•
This release supports an increased policy-length restriction for policy messages. In previous
versions of Good Mobile Control, compliance policy messages were restricted to 8k in size.
This limit can break compliance policy checks for Android devices when the size of the policy
is very large. This release removes that limit for Android devices. Policies up to 256K in size
have been tested for Android devices. The GFE Android client 2.6.0 or higher is required.

Issue
If the iOS configuration MDM profile is enabled by GMC
policy for an iOS user/device and that device
uninstalls/reinstalls GFE without being removed from
GMC, the user may be prompted again for profile
installation.
Do not edit or remove a GFE user’s SMTP address in
Exchange or Domino or GFE will not function on the
user’s device. Instead, in such a case add a new
address and make it primary.

Issue
Moving a user to a different server immediately after that user
performs an OTAP may result in a server crash and restart.
The pages of unmanaged applications downloaded from Good are
not localized. Users who select the “Visit Application Catalog”
option on their device will find the list of available applications
displayed in English.
Errors will occur if the SQL Server JDBC driver is installed on the
target machine for GMC installation. Workaround: The installer is
probably looking into the wrong location to find sqljdbc_auth.dll.
Try searching for sqljdbc_auth.dll on the machine and you will
probably find one of the locations to be a system path such as
C:\Windows\SysWOW64. Browse to the path and rename
sqljdbc_auth.dll to sqljdbc_auth.Backup, and continue with the
GMC installation.
InstallShield threw errors when attempting to install MS SQL
Native Client and CLI utilities.
The quantity displayed of provisioned and unprovisioned devices
on the Home page maybe be incorrect due to the presence of
managed clientless devices.

GMC version 1.3.1, with the default File Transfer policy and Send
Attachments enabled, allows the previous Good iOS Client (1.9.5)
and Android Client (1.7.5), as well as the current Android Client
(1.8.0), to import files to Good from third-party applications, but
does not allow the current Good iOS Client (1.9.6) to do so. The

for iOS devices using the current Good Client to import files.

Issue
A User Rejected/Cancel action on the device to install a managed
app results in an incorrect Status/Action displayed in GMC.
Embedded images in older emails in a long string of replies may
be lost.
When a meeting organizer sends an invitation to a user in a
different domain and the invitee mailbox is on an Exchange server
with a different version than the organizer, and this is a recurring
meeting request with attachments, the following issue can occur:
there may be missing attachment names in the body of the
meeting request. However all attachments are accessible using
the paperclip icon, and the icon shows the correct attachment
count.
An unmanaged application will not push to the device after
upgrade until the existing managed app policy is pushed or
modifed to trigger the action. This can take up to 12 hours after the
upgrade.
Exporting all handhelds may run up to 20% slower.
The quantity displayed of provisioned and unprovisioned devices
on the Home page maybe be incorrect due to the presence of
managed clientless devices.
[Hebrew support] The character string "???" is sent from the
server in a Contact name when email is sent from a device.
If a message request is accepted and then modified to show as
tentative in Outlook, the device will continue to display it as
accepted.
InstallShield threw errors when attempting to install MS SQL
Native Client and CLI utilities.
Errors will occur if the SQL Server JDBC driver is installed on the
target machine for GMC installation. Workaround: The installer is
probably looking into the wrong location to find sqljdbc_auth.dll.
Try searching for sqljdbc_auth.dll on the machine and you will
probably find one of the locations to be a system path such as
C:\Windows\SysWOW64. Browse to the path and rename
sqljdbc_auth.dll to sqljdbc_auth.Backup, and continue with the
GMC installation.
The pages of unmanaged applications downloaded from Good are
not localized. Users who select the “Visit Application Catalog”
option on their device will find the list of available applications
displayed in English.
An exception to an appointment cannot be deleted in Outlook after
being updated on the device.
Chinese characters are shown as question marks in message
body text when an invitee has received a meeting request with

After a meeting event’s meeting time is updated from OWA and

GMC Servers installed in 2009 – 2010 (versions >= 1.0.3.30, and
<= 1.0.3.83) and then updated to 2.3.0.402, do not support Priority
Access as currently configured. If you are using GMC 2.3.0.402
and the Priority Access policy Client Type has been properly
configured in GMC, but user devices receive an error during setup
such as “The OTAP fails with an error: your account is not
authorized to use this edition of Good for Enterprise,” you should
contact your authorized service representative to rectify the
problem.
HTML welcome email will not be sent in an Exchange 2003
environment; text welcome email is sent fine. Workaround: In
mixed environments, send HTML welcome email via Exchange

Good Mobile Messaging Server Version 6.4.2.25 (Service Release)
In This Release
This server update, among other things, addresses specific issues related to:
•
•
Cache files possible corruption: This issue is related to the compaction of cache files
on Good Messaging Server for Exchange v6.4.0.10, v6.4.1.15 and v6.4.1.16.
EWS Calendar operations including:
• Under certain conditions, changes to the calendar on the device are not reflected in
Outlook calendar
• Fixed some time zone issues for recurring appointments that are updated from the
device
• Some appointments were not getting deleted from Outlook and Outlook Web Access
(OWA) when deleted from the device
• Monthly recurring appointments created on device were not always synched to OWA
and Outlook
Warning: Do not use the GMC to move users from GMM Server version 6.4 or earlier to
GMM 7.x, or to move users from GMM Server versions 6.4.1.x or earlier to version 6.4.2. To
move users, upgrade the GMM Server itself to the new 7.x version and the users will be
included in the upgrade, or delete the users from the old Server and add and reprovision
them on the new Server.
Using EWS for Calendar
This release resolves Calendar issues when using EWS. CDO is used by default. To enable EWS
for Calendar use, set the following registry override string value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GoodLinkServer\parameters
\ews] "UseEWSCalendar" = “1”
Note: In some cases when using EWS, for non-recurring appointments created on the device, the
time zone used will be that of the GMM.

Product Advisory for GMM Server Exchange 6.4.0.10 and 6.4.1.x
Problem
After upgrading to Good Mobile Messaging Server (GMM) Exchange 6.4.0.10, 6.4.1.15 or
6.4.1.16 one or more of the following symptoms may be observed:
•
•
•
•
Frequent GMM Server service restarts
Delays or interruptions in mail delivery
Multiple users with pending or initializing status
Badge notifications missing on the device
This problem has been reported by a few customers and is related only to GMM Server
upgrades; new installations are not affected.
Cause
The Berkeley Database (BDB), is used by the GMMS to store cache files. The version of BDB
used by GMMS Exchange 6.4.0 and 6.4.1 can cause cache corruptions in some customer
environments. Good Engineering is continuing to attempt to understand the specific
environmental and data related conditions that cause the loss of cache data integrity.
Environment
Good Mobile Messaging Server Exchange upgrades to 6.4: versions 6.4.0.10, 6.4.1.15 and
6.4.1.16.
Remedy
Technical Support recommends that customers do not upgrade to Good Mobile Messaging
Server Exchange 6.4 until Good publishes a new release. Customers who have already upgraded
to GMM Server Exchange 6.4 and are encountering one of the issues noted above are advised to
contact Technical Support and provide the latest GMM diagnostic logs for analysis and problem
detection. For customers who have upgraded to GMM Server Exchange 6.4.x and have not
encountered any problems, there is nothing currently for you to do. When the new service release
becomes available it is recommended that you upgrade to it.
If analysis of GMM logs indicates that cache folders are corrupted, a new cache repair tool needs
to be run. Running the tool will require GMM service downtime. The specific duration of service
unavailability depends on the specific GMMS hardware/software configuration and the number of
devices provisioned against that server.
If analysis of GMM logs indicates that all service restarts are caused by the corruption of one or
very few specific users, it is possible to stabilize the service by temporarily suspending these
users. This does not fix the issue permanently, but will allow the customer to schedule the
downtime required for the fix.
The suspension of user(s) will also help to avoid the risk of more corruptions caused by the
frequent service restarts.
The permanent resolution for the BDB cache corruption problem is included in release 6.4.2.25 of
GMM (see trackers 97182, 97482, 97868 above) at http://www.good.com/support/microsoft23

Good Mobile Messaging Server Version 6.4.1.16 (Service Release)
WARNING: Customers are advised NOT to enable Exchange Web Services (EWS) in this
release, due to a potential problem affecting the calendar operations. These Release Notes will
be updated when the issue has been resolved. If you have already enabled EWS, you are
advised to disable EWS.
To disable EWS, switching to CDO use, set the following registry override string value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GoodLinkServer\pa
rameters\EWS] "UseEWS"="0"
Product Advisory
Problem:
In the previous release, v6.4.0.10, Good Mobile Messaging Server, GMMS, abnormally
terminates, recording an Event Log entry (ID 1299) similar to the following:
24
© Good Technology 2015. All rights reserved.
Although the GMMS service automatically restarts, the abnormal termination can recur. Some
mobile device users may observe missing emails and calendar events on their devices.
Cause:
During GMMS service startup and initialization certain GMMS cache files are compacted to
reduce wasted disk space. During this compaction process corruption of cache files may occur,
and the resulting loss of data integrity can cause the GMMS to abnormally terminate.
Remedy:
The resolution of this problem, in this service release, disables the compaction process during
GMMS startup. As a result of disabling cache compaction, some customers may notice higher
average disk space utilization for GMM cache files, but only a very minor, if any, increase in peak
disk space used.
Good Technology Engineering will continue efforts to more fully resolve errors related to
compaction in the 3rd party software libraries.

Scalability
Exchange GMM has been certified to handle 1050 users while accommodating HTML and GMA
traffic. This performance was attained on the following server configurations:
1. 32-bit version
• GMMS Build 6.3.1.20
• Windows 2003 SP2
28
© Good Technology 2015. All rights reserved.
• 4 GB of RAM
2. 64-bit version
• GMMS Build 6.3.1.24
• Windows 2008 R2
• 8 GB of RAM, quad-core processor
This assumes that 20% of users are currently actively using GMA Secure Browser and 100% are
using the HTML email feature. This assumes a mix of 25% Windows Mobile/Android devices and
75% iOS devices.
Note that these are the minimum requirements to attain this performance. If you are running
older configurations, do not scale to this number; should remain at the users/server guideline that
was communicated to them upon sale.

Issue
The Good Messaging Server does not support using the Good
for Enterprise Client on a device to execute delegate actions
on Calendar items (i.e., creating, modifying and accepting
Calendar appointments). Because the Good Messaging Server
cannot process Calendar items as initiated by a delegate on a
device, the Good Client may not sync these items properly or at
all. Delegates should respond to invitations received, create
invitations, etc., via Outlook on their PC.
[HTC Tilt2] Text prediction is not disabled. In the PIN input
fields, the PIN entered earlier is remembered by system.
Setting the correct address but incorrect port number on GMC
for a proxy server causes incorrect error messages on the Client
using GMA, for https addresses.
If the user has HTML Email turned off on his/her device (in Good
Preferences), and receives an email with an embedded image,
forwarding that email will not deliver that embedded image
When a meeting organizer sends an invitation to a user in a
different domain and the invitee mailbox is on an Exchange
server with a different version than the organizer, the following
issues can occur: (1) If the meeting is a recurring meeting, and
an occurrence is updated by adding attachments, the
subsequent occurrences are inadvertently deleted. (2) If the
domains are in different time zones and a meeting is edited by
the organizer on the mobile device, the starting time is recorded
in an incorrect time zone.
Unchecking MDM policy settings “Query of device information,”
“Query of network information,” “Restriction-related queries,”
“Security-related queries” may cause Compliance Manager
blacklist/whitelist device checks to fail.
After upgrading GMC to 2.3.0, when the GMA checkbox is
disabled in Settings and enabled in the policy, the GMA icon
does not show up on the device.
The status of a managed application is not displayed correctly if
"Auto Uninstall" in unchecked.

[Exchange 2013] After updating recurring meetings by changing
the number of attachments from OWA, meeting updates are not
syncing to device. This is not a GMMS issue, but a limitation of
Exchange 2013 Server.
Organizer receives the “Meeting forwarded notification” in the
Deleted folder when a meeting request is forwarded on behalf of
him/her. When EWS is enabled for Calendar, this issue is not
reproduced.
Cancellation notice is not received on Invitee's device when
organizer removes invitee from GMM Client. When EWS is
enabled for Calendar, this issue is not reproduced.
Forwarded meeting is not delivered from Exchange to Domino.
When EWS is enabled for Calendar, this issue is not
reproduced.
[Exchange 2013] Out of Office message set on the device does
not sync to Outlook. Also, when an email is sent to an account
where Out of Office is enabled, it will not receive the message.
This is a MAPI/CDO limitation.
Accepted recurring meeting starts 01/01/1970. This issue occurs
only on Windows 8 Phone and Tablet. When EWS is enabled for
Calendar, this issue is not reproduced.
Accept/Tentative/Decline emails for a recurring meeting are not
visible in Sent Items folder. This issue occurs only on Windows
8 Phone and Tablet. When EWS is enabled for Calendar, this
issue is not reproduced.
[Domino] Error occurs when moving GMC databases to a
different server. Workaround requires a manual registry change.
A GMC configured for Kerberos Single Sign On via the GMC
Settings > Login Settings page cannot be accessed from the
machine it is installed on.
IE browser timeout after half an hour will cause GMC password
to fail upon reentry. Entering the password a second time is
successful. Chrome and Firefox do not share this problem.
Deleting a trusted GMC from the Move Handhelds page may fail
with an error: “The remote GMC was not verified.” Retrying the
operation will be successful
GMC v2.4.0.501 installation in a Windows 2008 SP2
environment will encounter a pop-up error near the end of the
process. Workaround: click the “Close the program” link on the
pop-up and all subsequent pop-ups. The installation will
conclude successfully. Alternatively, upgrade to Windows 2008
R2 SP1.
When installing SQL server 2008 on Windows server 2012, a
