Grand Cafe Villandry Wine List

Grand Cafe Villandry
Wine List
This is a wine list consisting of carefully selected wines from all
parts of the world. My philosophy regarding the selection is not
based on country, but rather on style and beauty of wine.
I would like to offer customers a choice of different wines by the
bottle or by the glass (175ml glass, 125ml glass, and 50ml tastings
- in some cases). This allows you to commit to enjoy a glass before
you commit to a bottle. Have a bit of fun - try something different!
For times when you just know what you want and want a slightly
bigger glass, there is the 175ml option.
Our wine list starts with bubbles to refresh the palate and get the
appetite going, moving on to light, zesty whites to complement
seafood and starters, through to rich, tannic and juicy reds to
combat the richness of say a Chateaubriand . And of course there is
the touch of sweetness at the end of the list
Bon appetit!
Wines of the month
Every month we will be hosting a Winemakers event with a chosen producer.
Drawing inspiration from this event we would like to offer you the opportunity
to try a range of their wines during that month at a discounted price.
A chosen site referred to by Aboriginals as "tabilk-tabilk" meaning "place of
many waterholes".
Tahbilk Estate, established in 1860 is one of the region’s oldest family owned
wineries. Although Marsanne is originally a grape from northern Rhone, it is
in the Nagambie Lakes region of Victoria, Australia, where some of the world’s
largest single holding of Marsanne as well as the oldest (together with Shiraz)
vines exist today.
By showcasing two single grapes we would like to highlight the difference
between vintages and aged vines, giving you the opportunity to taste the same
grape as it has evolved from aged vines as well as in the bottle.
Leading US industry publication ‘Wine & Spirits Magazine’ has, for the sixth
time, nominated Tahbilk as one of its International Wineries of the Year for
2013.
