PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY
The 29th running of the prestigious Langebaan/Saldanha downwind dash will be held over a week end during the window
period 24 January 2015 to 08 February 2015. This challenge, which is open to windsurfers, kite boarders, hobie catamarans
and sailing dinghies, is without doubt the largest gathering of water sport enthusiasts in Africa. The race attracts leading
international competitors, but is also an opportunity for all levels of expertise, juniors, family groups and leisure sailors to
test their skills.
The profile of competitors and the numbers together for a major event provides you with an outstanding opportunity to
promote your brand. The attached proposal outlines the various levels of sponsorship and the promotional activities
available to you.

The 2015 Langebaan/Saldanha Downwind Dash
The Downwind Dash is a one day challenge to be held in Langebaan, South Africa over a week
end during the window period 24 January 2015 to 08 February 2015.
Reputed to be the biggest kite and windsurfer event in Africa, over 300
entries are expected, including a large contingent of international participants.

Sailed over a 20 km course from Langebaan to Saldanha.
Run successfully since 1984.
Attracts over three hundred participants.
Host to the worlds best competitors.
One of the largest kite and windsurf races in the world,
undoubtedly the premier event for kite surfers and
windsurfers in South Africa.
Soukje Bredenkamp – undeniably SA’s
speed queen and Downwind Dash regular.
Former participants include:
• Aaron Hadlow – 5x World Champion
of Kitesurfing,
• Soukje Bredenkamp – female world
and SA speed sailing record holder,
• Alex Cazerigues –world speed sailing
record holder, and many others !
Participant Profile:
• Predominantly a medium and high income,
highly dynamic demographic.
• Have disposable income for (expensive)
leisure activities.
• Active with a healthy lifestyle.
• On average aged 34 (youngest 9 and the
oldest 62).

with families and younger performance
athletes.

p o s s i b l e w e e k e n d s ,
