Program Registration Policy Advanced registration with full payment is required for programs. The YMCA is a member-driven organization. Members have priority registration over non-member registrations. WALK-IN and Online Portal Registration begins at 8:00am. You will receive priority registration by coming in person or logging into the Online Portal and registering. Registrations will be handled in the order they are received. All drop-offs, faxes, phones, and mail registrations (along with payment) will be recorded after noon, on the registration date based on the time and date of receipt. The Welcome Center will call to confirm your registration status after noon on day of registration. Refund Policy A full refund or credit will be issued to participants if the YMCA cancels a program. A program credit will be issued to the participants YMCA account if a participant withdraws from a program with approval from the respective YMCA Director. The program credit can be used for any programs here at Lakota Family YMCA and may be used by any family member. We do not guarantee refunds. Guest Pass Policy Lakota Family YMCA is a membership organization and our first priority is to serve our members who have made a commitment to the Lakota YMCA by joining. The purpose behind our guest policy is to enhance service to current members who are encouraging a friend to join; and to make reasonable accommodations for out-of-town family and visitors. Guests of Current Lakota YMCA Members Guests must be accompanied by a member at all times while in the facility. Guest names are recorded in our system and are restricted to 2 visits per month. Guests are required to pay the Guest Rate Fee. Child Watch is FREE to our Family and Household Plus members. Non-Member Spectators Membership Payment Options Monthly We accept MasterCard, Visa or Discover cards. Your card is automatically charged the 1st day of every month. Your membership is ongoing for a minimum of 12 months. Once the 12-month term has been met, a 15-day written notice is required to stop the automatic credit card draft. Annually We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover or check payments (no cash accepted). Your membership renews the following year until you cancel in writing 15 days prior to the 1st of the month. Must remain in the observation area during the program period and cannot use other parts of the facility. Once program is over, spectators must leave the facility. The YMCA does not encourage young children to observe adult games for no other reason than safety. If you bring a child under the age of 10 to an event, they must be under the supervision of a non-participating adult. Any spectator can be asked to leave if their behavior is disruptive and/or disrespectful. Our program challenges children in all developmental areas. Our daily routine is designed to develop social skills, stimulate learning with hands-on activities, encourage speech and language development, and challenge motor skills. Our curriculum is theme-based, designed to include prereading and pre-math activities. Children will be able to explore the centers while interacting with other children and teachers. Children have the opportunity to do individual and teacher-directed activities. Art, science, plus large and small motors skills are important parts of our program. Children participate in recreational swimming and are able to take swim lessons as part of their day for an additional fee. Registration Fee: $50 Member Fee: $135 Non-member Fee: $145 CHILD CARE PROGRAMS Child Care Director: [email protected] BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CHILD CARE The Lakota YMCA Before and After School Program is an active child care program for students at Adena, Cherokee, Creekside, Endeavor, Freedom, Heritage, Hopewell, Independence, Liberty, Shawnee, Union, Van Gorden, Woodland and Wyandot Elementary Schools. This is for grades K-6. The program takes place in the cafeteria and play areas in and around the school building. Supervised hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am until the beginning of school and after school until 6:00pm. This is a full-time service whether you use it or not. SPACE IS LIMITED. SCHOOL’S OUT CAMP The Lakota YMCA offers child care on most of the days that Lakota schools are closed. The camp is held at the Lakota YMCA. School’s Out Camp for the 2014-2015 school year is available in the Program Brochure. Lakota YMCA does not offer camp on inclement weather days when the Lakota School District is closed. School’s Out Camp runs from 7:00am-6:00pm at the Lakota YMCA on Yankee Road. Campers are offered a wide variety of age appropriate activities throughout their day. Activities include arts and crafts, science and nature, group games, board games, swimming, and an age-appropriate movie. The cost of the camps vary, check the child care web page for details. Join Bricks 4 Kidz as we host two winter building workshops. Bricks 4 Kids is an enrichment program that teaches children concepts in science, mechanics, and engineering using LEGO bricks. In each workshop, the kids will be introduced to new concepts and then build models using bricks, gears, axles, motors, and more to illustrate the concept. Each workshop includes a custom mini figure that the kids will create, use during the camp, and then take home! Each camp will be unique, with all new models and lessons each time. However, these games are modified to incorporate the basic golf shots – putt, chip, pitch and full swing. Healthy Kids Day is the YMCA’s initiative to improve the health and well being of kids. The Y is challenging families by addressing critical gaps in kids’ health and education. There will be a variety of activities for kids and families, as well as vendors that will promote healthy habits for kids. More details will be available after the first of the year on our website. AQUATICS PROGRAM Head Coach: [email protected] Lakota Family YMCA is able to offer a Year-Around swim team for the more competitive swimmers; as well as a traditional Recreational Summer swim team Program for our more summer only swimming participants. In the two years as Head Coach, Shaun Harlan and his assistant coaches have helped the team make huge strides. In 2013, we offered our first Year-Around Stingray program by competing in the Long Course Championships for the Southwest Ohio YMCA Swim League. In 2014, we continued our success with the Year Around program by improving our position by 3 spots and placing in the top 3 in 5 of our 8 meets last season. In the Summer Tri-County Stingrays Swim Program we finished 5th at the Tri-County Swim League Championships! LAKOTA STINGRAYS SUMMER SWIM TEAM Registration will begin sometime in April 2015. YEAR-AROUND SWIM TEAM Our Year-Around swim program is truly a family activity. For ages 6-18, we develop many qualities through competitive swimming such as physical conditioning, self -confidence, sportsmanship and character building with good ethical standards and academic achievements! We help the swimmers learn about responsibility, dedication and commitment. Our winter season runs September through early April ending with YMCA National Championship. If your desired class is full, we encourage you to find a different class time that fits your schedule. If a class does not fit your schedule, make sure to get onto a waiting list so we can try to open as many classes as possible. WHAT IF THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PARTICPANTS REGISTERED FOR A CLASS? Unfortunately, sometimes not enough participants register for a particular class and we are forced to cancel the class. We strictly follow class minimums, so be sure to sign up early. All individuals using our facility and programs are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the YMCA Core Values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Failure to do so may result in termination of membership privileges. NO eating permitted on the pool deck, gym, fitness center or locker rooms. NO running, skipping or speed walking through the halls. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult anywhere in the building. Children 16 and older may watch a sibling under the age of 10. Infants in baby seats and strollers are not to be left unattended in any area. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages or smoking allowed on YMCA property. NO excessive horseplay will be tolerated and may result in immediate dismissal from the premises. Family Locker Room—Moms with sons, dads with daughters, adults needing assistance with opposite sex caregivers. Please do not bring valuables to the YMCA. Anyone caught sneaking in a guest will have their membership revoked. Member is responsible for the behavior of their guests. Guest must register at the Welcome Center and sign the Guest Waiver for using the facility. Youth Guests (under 10) must have an adult (age 16 or older) remain at the YMCA with the youth guest at all times. A driver’s license or photo ID and birth certificate is required upon the first visit (appropriate guests fee will apply). Guests must adhere to all YMCA policies and usage guidelines. Guest must provide a valid photo identification (driver’s license or school ID). Guest access may be limited based on space restrictions. Subject to guest pass usage, restrictions may apply. Ohio Reciprocity, AWAY, SilverSneaker/Prime members are guests of the Y and cannot bring other guests. No flips, back dives, back jumps or twists from the side of the pool. Floats and rafts are permitted in the competition area of the pool; however, the directors, managers, and staff may ask you to remove these items if they deem them as a safety hazard. Starting blocks are for swim team and instructional purposes by a swim coach or instructor only. NO hanging or sitting on lane lines or safety ropes, swim under them. Swim suits must be worn while swimming. NO CUT-OFFS. Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by someone 14 years and over. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied in the water by someone 14 years and over. Parents must be in the water with any and all swimmers and non-swimmers. Infants/children who are not potty trained must wear a swim diaper and swim suit over their swim diaper. No one will be permitted to swim in a swim diaper alone. SWIM DIAPERS MUST BE COVERED BY A SWIM SUIT. No hard footballs, baseballs, basketballs or tennis balls in the pool. Basketball: No hanging on rim or grabbing on the net. Basketball: No dunking, hitting or horseplay at any time. Basketball: Ball MUST stay in the water at all times. Basketball: No dribbling or playing with the ball on pool deck. Return ball to lifeguard when finished playing. Fitness Center Individuals must be 16 years or older to use the Fitness Center and free-weight area. Children 13 to 15 may use the cardio equipment area with an on-file medical clearance form. Their parent/guardian must also accompany them in the fitness center. YMCA full facility/full privilege members must use their home branch at least 50% of the time. Program discounts do not apply. Participating YMCAs reserve the right to restrict facility and/or program access. Other restrictions may apply. The Y movement is for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We want to encourage members to utilize the Y as often as they can. Sometimes, it’s more convenient for members to utilize a Y in a different location when traveling, near a workplace or in another region. Now, full facility/full privilege YMCA members have the flexibility to use other Y facilities throughout Ohio, at no extra charge. LAKOTA YMCA RESTRICTIONS HOW IT WORKS On your first visit to the Lakota Family YMCA, come to the Welcome Center with your membership card and photo ID to complete a visiting member waiver form. Visiting youth members (under age 10) must be accompanied by an adult member (age 16 or older). Visiting members are welcome to use our facility; however, they may not bring non-member guests. Child Watch is limited to 2 hours per day and we require members to stay on the premises. Those using our swimming pools with children ages 0-5 will need to be in the water with them within arm’s length at all times. Children ages 6-12 will receive a color-coded wrist band and must stay in shallow-water areas unless they are 45 inches tall and pass the deep-water swim test.
