Letter from the Administrator
Happy New Year!
With a new year comes new beginnings. For many
of us, it is a time to reflect and set new goals for
ourselves, both personally and professionally. Our
goal at Sunset Lake has been and will continue to
be our commitment to providing the best possible
care and rehabilitation services. We are here to
serve you and our goal is to be the best.
In order to accomplish our goals, we will rely heavily on your feedback.
There are several ways in which Administration can gauge how well we
are meeting our goals. Every member at Sunset Lake will receive a
Customer Satisfaction Survey at some point in their stay. We ask that
you take a minute to complete this survey with your honest feedback.
You may request a survey from the Concierge who would be happy to
assist you.
We strive daily to earn your highest marks on these surveys. If you feel
that we did not meet your highest expectations, please leave a comment
on the surveyor reach out directly to the Executive Director. Similarly,
when you receive exceptional care and service from our team members,
we encourage you to call the Care Line at 1-877-CARE-301. This will be a
direct connection with a representative from the Greystone Corporation.
Our staff will be recognized within the company for each call that is
placed.
We appreciate your support!!
About Cardiac Rehab
Laundry Services
By Barbara Hong
All Resident clothing must be
identified with the Resident
name in a permanent fashion.
Laundry services are available
here at Sunset Lake Health &
Rehab Center free of charge.
Should family choose to launder
resident personal clothing,
retrieve laundry at least every
other day. Resident name still
needs to be placed on their
clothing. Nursing staff will place
clothing in the bag provided and
store it in the armoire for families
choosing this option. Soiled
clothing not removed in a timely
manner will be laundered by
Center staff. Retrieve missing
items with in 1 week, otherwise
they will be placed on the “no
name” rack. You may direct
questions regarding laundry
services to Barbara Hong,
Director of Environment Services.
- Thank you!
Cardiac rehabilitation is a professionally supervised
program to help people recover from heart attacks,
heart surgery and percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) procedures such as stenting and angioplasty. Cardiac rehab
programs usually provide education and counseling services to help
heart patients increase physical fitness, reduce cardiac symptoms, improve health and reduce the risk of future heart problems, including
heart attack.
A typical Cardiac program often includes:

Medical Evaluation

Assessment of your heart rate and blood pressure during physical
excursion. You may work with a physical therapist, exercise physiologist or other healthcare professional. You learn how to check
your heart rate and your level of activity. Later, you work up to
more intense aerobic activity on a treadmill or exercise bike.
Counseling and education to help you understand your condition and
how to manage it.
Your rehabilitation plan is designed to meet your needs. You may
need six weeks, six months or longer to learn how to manage your
condition and develop healthier habits. Many programs last only three
months, but some continue for years.
Regular physical activity helps your heart and the rest of your body get
stronger and work better. Physical activity improves your energy level
and lifts your spirits. It also reduces your chances of future heart problems, including heart attack.

What is Cellulitis
by Elizabeth Borer, RN.
Cellulitis is a common, potentially serious bacterial skin infection. Cellulitis appears as
a swollen, red area of skin that feels hot and tender, and it may spread rapidly.
Skin on lower legs is most commonly affected, though cellulitis can occur anywhere on
your body or face. Cellulitis may affect only your skin’s surface, or cellulitis may also affect tissues
underlying your skin and can spread to your lymph nodes and bloodstream.
Left untreated, the spreading infection may rapidly turn life-threatening. That’s why it’s important to
seek immediate medical attention if cellulitis symptoms occur.
The changes in your skin may be accompanied by fever. Over time, the area of redness tends to
expand. Small red spots may appear on top of the reddened skin, and less commonly, small blisters may
form and burst.
Possible signs and symptoms of cellulitis: Redness, Swelling, Tenderness, Pain, Warmth, and Fever. It’s
important to identify and treat cellulitis early because the condition can cause a serious infection by
spreading rapidly throughout your body. Seek emergency care if: You have a red, swollen, tender rash or
a rash that’s changing rapidly, and a fever. See your doctor, preferably that day, if: You have a rash that’s
red, swollen, tender and warm—and it’s expanding—but without fever.
Cellulitis occurs when one or more types of bacteria enter through a crack or break in your skin. The
two most common types of bacteria that are causes of cellulitis are streptococcus and staphylococcus.
The incidence of a more serious staphylococcus infection called methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus
aureus (MRSA) is increasing.
Although cellulitis can occur anywhere on your body, the most common location is the lower leg.
Bacteria is most likely to enter disrupted areas of skin, such as where you’ve had recent surgery, cuts,
puncture wounds, an ulcer, athlete’s foot or dermatitis.
Certain types of insect or spider bites also can transmit the bacteria that start the infection. Areas of
dry, flaky skin also can be an entry point for bacteria, as can swollen skin.
What you can do before the doctor’s appointment: You may need a prescription antibiotic to clear
your infection. However, until you see your doctor, you can wash the injured area with soap and water
and then apply an over-the –counter cream or ointment.
The appearance of your skin will help your doctor make a diagnosis. Your doctor may also suggest blood tests, a wound
culture or other tests to help rule out a blood clot deep in the veins of your legs. Cellulitis in lower leg is characterized by signs
and symptoms that may be similar to those of a clot occurring deep in the veins, such as warmth, pain and swelling. For more

‘Tis the Season
Tori Couch
The Holiday’s are a special time of year, when we are reminded to give thanks and recognize the
importance of friends, family, and celebrating life. Across the Greystone Health Network, our
communities celebrated the holiday’s with festive fervor, getting into the spirit with ugly sweater
contests, BELIEVE trees, and more!
The Club Health & Rehabilitation Center was part of The Villages
annual holiday parade this year, representing Greystone with a
“Grandma got run over by a reindeer” theme, as well as holding an
ugly sweater content for their associates. The winners of their sweater
contest, and their float, are pictured below. The rest of our
communities got in the spirit as well, with the BELIEVE tree at Viera
Health & Rehab and some holiday decorations at Unity Health &
Rehab (bottom right and top right, respectively).
We want to recognize our customers, in the spirit of the holiday
season, and all the joy, laughter, and excitement they bring to our
lives. Our associates as well are an essential part of our team, and
we’re thrilled to work with such capable and qualified individuals
across our network. As January marks the New Year, we’re looking
ahead to reaching even new heights in 2015!
