Online Registration: Begins Monday, December 1 at 8:30
am and runs continuously through December 19 for all Winter
Programs. Seventy-five percent of all registrations will be accepted online! Classes with limited enrollment will close when

SUNNYSIDE PARK
TENNIS
Located between Oak Ave. and Ivy Lane. Used for baseball, softball and soccer. PERMIT ONLY! . Walking track and playground
on site.
There are seven (7) tennis courts located at Roosevelt Common
(three are lighted). Badges are required for use of Municipal Tennis
Courts from April 1st through Labor Day. Badges may be purchased in the Recreation Office for a small fee. THS matches and
Tenafly Recreation lessons have priority use of the courts. Open

McCANDLESS COMMUNITY ROOM
Located in the Municipal Center, it is used primarily for Recreation
and Library programs and by Borough organizations. “Use of
Room” Permit must be obtained from the Recreation Office. Nonresidents and outside organizations must receive approval from the
Recreation Board and/or the Mayor and Council.
Municipal courts are located on Tenafly Road across from the Post
Office. Courts are lighted from dusk to 10:00 pm with the exception of December, January and February when the lights are off.
WALKING/JOGGING
There is a walking track at Sunnyside Park on Ivy Lane.
ADA COMPLIANT PROGRAMS
SKATE PARK
The skate park is located in the Roosevelt Common. The skate park
is open after school and on weekends, weather permitting. In-line
skates and skateboards only. Safety equipment needs to be worn at
all times. For use, a badge must be obtained from the Recreation Office.

General Information
PERMITS
PAYMENT POLICIES
*Permits for use of Borough facilities can be obtained through
the Recreation Office in Borough Hall. Permits are required
for use of all Borough fields and facilities and are subject to
Recreation Board approval. Permit applications from private
organizations will require additional approval by the Mayor
and Council.
Walk-In Registration: Full payment must accompany the registration form. Payment can be made by check or exact cash
only. Checks must be made payable to Tenafly Recreation.
There is a $20.00 fee for overdrawn checks.
Online Registration: Full payment is required and paid by
debit or credit card only!
LATE REGISTRATION FEES
REGISTRATION ELIGIBILITY
Residents of Tenafly and Alpine are eligible to participate in
our programs providing proof of age and grade requirements
are met where specified. Non-residents will be able to register
one full week after the Tenafly resident registration date,
providing there is space in the program. A fee and a half will
be charged to all non-residents; i.e. a $40.00 program would
cost $60.00 for a non-resident ($40+$20).
REGISTRATION
All programs require an individual registration form.
Registration dates are stated boldly on page 2. Please check your
dates and plan your schedule carefully. You may register for
your immediate family and one other person. Registrations
WILL NOT be accepted by the instructor. Tenafly Youth
Sports: Jr. Soccer League, Youth Basketball & Little League
Baseball & Softball may have registrations prior to release of
our seasonal brochures. In our instructional programs, it is
recommended that parents and baby-sitters do not stay on
site unless stated.
ENROLLMENT
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Each program is explained after the title. The number of sessions, location age requirements, fees, instructor’s name and
class size limit are indicated.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
Please DO NOT discard your brochure or class schedule. The
instructor will distribute schedules on the first day of class. In
the event of instructor illness, TRB will attempt to contact the
participants by phone and email and will post a sign at the location. All postponements will be made up. If Tenafly Public
Schools are closed, Tenafly Recreation will not hold most programs. Please be sure to check with the instructor.
REFUNDS/CANCELLATIONS
THERE ARE NO REFUNDS ONCE THE PROGRAM BEGINS! An $18.00 administrative fee will be assessed to all
refunds unless we cancel the program. Tenafly Recreation reserves the right to cancel, reschedule or combine activities as
needed. ALL REFUND VOUCHERS MUST BE
RETURNED WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF RECEIPT.
Each program accepts a limited number of participants based
on the type of program and instructor’s decision. A 75/25
split of online and walk-in registrations will be accepted.
WAIT LIST
In the event your desired class fills, be sure to have your name
placed on a wait list. This enables us to fill vacancies left by
withdrawals and to document interest, add classes and meet
greater demand.
Borough of Tenafly
Any Tenafly resident who registers after the one full week of
registration will be charged a $5.00 late fee for a program of
$50.00 or less and a $10.00 late fee for a program over $50.00.
PUBLICITY
Tenafly Recreation advertises with a seasonal brochure mailed
to all homes in Tenafly. Our brochure is also available on the
Borough of Tenafly website (www.tenaflynj.org).
EQUIPMENT/UNIFORM RETURN POLICY
Participants who do not return equipment/uniform to the Recreation Department are prohibited from participating in future
programs until equipment/uniform is returned or compensation
is made.

Artists Like ME! Do you like to fling, splatter and mix
paint colors? So did the Abstract Expressionists! Create
sprinkly donut treats like Wayne Thiebaud, awesome flower scenes like Claude Monet, paint POPPING lines like
D’Arcangelo, design wall sculptures and more-you will use

Youth Programs
BALLET/TAP
In this class the children will learn basic ballet technique, all
while working on balance and coordination. The children will
learn all 5 positions and focus on center floor work including
tendues, plies, rond de jambs and sautés just to name a few.
Each week the children will review what they have learned and
add at least one new step. We will sing and dance to fun songs
to help the children remember what they have learned. In this
style of dance the children will be focusing on the correct use of
their tap shoes. The children will learn basic tap technique such
as shuffles, toe taps, digs and corkscrews. During class we will
work on a combination to show at the end of the 8 weeks. The
children will love to “boogie woogie” and show off the steps
they have learned.

TOTAL GOLF ADVENTURES
TGA-Premier Junior Golf is the only national at-school, after
school junior golf enrichment program. Locally, TGA has run
junior golf programs since 2006, teaching the lifelong sport to
5,000 youth of Bergen County. The TGA curriculum utilizes
drills and language that make it fun to learn golf for kids in
grades K-8. As students advance through the 5-level program
they will learn basics and fundamentals of the sport, all the
while being prepared to play on the golf course. All new students begin in the YELLOW level and can advance all the way
to the BLACK level.

RECKY’S PRESCHOOL FUN CAMP
Camp for children entering grades K-6
will be held at the Tenafly Middle School
June 25-July 31, 2015
9:00 am-3:00 pm daily Rain or Shine!
Join us for six weeks of fun! Camp will include daily special
events, arts & crafts, cool downs and more! A talent show and
many more fun activities are planned! Children must be
potty trained. Children should wear a bathing suit every
day. An Ice Pop is provided at dismissal. A copy of the
child’s birth certificate is required at registration.
(Children who have graduated from Kindergarten should join
Recky’s K-6 Day Camp)

CAMP TODDLE
Welcome to Camp Toddle 2015! Come and enjoy a “staycation” in Tenafly this summer at Camp Toddle! Have fun
with indoor play and age appropriate crafts in our air conditioned facility. Join our camp puppet Campy outside for circle time, fun activities, a yummy snack and water play at
Camp Toddle Beach! Camp Toddle is a great way to make
new friends. Camp Toddle is geared for parent/caregiver and
toddler. Please bring a bathing suit, towel for your child and
water diaper if needed. Please note that siblings will not be

Summer Camp/Adult Programs
Can you believe school has just started and we are
planning for Summer Camp 2015! This year the
Tenafly Youth Services will host the 14th Annual
Tenafly Teen Summer Camp for students entering
the 6th – 12th grade. This year’s camp will start
on June 25, 2015 and end on August 7, 2015. The
2015 Teen Summer Camp will feature trips to
amazing attractions like Great Adventure, Mountain Creek, Catamount Adventure Park as well as
going to the Yankees and the Mets baseball games.
Two trips that we added last year were to the
Brooklyn Cyclones and Zoom Ziplines at Mountain Creek.
The Teen Summer Camp offers four different programs: (1) a seven-week program; (2) a four-week
program, (3) a weekly program with your choice
of weeks, and (4) a trips only.
The Tenafly Youth Services staff is currently investigating the option of a Tenafly Teen Travel Camp.
The Tenafly Teen Travel Camp will consist of the
15 trips currently being hosted by the Tenafly
Teen Summer Camp as well as offering several
other trips such as a trip to Disney World, a trip
to the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame and many more.

PASSION FOR PILATES
Wake Up and stretch with Regina to invigorate your body, mind and
spirit. Pilates is an exercise method designed by Joseph Pilates in the
1920’s. Pilates focuses on core stability, control and balance. It will
tone and strengthen your entire body, which also helps in weight loss.
Pilates is beneficial for any age and fitness level, all you need is the
PASSION to do it! Please bring water and a pilates mat (no less
than 1/2 inch thick so your spine/back are properly cushioned).

HEALTHY TAI CHI CHUAN
Tai Chi was developed in China over 400 years ago for health and selfdefense. Tai Chi movements are a combination of slow motions and
Qi Gong meditation. Practicing Healthy Tai Chi can improve one’s
arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes, immune system, flexibility, balance
and muscular strength. This class is for beginners and intermediates
