Six Fascinating Facts About Our Favorite Hues
Light & Color
Color has the power to cause physiological changes in humans – excitement, sadness, and even hunger.
Learn more about your favorite colors and their effect on your mood and the world as we know it.
1
Red: The color known to bring out the roar in people.
Athletes play more aggressively against teams clad in
red. Drivers are known to be more aggressive in red
cars – no wonder they cost more to insure. Even
when someone gets mad, their face turns red.
4
Green: Want to fuel creativity? This popular color is a
great choice, as green has been linked with improving
imaginative thinking.
2
Orange: Studies show that two rooms that are the same
temperature will feel different to people based on the color.
If you want a room to feel warmer, consider colors on the
warm end of the spectrum like orange.
5
Blue: Blue is known for its calming, relaxing effect –
and even its ability to fuel focus. Maybe that’s why it’s the
color preferred by more people than any other.
3
Yellow: Even though red has the power to get a reaction,
many fire trucks are painted Lime Yellow. Simply because
this color is easier for the human eye to see at night.
6
Violet: This is the color that has traditionally been
associated with royalty. The dye used for purple fabrics
used to be rare, so that’s why only the wealthy could
5
afford garments in this color.

a cozy focal point.

Save Money
& Energy
See How Much You Could Save
With energy-efficient lighting the savings can truly add up. Switching an entire
household to GE’s LEDs does require an investment, but it pays off big time.
Replacing a 60W standard bulb with just one of GE’s 10.5W LEDs can
save you $81 over the life of the bulb. That’s enough for a nice date
night dinner.
Replacing just five 60W standard bulbs with GE’s 10.5W LEDs can save you
$405 over the life of the bulbs. That’s enough for a 42” flat screen TV.
If you replace ten 60W standard bulbs with GE’s 10.5W LEDs, you can
save $810 over the life of the bulbs. That’s a new wardrobe – complete
with shoes.
Spotlight on Bottom-line
Lighting can do so much to enhance the style and décor in your home, but it
can also do a lot for your budget. Cutting energy bills is a great way to reduce
wasteful spending. On the top of most “how to” lists: energy-saving light bulbs.
And there’s a reason: Old light bulbs waste a lot of energy.
The average household has about forty light bulbs in it. If you replaced
forty 60W standard bulbs with GE’s 10.5W LEDs, it would be a savings of
$3,240! That’s enough for a family vacation in the Caribbean.

A note on “brightness”
Most people think that wattage defines the “brightness” or “light quality”
emitted by a bulb. Look at lumens and color temperature for a real
understanding of the type of light you can expect.
• Brightness is measured in lumens - this number is listed on the
front of the package. The higher the number, the brighter the bulb.
• Color Temperature defines the warmth or coolness of light. Most of
the light is on the warm end of the spectrum at about 2000K – 3000K.
