On behalf of my City Council
colleagues, it is my pleasure to
introduce the Fall-Winter 2014/2015
Activity Guide. As summer draws to
a close, focus shifts to programs and
activities for our upcoming fall/winter
seasons. We have a lot to offer! From
sporting events to leisure, culture and
art activities there is an abundance of
things to do for people of all ages. So
mark your calendar and plan early!
This Guide is a blueprint of the many activities planned in Corner
Brook for the upcoming fall/winter season. I encourage you to
review the Guide and plan early to take advantage of the many
opportunities to stay active. No matter what your interest, there
is plenty of options available to you. Corner Brook and the
Humber Valley Region has one of the most spectacular autumn
seasons with the brilliance of red and golden blazing throughout
the landscape. For winter enthusiasts, we don’t disappoint. Our
heavy annual snowfall guarantees lots of skiing, snowshoeing,
snowmobiles, winter festivals and lots of fun in the snow.
Whether you are a volunteer or a participant, becoming involved
in cultural, social and recreational programs is the perfect
ingredient to maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
From snowshoeing, skiing, skating to drama, arts, dance there
are many wonderful activities to look forward to during the
upcoming seasons.
Enjoy everything Corner Brook has to offer. Without a doubt
we are a four-season destination offering seasonally changing
activities and programs that are fun for everyone.

Janeway Children’s Hospital
Jamarama
Jamarama is one of the Janeway’s most important (and
entertaining) fundraising events. The premise is simple…
people all across Newfoundland and Labrador raise money
and collect pledges to wear their pajamas to work, school
or out-and-about on October 17th, 2014 in support of
the Janeway and all our kids. Wearing pajamas is a sign of
solidarity and support for sick kids – it lets them know that
we understand what they are going through, and that we
are fighting for them. Raise Money. Wear PJs. Help Kids.
For more information please contact the Janeway – at
709-777-4640 or via e-mail at phyllis.kinsmann@

The Magic Flute
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Magic Flute is a fairy-tale
opera/singspiel in two acts. It is a celebration of true love
conquering all, transporting the audience into an enchanted
world with dragons and magic flutes and bells, an evil
sorceress, children in flying machines and a bird-man, a
courageous prince and an enlightened ruler.

“On July 24, 2014 representatives from the City of Corner Brook, Corner Brook Baseball
Association and the Toronto Blue Jays Jays Care Foundation, announced funding of
$71,000.00 for the refurbishments of Little Jubilee Field! This funding comes from the
Jays Care Foundation “Field of Dreams” Program. Roberto Alomar, Sandy Alomar Sr.,
Lloyd Moseby and Duane Ward were also on hand for the announcement as part of the
Blue Jays Honda Super Camp Baseball Academy where over 90 children participated.
The Field of Dreams funding will be used for important upgrades to Little Jubilee Field
including new dugouts with UV Protection, new spectator bleachers, improvement in
Deputy Mayor Bernd Staeben
lighting and a scoreboard upgrade.
with Baseball Hall of Famer
Roberto Alomar.
Thank you Jays Care Foundation for making this possible!”
