2014 Auction Rules
The Ensworth Auction is sponsored by the Ensworth Parent Association for the enhancement
of the learning experience for our students. Our donors are mainly Ensworth parents,
grandparents, alumni, faculty, and friends. All Auction committee chairmen and workers are
parent and faculty volunteers. In appreciation for these gifts of time, effort, merchandise, and
services, please read the following rules carefully before making purchases at the Auction.
General Auction Rules:
Personal Bid Number - At registration you will receive a nametag showing your personal bid
number. Use this number for all bidding.
All Sales are Final! There are no refunds. Do not ask the donor or Ensworth School for
exchanges or changes in the arrangements except where specified. The purchaser must abide
by any restrictions or conditions that apply.
Payment in Full is mandatory on Auction Night. You may pay with check, MasterCard or Visa. A
complete running account of each buyer’s purchases from all auction listings will be kept by the
cashier. Payment for all purchases must be made at the Treasurer’s area before departing. You
may swipe your credit card at check in, authorizing your purchases to be charged to your credit
card account.
Values of items auctioned noted in the catalogue are donor retail price estimates. These values
are not warranted by Ensworth School for tax purposes or general value. The amount of the
purchase price in excess of the value is tax deductible.
All Auction Items must be picked up by Thurs, February 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Red Gables
campus. Ensworth will not be responsible for items left after that time. Special arrangements for
pick-up or delivery of large items must be made at the time of purchase.
Art & Big Board Auction Rules:
The Big Board and Art will open at 6:30 p.m. Closing times will be announced during the evening.
Bid by signing your full name, your bid number, and your bid amount on the next available line on
the bid sheet for the item. Please write legibly.
Bid increases must comply with or exceed the stated minimum increase amount or the bid will
be disqualified. Leave bid sheets on the auction tables.
Live Auction Rules:
The Live Auction begins as stated in the invitation and ends when all items are sold.
Bidding: A bidder must signal the Auctioneer or spotter and be prepared to give the spotter his/
her bid number. Bidding must be prompt. The Auctioneer will not allow bidders to bid against
themselves.
Low Bidding: The Auctioneer may withdraw an item from consideration if he considers the
opening bid incompatible with the item’s value.
Sold to the highest bidder! Upon the Auctioneer’s call, title to an item or article will pass to the
highest bidder who then assumes all associated risks and responsibilities.
Vacation homes and condominiums and air travel:
Purchasers are bound by the precise restrictions specified by donors. Terms are not negotiable.
Please read specifications and limitations carefully. Dates and times are to be arranged between
donor and buyer unless noted otherwise. To avoid disappointment, please make all vacation
reservations well in advance.
Letters of authorization for vacation homes and condominiums will be given to the winning
bidders upon payment to the Auction cashier. The purchase of a vacation home or condo is not
transferable. If air travel is included in a package, please call to book seats as soon as possible
after the Auction for best availability. Donors are under no obligation to honor purchases after
the stated “use by” date.

Perform LIVE with the Nashville
Symphony Orchestra
This is your chance to perform one song live at the Schermerhorn
with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra at the May 22, 2014 “Side by
Side” concert — a once in a lifetime opportunity for anyone with a
passion to sing. The lucky recipient will choose a song (by the end
of February) and work with well-known arranger Jim Gray, who will
create an original orchestration to accompany your artist on the big
night. Amy Grant will consult on song selection and help throughout
the process, if desired. Rehearsal and performance will both take
place on Thursday, May 22, 2014. Proceeds from this sale will
benefit the Ensworth School and the Nashville Symphony.
