Celebrating Discovery And Play Since 1981
2006-2007 Annual Report
WHAT’s in a number
25 Years of Play and Learning
Dear Museum supporter,
What does “25 years” mean?
…to a four-year-old crawling through the ant hill, it’s a really BIG number.
…to his mother, who wiggled through Bandana Square’s barrels and boxes, it seems like a
lifetime ago.
…to his grandmother, trailing after her four-year-old, it seems like yesterday.
…to Minnesota Children’s Museum, it sounds like a reason to celebrate!
Thanks to the generosity of Minnesota’s families, companies and foundations, Minnesota Children’s Museum has been sparking
children’s learning through play for 25 years. Our focus on staying young—or at least thinking young—has welcomed more than
six million visitors through our doors.
Since opening in 1981, Minnesota Children’s Museum has played a vital role in developing building blocks for future learning.
During the past decade, neuroscience and economic analysis have confirmed what parents and educators have always believed:
investing in young children is essential for lifelong success.
Our visitors obviously agree! We outgrew our first space in
downtown Minneapolis with 65,000 visitors after only one year
of operations. In our 25th year, we welcomed more than 400,000
visitors to the comer of 7th and Wabasha in downtown Saint
Paul—some days feel awfully crowded in our seven galleries.
Minnesota Children’s Museum’s board and staff would like to
thank the many, many board members, donors, volunteers and
staff who, for 25 years, have advanced the Museum’s mission
of sparking children’s learning through play. It is a privilege to
carry on the commitment of so many to nurture, celebrate and
have fun with the youngest citizens of Minnesota.
