As we enter 2015, we look back on a year of solid accomplishments including
the addition of 24/7 service with both helicopters and the ability to transport
neonates by ground and air. We fully appreciate the critical role our transport
program plays as part of a Level One Trauma Center and Burn Center.

On April 22, 1985, UW Med Flight began offering service with a single engine
Dauphin aircraft. Twenty six trips were made in that first month. Today,
Med Flight has transported more than 31,000 patients and serves the region
24/7 with two full-time EC 135 helicopters. Since beginning service, Med Flight
has been one of only a few air medical transport programs in the country that
staffs a physician and registered nurse on each transport.

Our Med Flight and CHETA programs combine to provide a unique resource
to the region. When Med Flight is called for a pediatric transport, a CHETA
crew member trained in respiratory therapy and pediatric specialty care will
accompany the flight nurse and physician. We are proud to have this unique
capability to care for critically ill children.
