One of only two Level IV NICUs in Wisconsin, this unit provides care to premature and fullterm neonates requiring complex surgical interventions or ongoing subspecialty care. Twenty six trips were made in that first month. Today, Med Flight has transported more than 31,000 patients and serves the region 24/7 with two full-time EC 135 helicopters. Since beginning service, Med Flight has been one of only a few air medical transport programs in the country that staffs a physician and registered nurse on each transport. The CHETA team travels throughout the region to transport severely ill or injured children to UW Health’s American Family Children’s Hospital. The ambulance uses equipment designed specifically for pediatric patients. The crew truly goes the extra mile to ensure the safety fo r of ar Tra n s p ort C e rs 1 0 Ye a UW MED FLIGHT CHETA Kids 2015 NOVEMBER and well-being of the patient. Besides specialized medical care, they offer warm smiles, a hand to hold, mobile games and music, and sometimes bubbles to distract and help relax the children and babies they serve. For referring providers, the CHETA program also provides consultations with a pediatric intensivist and educational training for referring hospital staff. Identify hazards. Describe LZ and any landmarks. Do not use hand signals. If you cannot communicate directly with the pilot, contact your Comm Center or Med Flight Comm Center and we can set up a phone relay. Med Flight Radio Frequencies Mark II (151.280 tone 136.5), WI State EMS (155.340 no tone) or VHF 123.05 Approaching the Aircraft • Never approach the rear of the aircraft. • Do not approach the aircraft unless directed to by Med Flight personnel. • Keep ALL vehicles 50 ft. from the aircraft. • Upon landing, the Med Flight crew will deplane and come to you. • Do not bring the patient to the aircraft until directed by Med Flight personnel.
