The sale of an A$1.05 million filly by champion sire
Fastnet Rock (Aus) to the China Horse Club late in the
session highlighted another strong day of trade during
the third session of the Magic Millions Gold Coast
Yearling Sale yesterday.
Key figures continued to climb on those posted
12 months ago. Over three days 451 yearlings have
changed hands for A$75,102,500 (US$60,695,959),
up from A$63,447,500 for 455 sold at this time last
year. The average climbed 19.4% to A$166,524
(US$134,580), while the median rose 12.5% to
A$135,000 (US$109,104). The buyback rate sits at
16.9% compared to 12% last year. Cont. p14

LEA RETURNS TO DEFEND HAL’S HOPE TITLE
Adele Dilschneider and Claiborne Farm=s Lea (First
Samurai) resurfaces for the first time since a track
record-breaking win in last February=s GI Donn H. in
today=s GIII Hal=s Hope S. at Gulfstream. A Grade III
winner on the turf in 2012 for Al Stall, Jr. and twice
Grade II-placed the following season, the homebred
was transferred to Bill Mott for a
2014 campaign and kicked
things off promisingly with a
3 1/4-length success in this race.
The chestnut developed a fever
in April, however, and failed to
resurface for the rest of the
season after his auspicious Donn
performance. AIt kind of lingered
a little longer than we had

give him extra time and sort of start all over. We could
have run him late last fall in New York and we just

race. Obviously, it=ll be a competitive spot I=m sure.

AThis particular horse is a big, strong horse and he loves
to train. Every day he=s getting stronger and stronger. I
think he was late to develop and he=s finally come into
himself. I just see good things for Valid on the horizon
if he stays healthy.@ Robsham Stables homebred Golden
Lad (Medaglia d=Oro) capped a four-race win streak with
a 6 3/4-length romp in Oaklawn=s GIII Razorback H.
Mar. 15, but was fifth in a roughly run renewal of the
GII Oaklawn H. Apr. 12 and eighth in the GIII Pimlico
Special S. May 16. AHe just kind of flattened out in the
Pimlico Special and seemed a little jammed up coming
out of it, so we decided to stop on him and give him a
little break,@ explained trainer Todd Pletcher. AHe seems
to have come back really well. He=s proven on his day
he=s capable of running big races and we like the way
he=s training, so it looks like a good place to get his
season started.@

consignment is Elusive Jackpot (Elusive Quality), a
daughter of the great Silverbulletday (Silver Deputy),
making her a half to the dams of Grade I winner Shakin
It Up (Midnight Lute) and Grade III winner Govenor
Charlie (Midnight Lute). Elusive Jackpot, catalogued as
hip 267, sells in foal to Hill >n= Dale resident Midnight
Lute. She is owned by Mike Pegram, who campaigned
both Silverbulletday and Midnight Lute.
"Silverbulletday hasn't produced any offspring close
to her racing ability, but her daughters look like
important producers,@ Sikura said.
AShe's had several fillies--Mike has all of
them--and it's an opportunity to offer
one for sale and it's a great opportunity
for someone to buy a daughter of one
of the great racemares. Plus, the whole
family's active and producing--there's a
lot happening."
Of his overall market expectations,
Sikura added, AIt's a question that has
John Sikura
to be asked, but I think the answer's
always the same. There's lots of money
there for quality, but if you have to explain two blank
years or a June cover or why you're in foal to a very
quiet horse or if the mare is 16 or 17 instead of 10 or
11, then it's very tough sledding for many segments of

FOCUSING ON EXPERIENCE, KEENELAND

Let=s be honest. The announcement that Keeneland
would host the 2015 Breeders= Cup World
Championships was met with skepticism in some
quarters. The issue wasn=t the track itself. Keeneland,
after all, is widely regarded as one of the best, prettiest
tracks in the country. But one of its greatest attributes
was, in this case, a perceived hindrance: its size. The
largest crowd in its history came in 2012, when
40,617 packed in to see the GI Toyota Blue Grass.
That=s almost half the Breeders= Cup single-day
attendance record of 80,452, set at nearby Churchill
Downs in 1998. What=s more, most would agree that
days like that at Keeneland--with patrons
shoulder-to-shoulder--can be uncomfortable for those
not in love with their neighbors= elbows. Cont. p11

This was a popular topic of conversation at the sales
this year, the AWill theyY?@ ACan theyY?@ etc. Tellingly,
however, these conversations more often than not
concluded with one participant shrugging his or her
shoulders and offering something along the lines of, AI
dunno, but if anyone can do it, Keeneland can.@
A more accurate statement, perhaps, is AKeeneland is
doing it.@
Keeneland management and personnel are already in
high gear in anticipation of the 2015 Breeders= Cup, to
be held on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31, and over
the coming months, the TDN will regularly spotlight the
behind-the-scenes work being done. This month, we=re
starting with the basics: crowd size.

To that end, Keeneland is limiting on-track attendance
to approximately 45,000, with 28,000 guests within
the Keeneland grandstand, 7,500 in trackside and
paddock luxury chalets, and about 7,500
accommodated in such venues as The Keene Barn, The
Hill and the Meadow. That will ensure a sellout crowd,
the smallest in Breeders= Cup history for a Saturday,
and mean there will be no walk-up sales on the day of
the Breeders= Cup. But it should also ensure those on
hand have plenty of room to move around and enjoy
themselves.

ARegardless of where the seat is, it will be much
easier to access food, wagering and restroom facilities
than people experience on a busy Saturday,@ said
Gabbert.
As mentioned, Keeneland isn=t just relieving pressure
by limiting admission at existing facilities. It also is
adding myriad
seating and
entertainment
options, so that
the immediate
track area will
boast several
distinct
destinations for
fans to gather.

Keeneland has
about 8,000 seats
combined in its grandstand, luxury boxes and dining
rooms. Augmenting these facilities will be two rows of
elevated, temporary boxes off the front of the current
grandstand, as well as a number of multi-story chalets
in the clubhouse parking lot, the Louisville lot, and
adjacent to the paddock. There will also be expanded
seating capacity in grandstand areas that are not
usually ticketed areas, such as the Mezzanine Bar. In
addition, the Breeders= Cup will offer 10,000 general

As for pricing, Gabbert said the reduced number of
tickets won=t mean exorbitant prices. AIt will be
different than a normal Keeneland pricing, but all of our
pricing will be at or below what other venues charge
now for Breeders= Cup,@ he said. AFor instance, a box
seat here will be less than a box seat at Santa Anita
last year. We wanted to be in line with the market and
give everyone an opportunity to experience this.@
Fans at Keeneland this fall may have already noticed
some of the temporary infrastructure going into place,
including the trackside chalets located in upper stretch.
The Breeders= Cup chalets have their own food and
wagering services inside of glassed-in,
climate-controlled venues. Tiered balconies on the
second floor provide views of the races, and each
chalet includes rail access, so that fans inside can freely
venture out to cheer home their horse.
AThe chalets will create a little village among
themselves,@ said Gabbert. AThey=ll be very high-end in
terms of how we finish them out, and even getting to
and from them will be part of the experience.@
Farther up, located diagonally from the quarter pole,
will be the Bourbon Lounge, a massive trackside tent
that will hold approximately 3,000 people. AThis will be
a high-demand ticket,@ said Gabbert. ATickets will be
reasonable, there will be a phenomenal food and
beverage experience, and fans will have the ability to
come out and watch the races on the rail. The
atmosphere will be fantastic.@
Those looking for a much more exclusive experience
can aim for the Saddling Paddock Luxury Chalet, which
will sit opposite the grandstand on the far side of the
paddock and allow patrons an up-close-and-personal
view of Breeders= Cup participants, both human and
equine. Guests here will be treated to gourmet meals,
and will also have trackside access to watch races.
If Keeneland is getting inventive to increase viewing
areas around the immediate track area, it is taking
advantage of one thing most other racecourses lack: a
sprawling campus with attractive open areas.
Keeneland sits on 1,100 acres of rolling Kentucky hills.
Red maples and cherry trees dot the property, and in
the fall, the changing colors add to the pastoral setting.
Keeneland hopes to host an additional 7,500 on various
parts of its campus on each
of the Breeders= Cup days,
including on The Hill, a
broad lot located above the
track designated for
tailgaters. The Hill currently
is open on Fridays and
Saturdays during meets and
features food trucks, live
music, and a jumbo
television screen, among
other amenities.

and tailgate, and we
anticipate it will be very
popular over Breeders= Cup
weekend,@ said Gabbert.
Keeneland will also sell
tickets for seating at the
Keeneland Entertainment
Center, giving fans other
dining and viewing options,
while the Thoroughbred
Club, situated just off the
Keeneland grounds, will
offer both lounge and dining
options.
To be sure, Breeders= Cup
tickets will be in high demand. But Gabbert said there
will be the opportunity for the average race fan to buy
a ticket when they officially go on sale Mar. 1.
ALike a Super Bowl or a World Series, not everyone
will have a ticket who wants one,@ admitted Gabbert.
AAnd, as with every Breeders= Cup, the Breeders= Cup
will work through a priority list over the winter,
between nominators and horsemen and participants. On
Mar. 1, over half the tickets will be available to the
public.@
Keeneland=s plans to develop the fan experience for
the 2015 Breeders= Cup will be the topic of future
features in the TDN, including how the track and the
city of Lexington are working together to host the
World Championships.

Bidding on the phone just outside the pavilion exit to
the left of the auctioneer=s stand, Wallace had to fend
off fierce competition from Spendthrift Farm--as well as
some phone difficulties--to secure the gem.
AIt cut out at about A$750,000 and I was trying to
push redial and we went a little bit further and then I
got him back on the phone so it all ended well,@ said
Wallace. He added, AShe is a filly we have all been
waiting for, a champion sire and Group 1-winning mare
and she was a real runner. She has a good depth of
pedigree and is a lovely type. Fastnet fillies are doing
really well.@
Wallace continued, AShe has been bought for China
Horse Club, so it carries on their worldwide investment
in bloodstock, and Australia is an important part of the
long term strategic plans and a key element of that.
She was bought for Australia and she will stay in
Australia.@
Wallace noted the Club has about 20 horses in
training in Australia, and that haul includes this
season=s G1 Flight S. winner First Seal (Aus) (Fastnet
Rock {Aus}).
It was Wallace=s second session topper this week; he
also purchased Wednesday=s A$850,000 Sepoy filly on
behalf of the China Horse Club, which now owns the
top two lots of the sale.
The early-September foal was bred by SF Bloodstock
and born at Henry Field=s Newgate Farm in the Hunter
Valley, which also consigned her. Newgate=s Director of
Sales Bruce Slade likened the filly to royalty.
AShe=s an absolute queen,@ he said. AShe=s a terrific
first foal, beautifully put together, a wonderful mover
and she has a great attitude--she=s a typical Fastnet
filly.@
SF Bloodstock purchased Response carrying this filly
for A$840,000 at the 2012 Inglis Easter Broodmare
Sale. She was a A$50,000 yearling at the Inglis Easter
yearling sale in 2008.
AThe mare=s been bred up,@ Slade noted. AShe=s in foal
to Snitzel and has an Exceed and Excel colt at foot, so
she=s been looked after. She was hot property today.@
Slade said the Newgate team expected their charge
to be amongst the sale toppers.
AWe knew she=d be right up there,@ he said. AIt=s one
of those things where you just need a couple of the
right people on her, and obviously a lot of people saw
real value in her and her long-term prospects. We
certainly knew she=d be at the top end of the sale, and
it=s terrific to get that kind of money. I=m sure she=ll go
on to be a really nice racehorse based on her physicality
and her disposition, and hopefully $1.05 million looks
pretty cheap in a couple year=s time.@

sessions have included a A$450,000 Redoute's Choice
colt sold to Gary Mudgway; a A$300,000 colt by its
resident first-season sire Foxwedge (Aus) hammered down

high, but this one took my fancy. The guy I want to
give her to to train, Peter Snowden, loved her, so we
went for it. I=ll race her with my kids and my husband,
so we=ll have a lot of fun then we=ll breed from her.@

A Sepoy Speedster For McEvoy...
The popularity of Darley=s first-season sire Sepoy has
been one of the recurring themes of this sale. The
2- and 3-year-old champion=s hot streak failed to wane
yesterday, and was highlighted by the sale of an
A$575,000 colt to trainer Tony McEvoy. Catalogued as
lot 452 from the draft of John Singleton=s Strawberry
Hill Stud, the bay is out of the listed-winning and
group-placed Miss Mooney Mooney (Aus) (Redoute=s
Choice {Aus}), a half-sister to Group 3 winner
Publishing (Aus) (Testa Rossa {Aus}) and to the dam of
multiple stakes winner Better Than Ready (Aus) (More
Than Ready).
AI=m glad that=s over,@ McEvoy quipped after signing
the ticket. McEvoy said he was buying the colt
specifically with next year=s Magic Millions 2YO Classic
in mind, which will be worth A$2.5 million as part of a
significant prize money boosted unveiled late last
month that will make the card worth A$10 million.
AHe=s a really exciting horse,@ the conditioner said. AI
want a runner in the race next year. There are a few
[Sepoy=s] on the grounds that look like they=ll make it
into the race, and I loved this horse=s temperament, his
rhythm and his athleticism. The stud farm said he=s
never turned a hair in anything they=ve ever done to
him. He has a cracking eye and a willingness that I
loved about him. It=s all there, I just hope I don=t stuff it

onto his foals.
AThe great thing great horses have is temperament,@
he commented. ASepoy was unfazable in all the races I
saw him in. He just arrived, accepted, did the job and

what [the Sepoy=s] have, all the ones I=ve seen. There=s
been a half-dozen Sepoys I probably could have bought,
but I settled on this fella. I think the stallion has a real
chance and I can=t remember a dominant [G1 Golden]
Slipper winner that=s failed [at stud].@
McEvoy revealed the colt would race for a group of
clients.
AI=ve got together a syndicate of guys. I don=t think
they were quite expecting to spend that much, but I=ve
got my business partner Wayne Mitchell ringing them

as a racehorse owner in Australia, having campaigned
the four-time Group 1-winning filly Mosheen (Aus)

A pair of consecutive lots through the ring caused a
stir early in the afternoon when each brought
A$460,000. The first to go under the hammer was lot
483, a colt from the last crop of Australia=s ill-fated
2012/13 champion first-season sire Northern Meteor
(Aus). The half-brother to G3 Blue Diamond Prelude
victor General Rippa (Aus) (General Nediym {Aus}) was
secured by agent James Harron on behalf of Peter and

vision for three codes (Thoroughbred, harness and
greyhounds) for Pay TV and 2800 betting outlets and
hotels and clubs. In the 2013-14 financial year Tabcorp
returned $714 million to the racing industry and it feeds
$250 million per year into the coffers of the respective
state governments of Victoria and NSW.
AUSTRALIA'S RACING MEDIA IN A RIGHT MESS
Anyone who has studied Australian history shouldn't
be surprised that the premier states of New South
Wales (NSW) and Victoria are at loggerheads over the
future of the media rights to Australia's racing vision.
For nearly 200 years, NSW and Victoria-particularly
their respective capital cities, Sydney and
Melbourne-have been bickering. This is the Hatfields
and McCoys without the buckshot.
Perhaps the best example of the obstinate attitude of
the states is the fact that until relatively recently, you
couldn't catch a train from Melbourne to Sydney
without changing locomotives at the border because
the boffins in charge, in their wisdom, set down
different rail gauges.
Even in horse racing terms the difference is profound.
In NSW, all its more than 100 racetracks are set for
clockwise racing, while 70 Victoria's racetracks "go the
correct way", left-handed. Life can be a muddle for
people living in twin cities, split by the Murray River,
each side of the border.
All of which sets the scene for what seemed to be
the inevitable when the Racing NSW broke away from
heavy negotiations over the value of the rights to racing
vision and set itself on a course to do its own thing. In
doing so, Racing NSW virtually has set the industry's
media unit, ThoroughVisioN (TVN), on a course of
destruction.
In simple terms, Racing NSW want to support its
close ally Tabcorp (Australia's major wagering agency),
which controls Sky Racing, whereas Victoria wants a
broader media platform.
To go further in this complex issue, the cast needs
some profile. Here are the players:
TVN (ThoroughVisioN): developed in 2005 by a
partnership between Victoria's three metropolitan and
66 country clubs (Country Racing Victoria) and the
Sydney two metropolitan clubs (since merged). The
idea was to put Thoroughbred racing's media,
especially the vision, under one banner as a bargaining
force. Started showing vision on pay TV from 2005,
separate from established Sky Racing. Eventually an
agreement was reached with Sky in May 2006 for the
Victorian and Sydney vision to return to Sky as well as
being shown on TVN. TVN owns extensive outside
broadcasting equipment as well as the printed weekly
publications Best Bets and Winning Post.
Tabcorp: Australia's pari-mutuel wagering arm and
major financier of Australian racing. Took control of Sky
Channel (now Sky Racing), which produced racing
Sky Racing: formerly Sky Channel. Wholly owned by
Tabcorp from 2004. Provides vision of 90,000 races
across all codes and feeds into Tabcorp's off-course
betting outlets as well as on pay TV on three channels.
Racing NSW: gained a place on the TVN board when
the NSW Government gave it the right of veto over
decisions made by NSW's race clubs. Has a wagering
agreement with Tabcorp.
Racing Victoria: has a stronger funding model behind it
than Racing NSW. Its aim is to develop an in-house
media arm that controls vision, data and general racing
coverage. Has a softer policy on bookmakers than
Racing NSW and a shorter and less binding agreement
with Tabcorp. RV doesn't have a place on the TVN
board, has influence as the umbrella body over its clubs
on the board.
Sky Racing has been clever in the past by splitting
the rights between all Australia's states and setting the
agreements to expire at different times, which didn't
allow Australian racing's jurisdictions to bargain as one
powerful voice.
The result was an almost farcical situation in which
racing was covered on pay TV by four channels-TVN
(which boasted a premier product showing pre-race
parades and pre- and post-race interviews of Victorian
and Sydney thoroughbred racing) and Sky's channels
sharing the coverage of all codes from all states and
overseas.
The crux of the current dispute stems from the fact
that two years ago, the NSW Government legislated
that Racing NSW has the right of veto over decisions
made by the ATC and the NSW country clubs. This
gave Racing NSW a place on the TVN board and
stymied attempts by the board to get Tabcorp to fork
out $40 million (a 25 per cent increase) for the rights to
the vision.
The fact that Racing NSW has signed a quite
incredible 100-year agreement with Tabcorp (there is
still 80 years to run) puts it firmly on the side of the
betting agency and against competition, especially
corporate betting agencies that have grown
significantly in the past 10 years to almost match the
$11 billion annual turnover of Tabcorp.
Racing Victoria (RV) has no such agreement and has
embraced corporate bookmakers as part of its funding
model, especially in the area of sponsorship. There is no
corporate bookmaker-based sponsorship of races or
race clubs in NSW.
RV is adamant that thoroughbred racing needs to
spread its base to combat the increasing world-wide
threat of sports betting which is sapping the growth
out of wagering on Thoroughbred racing. Cont. p20

This was a battle in which neither side was going to
take a backward step. Supporters of the NSW decision
agree it is best not the cook the "golden goose"-Tabcorp--which has been racing's cash-cow since the
1960s, although racing is no longer is main source if
income after branching in sports betting and casinos.
Critics say that this is a goose that sits on its same
nest in the same pond and has no vision for the future,
and that the Victorian model, while not deserting
Tabcorp, will put it under pressure to innovate and at
the same time reach a wide market.
Racing NSW will negotiate its own agreement on
vision with Tabcorp, while Victoria is now in a position
to do likewise. However, RV and its race clubs are
seriously looking at the prospect of funding
TVN-reported to be about $20 million a year-to
continue a premier Victorian product on Pay TV and at
the same time to give it leverage for a better deal from
Tabcorp for the vision to be shown on Sky.
Racing NSW's chairman John Messara and chief
executive Peter V'Landys have stayed silent throughout
the dispute.
On the other hand, Racing Victoria's chairman Rob
Roulston and chief executive Bernard Saundry have
been hitting the airwaves and pumping out the press
releases-both men scathing at the breakaway of Racing
NSW and the resultant disaggregation of TVN.
It was a Boxing Day gift that RV and the Victorian
clubs were expecting, but didn't want to open. Saundry
was quickly on the front foot in the media.
"It is a great disappointment to RV that due to the
increasing misalignment between how Victoria wants to
grow our sport and the differing views of Racing NSW,
that there is no other option but to accept the proposal
to disaggregate our state's rights from TVN," he said.
"The long-term goal is to get vision to as many
punters as possible by utilizing multiple broadcasting
options. Our priority will be working with media
partners who will help us grow engagement in, and the
audience for, our sport; to maximize returns for
reinvestment back into our sport; and to fairly reward
all of our participants."
The wash-up? Anyone's guess.
TVN will survive only if Victoria settles some of its
debts (reported to be $20 million, but believed to be a
lot less) and supports it--Victoria is working hard at
crunching the numbers. However, the general opinion is
that the cost of running its own TV channel may be too
high and TVN's assets will be sold up.
Racing coverage of all states will return to Sky
Racing--individual agreements will be made-and it is
likely Sky will include in its package a designated
Thoroughbred channel offering a premium product
similar to what was offered on TVN.
Victoria is in the enviable bargaining position of
having the best racing product. Its overall racing scene
is strong and popular with punters from all states who
appreciate big fields and a strong and varied strength of
participants.
And its Spring Racing (Melbourne Cup) Carnival is the
envy of many racing fans around the world--particularly
those across the border.

Melbourne Cup (writer). He is a contributing editor and
writer for Inside Racing magazine, and editor of Inside
Breeding.

ATLANTIC CITY RACE COURSE TO CLOSE
Atlantic City Race Course will close permanently on
Jan. 16, track operator Greenwood ACRA, which also
owns and operates Parx Racing and Casino in
Pennsylvania, announced Friday. The New Jersey oval
had been awarded six 2015 race dates in April. AWe
regret to announce that we must close Atlantic City
Race Course immediately due to continuous business
decline in the industry, the current regional economic
climate and the absence of alternative revenue
opportunities,@ said Greenwood ACRA President Joe
Wilson. AMost importantly, we would like to thank our
dedicated employees and the supporters of Atlantic
City Race Course who have contributed to its proud
legacy in the racing industry over the years." The race

GAMING LOCATION BOARD WILL CONSIDER
CUOMO=S PROPOSAL by Mike Kane
New York=s Gaming Facility Location Board said
Friday that it would consider Gov. Andrew Cuomo=s
proposal that it issue a new Request for Application for
a casino license in the state=s Southern Tier, a region
along the border with Pennsylvania.
The board is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Jan. 13, in
New York City.
The location board of the New York State Gaming
Commission announced Dec. 17 that it recommended
that three licenses be granted. By statute, it could have
selected a maximum of four proposals for destination
casinos that were promoted as vehicles to stimulate the
upstate economy. Cuomo wrote to the commission
Dec. 26 asking that it start a new process that could
result in a license for the Southern Tier, which has high
unemployment figures and is in need of economic
development.
The Southern Tier, which includes the city of
Binghamton and surrounding suburban towns, was part
of an odd L-shaped region that stretched north to the
shore of Lake Ontario. From that Southern Tier/Finger
Lakes region, the location board selected the
northern-most proposal, Lago, in Tyre, Seneca County.
Kevin S. Law, chairman of the location board, said it
would not open up the Catskills/Hudson Valley or
Capital regions to additional applications.

race Friday--one fatal--and NYRA=s decision to cancel
the rest of the card due to blowing snow, New York
Thoroughbred Horsemen=s Association President Rick
Violette, Jr. released the following statement:

the significant increase in equine fatalities at Aqueduct
this winter. [Saturday] morning, a group of trainers,
including myself and NYTHA Board members Linda Rice
and Rick Schosberg, will meet with a NYRA
management team including Senior Vice President of
Racing Operations Martin Panza, Vice President of
Facilities and Racing Surfaces Glen Kozak and Chief
Examing Veterinarian Dr. Anthony Verderosa. There
may not be one right answer, but we will use every
avenue possible and examine every angle to address
this situation. Everything will be on the table, from
finding an independent track surface expert to come in
and examine the inner track to a thorough
reexamination of every procedure and protocol in place
before a horse leaves the starting gate.@

OwnerView is a joint effort spearheaded by The
Jockey Club and the Thoroughbred Owners and
Breeders Association to encourage ownership of
Thoroughbreds and provide accurate information on
trainers, public racing syndicates, the process of
purchasing and owning a Thoroughbred, racehorse
retirement, and owner licensing.
The need for a central resource to encourage
Thoroughbred ownership was identified in the
comprehensive economic study of the sport that was
commissioned by The Jockey Club and conducted by
McKinsey & Company in 2011. The OwnerView site
was launched in May 2012.

partnership for Roy Lerman=s Lambholm South to be the

Bill Filed to Allow EquiLottery in KY:
A proposed bill was filed in Kentucky Thursday that
would legalize the horse racing-related lottery game
EquiLottery, reports the Louisville Courier-Journal. Sen.
Julie Raque Adams, R-Louisville filed Senate Bill 74,
which would create a new designation of lottery game
called a Ashared lottery game,@ which would allow for a
game to be Aconducted by the lottery corporation in
collaboration with an association licensed to conduct
horse racing, in which a portion of the money received@
would be Aused to purchase pari-mutuel tickets.A
