SCOPE OF WORK The General Contractor will be responsible for scheduling and management of sub-trades. All work is to be completed in accordance with the project drawings and specifications, our corporate design standards and municipal approval requirements. EXAMINATION Bidders shall examine all Bid documents and shall also visit the place of work and carefully examine all conditions affecting the site and all work to be done. Claims for additional compensation will not be considered for conditions which can be determined by examination of the Bid documents or the site, or both. DISQUALIFICATION OF BIDS Bids received without complete information as specified, or which are conditional, illegible or obscure, or which contain additional terms, reservations, alterations or irregularities of any kind may be disqualified as informal at the sole discretion of Rexall. CONTRACT AWARD Rexall is not bound to accept the lowest, or any proposal, or to give any reason for its decision in this regard, nor will it be responsible for any expenses or losses which may be incurred by the Bidder in undertaking the pre-proposal meeting and tour in the preparation of its proposal. Rexall reserves the right to waive any informalities, irregularities, errors, or other anomalies in a Bidders proposal and/or any informalities or irregularities in the bidding procedures as set out herein. Bids shall remain irrevocable and open for acceptance for a period of sixty (60) days following the Bid closing time. PERMITS Development and Building Permits will be obtained and paid for by Rexall. All other permits required for the execution of the work are the responsibility of the General Contractor. STORE FIXTURES All retail and warehouse shelving and display fixtures are supplied by Rexall and installed by the General contractor. After the turnover of the retail and warehouse space, the spaces will be occupied by the Rexall franchisee and his forces while the deficiencies are completed on the project. Cooperation is expected to minimize the disruption to each other’s work and this contractor will be responsible to ensure compliance with occupational, health, safety and environmental requirements of the total project until the total project is completed. HEALTH AND SAFETY It is the responsibility of the General Contractor to ensure the Health and Safety of the customers, workers and employees of the Owner are protected by including in the tender all necessary hoarding and safety barriers to allow normal business to take place. If the General Contractor feels that in the interest of time, some work should be carried out “after business hours”, then the costs associated with this work should to be carried in the tender price and the work coordinated with the Rexall franchisee and the Rexall Project Manager. The contractor shall appoint a Construction Safety Officer who will be responsible for chairing and recording weekly meetings concerning job safety, keeping a daily log which documents instructions to Workers and any incidents and making regular tours of the job site to ensure construction practices are safe for the customers, workers and employees of the Owner. The Safety Officer will also liaise with the store Health & Safety Committee to ensure safe working conditions for store personnel. Ensure, at all times on the project, that all employees and workers, including those under direct contact with the Owner and/or Rexall franchisee, comply with all environmental and occupational health and safety requirements of the Owner and of government authorities having jurisdiction. GENERAL NOTES As part of Instruction to Bidders there are building components identified that will be supplied and purchased by Rexall, and handled and installed by the General Contractor and the Subtrades. All warranty work required for the equipment supplied by Rexall (and installed under this contract) will be coordinated by the General Contractor for one (1) year following the date of Substantial Performance (including any related labour costs), or as noted in the Specifications at no additional cost to the Owner. CONTRACT Upon acceptance of the tender, a Letter of Award will be issued. The contract will be prepared using the CCDC2-2008 document. The contract documents are provided in English. The Owner will be noted as: REXALL / PHARMA PLUS KATZ GROUP CANADA LIMITED INVOICING All progress invoices must be submitted to the Consultant for Payment Certification, using the format shown in Section XXXX Measurement and Payment. Invoices will not be corrected by the Consultant or Owner. If any mathematical errors exist, the invoice will be rejected and returned. END.
