which you are urged to make your own choose and not copy friends as the chance of being in the same unit and on the same expedition are very slim, so chose something you will enjoy. Registering early will give you a better chance to get you first expedition chose. You will be asked for 3 choses in order of preference. During the rest of the venture at Woodhouse there will be onsite, offsite and night activities. The venture is fully catered, you don’t have to cook. You will need a dilly bag and wash your own dishes. You might have to cook on a couple of the expeditions. The post tour will travel through Wallaroo, Cowell ( Lucky Bay ), Ceduna and back to Midland Perth. During the pre and post tour venturers will be placed into a unit of approximately 20 youth with at least 2 leaders. During the Venture between 2nd and the 12th January you will be in a different unit with venturers and leaders for other states, depending on the expedition you have chosen. The cost is as follows, the expedition fee will be extra to the totals below, and the venturers will need personal spending money and need to allow for a couple of lunches on the pretour they will have to buy themselves, as we will not be in one group on some days, they will be in smaller groups in different locations’ at lunch time. 2x $15 = $30 should be ample for these days. All other meals are covered in the fee structure.
