Retirement and Assisted Living Communities provide independent living situations with varying levels of assistance. Some facilities
offer special dementia units for memory-impaired residents. Services typically included in the rent are meals, weekly housekeeping and
linen services, utilities, and scheduled transportation.
Assisted living services generally offer assistance with personal care; supervision with medications, additional housekeeping and
laundry services, and require an additional fee. Safety features may include 24-hour security, secured buildings, and pull cords in the
unit.
