First Thoughts
Life is marked by
change and transition. How
we miss Pastor Bob and
Linnie –they served the
Lord with excellence and
loved us well. We now look
toward the horizon and to
the year of 2015 with anticipation knowing that God
has in mind a shepherd who
will come and serve this
church family.
In the meantime
there are some exciting
plans afoot:
On the first Sunday
of the New Year, we will
open Paul’s Letter to the
“Dandridgians.” In following Sundays we will study
“Jesus’ Portrait of Jesus’
People” – a study on the
Beatitudes—in the morning,
and in the evening we will
work through the Joseph
story. On Wednesday nights
we will begin an Introduction to the New Testament
as though you were students
taking the course on campus. You will be given a file
and lecture notes each
Wednesday.
One of my mentors,
John Stott, who was the
Queen of England’s chaplain, wrote in his last days a
book entitled ”The Living
Church: Convictions of a
Lifelong Pastor.” I shared
the framework of his dream
for a New Testament church
in the 21st century with the
deacons in our December
meeting:
May God bless
you and yours during this
Noel season as we remember the One who entered the world as a baby
wrapped in swaddling
clothes and nestled in a
cradle in Bethlehem. May
