Depart for Vietnam. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment. Welcome
to Vietnam! Arrive in Ho Chi Minh (formerly Saigon), the largest and most populated city in
Vietnam, a dynamic combination of modern skyscrapers and Chinese-style pagodas.

DAY 2, Friday - Ho Chi Minh Tour
Meet your Tour Manager and fellow travelers this morning at a briefing about the exciting
journey that awaits you in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Afterwards, a guided tour of
dynamic Ho Chi Minh including views of the 19th century neo-Romanesque Notre Dame
Cathedral and the former Presidential Palace, re-named Reunification Hall. Continue past
the former U.S. Embassy, the French-influenced Central Post Office and the beautiful
Saigon Opera House. From here, walk through lively Ben Thanh Market with its huge display
of wares and to busy Dong Khoi Street, the city's central shopping area. Explore on your
own or join this afternoon's fascinating optional tour to the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels, part of
a secretive underground tunnel network built by the Viet Cong. Tonight, perhaps try one of

DAY 3, Saturday - Chinatown, Boat Ride on the Canals, Lunch with a Local Family
Morning drive to Cholon, Vietnam's energetic Chinatown, with its classical architecture and
authentic Chinese atmosphere. At the crowned Binh Tay Market, see stalls jam-packed with
everything from fresh produce to items with a distinct Chinese flavor. View the impressive
Thien Hau Pagoda, beautifully decorated with small delicately fashioned porcelain figurines
expressing themes from Chinese religion and legends. On to Bach Dang Pier to board a
boat that takes us along the narrow canals, passing old houses, undeveloped towns and
mini floating markets - a great prospective of traditional Vietnamese life on the river banks.
Then, we meet a local family and share an authentic home-cooked Vietnamese lunch in their
home. Hear about their cooking techniques, the lifestyle and the culture of the area. Return

DAY 4, Sunday - Port of My Tho, Cruise Embarkation
Our adventure begins today as we drive through the scenic countryside to the port city of My
Tho, gateway to the Mekong. Here, we board the luxurious Mekong Navigator that takes us
on an amazing journey upstream on the Mekong through Vietnam and Cambodia. Time to
settle in and become acquainted with all of the lovely facilities on board. This evening, attend
the Welcome Reception followed by a delicious Vietnamese Themed Dinner that celebrates

DAY 5, Monday - Cai Be's Floating Market, Historic Sa Dec
Arrive in Cai Be harbor. Here, we board a traditional "native" sampan that sails to the lively
floating market where more than 500 vendors gather each day. Watch as the local workers
bargain for goods; see the colorful varieties of fruits, vegetables and handmade products
displayed on tall wooden poles. Don't miss the sight of the huge French Gothic Cathedral
dominating the landscape as we sail by! Tour the house and gardens of film director Anh
Kiet, built in an ancient architectural style. After a visit to a traditional rice factory, back to the
ship in time for lunch. Time to enjoy the delightful scenery as we sail upstream. Later,
navigate the narrow canals of the Mekong traveling to Sa Dec. Enjoy views of stately
colonial architecture, old mansions and merchant homes before stopping at a local factory to
see the process of brick-making with clay from the Mekong. Stop at the local market before
continuing to the home of Hyynh Thuy Le, inspiration for Duras' novel, L'Amant (The Lover)

DAY 6, Tuesday - Chau Doc Harbor, Arrive in Phnom Penh
Morning panoramic sampan cruise of Chau Doc Harbor, an important stop on the river route
between Vietnam and Cambodia. After visiting this culturally diverse town with its significant
Chinese, Cham and Khmer communities and the colorful Tay An Pagoda, stop at a local
family's fish farm to hear about this very important Vietnamese industry. After lunch on
board, the ship crosses the border into Cambodia. After formalities, notice the drastic
change in the architecture as we sail along the river. The rest of the day is at leisure on
board. The anticipation of new and exciting discoveries grows as we arrive in Cambodia's
Phnom Penh harbor tonight
We are unable to dock or proceed into the city until the customs office opens in the morning.
During periods of unusually high water, it may not be possible to dock at Chau Doc harbor; a
visit to the village of Hong Ngu may be substituted

DAY 7, Wednesday - Phnom Penh City Tour
Begin the day with a city tour of French-inspired Phnom Penh by cyclo (3-wheel bicycle).
Travel along the riverfront to the Royal Palace complex; view Throne Hall and the Moonlight
Pavilion. Then, visit the world-famous Silver Pagoda, home of Cambodia's Emerald Buddha
and Maitreya Buddha, encrusted with more than 9,000 diamonds. Continue to the National
Museum of Cambodia, with its extensive display of Khmer archaeological treasures. The
afternoon is free for personal pursuits. Shop at the local markets, quaint boutiques, or just
people-watch from a charming outdoor café. Tonight, we'll be entertained with traditional folk
dances and Apsara on board by a group of local children

DAY 8, Thursday - Cambodia's Historical Sites
This morning, we learn more about the darkest days of Cambodian history. After a scenic
45-minute drive from the ship is the Choeung Ek killing fields, we have the opportunity to
walk through the fields, visit the small museum and Memorial Stupa, and learn more about
the atrocities committed during the Khmer Rouge regime. Before returning to the ship, we
also tour Tuol Sleng (also known as S-21), the former school that was converted to the main
prison and torture headquarters of the Khmer Rouge. Our afternoon is, again, at leisure, with
many wonderful options. A short, traditional shadow puppet show will be performed before
dinner this evening, and the manager will tell us about the artistic process of creating the
beautiful, leather puppets, as well as explain the performance art

DAY 9, Friday - Cruise the Tonle Sap River
The entire day is spent sailing on the scenic Tonle Sap River -- see an up-close glance of
rural life along the winding river. After lunch, a private boat transports us on a panoramic
cruise of the floating villages at Kampong Chhnang. Perhaps, time to meet some friendly
local people that live, work, and shop on the river. Afterward, we return to the ship and set
sail at sunset. The local children bid us farewell from the riverbank as we continue our
journey up the Mekong River
During exceptionally high water, it may not be possible to sail up the Tonle Sap River. In this
case, a visit to the ancient Khmer capital of Oudong may be substituted

DAY 10, Saturday - Buddhist Water Blessing at Wat Hanchey, Kampong Cham
Walk up the steep hill this morning to hilltop Wat Hanchey*; see a variety of temples at this
site, including an 8th century temple from the pre-Angkor Chenla period. We receive a
traditional Buddhist Water Blessing from the monastery's monks as they chant harmoniously
together. Time to linger at the monastery enjoying spectacular views of the valley below.
Following lunch on board ship, afternoon drive to Kampong Cham; ascend the hills of
Phnom Pros (man hill) and Phnom Srei (woman hill). View the impressive stupa with its
reclining Buddha and preaching Buddha. At the end of the day, visit the 12th century
Angkorian-period complex of Wat Nokor Bachey, with several original statues of Buddha.

DAY 11, Sunday - Siem Reap, Cambodian Dinner and Dance Show
We say good-bye to the Mekong Navigator and her crew, as our journey on the Mekong
comes to an end. After disembarkation, on to fascinating Siem Reap, home to the
archaeological wonders of Angkor Wat. In the afternoon, discover the city's center with its
variety of cafes, restaurants and shops offering hand-made silk goods and the famous
Cambodian puppets. This evening, you're invited to a festive Cambodian Dinner along with a
traditional Apsara dance

DAY 12, Monday - Angkor Wat, one of the "Seven Wonders of the World"
Today, you'll understand why the architectural masterpieces of Angkor Thom and Angkor
Wat, are designated as one of the "Seven Wonders of the World". This sprawling city, built
by Khmer Kings was once home to more than one million people at the height of the empire.
On the visit to the fortified city of Angkor Thom visit the Elephants Terrace and Terrace of
the Leper King, all adorned with dramatic bas-reliefs. Continue to the mysterious Bayon
Temple, highlight of Angkor Thom, replete with beautifully preserved bas-reliefs and more
than 172 giant smiling stone faces. On to the monuments of Keo, Kravan and Sras Srang
before arriving at Ta Prohm, where the jungle was left untouched, as it appeared to
European explorers. The highpoint of the day is the visit to stunning Angkor Wat, a temple
dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. World-famous for its beauty and splendor, Angkor Wat
has the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, which runs along the entire outer gallery
walls, narrating stories from Hindu mythology. Stay to experience the unforgettable sunset a view that cannot be compared to anything you have ever seen!

DAY 13, Tuesday - Tonle Sap Lake, Flight to Bangkok
Morning drive along the rolling verdant hills of the farm lands, stopping for a ride on an ox-
cart, the vehicle still being used today by local farmers. Arrive at Tonle Sap Lake in the heart
of Cambodia, with its rich and diverse ecosystem. Embark on a serene boat excursion observe the local life unfolding and the floating fishing villages that dot the shoreline. Later,
visit to the National Museum with its multi-media exhibits depicting the Golden Era of the
Khmer Kingdom. Depart Siem Reap this afternoon on your flight to Bangkok; arrive and
transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy all of the delights of
Bangkok on your own. Shop to your heart's content, visit to the many amazing markets, and
try some of the fabulous restaurants in this energetic city

awaits you. Afterwards, continue on a city and temple tour of Bangkok, a fascinating mix of
ancient and modern. Begin the tour at Chinatown and then on to the colorful Indian Market.
Visit serene Wat Po, the oldest and largest temple in the city, with the astonishing giant
Reclining Buddha, over 150 feet long and almost 40 feet high. Drive to Royal Avenue where
most of the Government offices are located and the King's Palace before returning to your

form the most impressive sights in Bangkok. Despite the proximity of the two, there's a
distinct contrast in style between the Thai-inspired Wat Phra Kaew and the European design

performance of the "Journey to the Enchanted Kingdom of Siam". Boasting over 150

DAY 17, Monday - Travel to Ayutthaya, Ayutthaya City Tour
Depart Bangkok to Ayutthaya, the second Siamese capital after Sukhothai for over 400
years, once glorified as one of the largest cities in Southeast Asia. Ayutthaya Historical Park,
designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lies in the center of the city. Here, you can see
the ruins of the former capital and its remaining palaces, monasteries and towers - one can
envision the grandeur and splendour that was once the Kingdom of Ayutthaya. Visit Bang
Pa-In Palace, a collection of beautiful buildings in various architectural styles, surrounded by
a lake. Originally built by King Prasattong in 1632, Bang Pa-In served as the Royal Summer
Palace for the Thai Kings. If time permits, there may be a visit to a local school on the way to
Ayutthaya. Continue to the Chai Wattanaram Temple, built by King Prasat Tong to honor his
mother, conceived as a replica of the Angkor Temple - this is a serene place where one can

DAY 18, Tuesday - Travel to Sukhothai
Travel northward to Sukhothai, birthplace of the Thai nation, founded in the 13th century by
King Ramkhamhaeng. The country's first capital was established here in 1238 and lasted
over two centuries. Sukhothai is world-famous its over 100 historical sites and treasures,
including some of the most beautiful Thai art and architecture in the country, created during
the city's "golden era", between the 13th and 14th centuries. Visit to the Old Town of
Sukhothai with its impressive Historical Park, immaculately restored and set among leafy
hills and peaceful lotus ponds, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At this
astonishing site, most of the remains of the original city can be seen. Marvel at the ancient
Buddha figures, palaces, temples and historical monuments and feel yourself drift back in
time to a bygone era

DAY 20, Thursday - Mae Sai Border Town & Golden Triangle
Travel to the border town of Mae Sai, at the tip of Thailand. At this border crossing,
arrangements may be made to enter Myanmar*. Ascend to the hilltop viewpoint to see the
famous "Golden Triangle" of Southeast Asia - meeting point of the borders of Thailand,
Myanmar and Laos. The locals call it "Sop Ruak", as this is also where the Mekong meets
the Ruak River. A short cruise then takes you along the banks of the Mekong to the small
island of Don Sao in Laos; leisure time at the lively markets before returning to Thailand.
Continue to the dramatic House of Opium at Golden Triangle Park, offering an informative
exhibition on the history of opium which dates back almost 5000 years. Later, savor a locally
