It needs to be experienced first hand to be properly understood. In ancient yogic texts the sages use the example of a person trying to describe the taste of honey to someone who has never tasted something sweet. No matter how precisely the words describe the experience of sweet it is only by tasting the honey yourself that you can really understand it properly. Meditation is a journey into your own self. It is the process of finding peace within your own being and the direct experience of that peace. It has to be practiced regularly over a period of time to begin to understand the process and to glimpse the profound nature of the experience. The system of meditation that will be taught in this course is the Raja Yoga system of the Himalayan Tradition. The Himalayan Tradition of raja yoga is a living tradition that has been passed down from teacher to student in an unbroken lineage for over 5000 years.
