A CHRISTMAS CAROL BY CHARLES DICKENS, ADAPTED BY NICKY FORD
THURSDAY 15TH, FRIDAY 16TH, SATURDAY 17TH JANUARY 2015
This well-known and much loved show is coming to Compton Village Hall very soon! You may have heard the story
on the radio or seen it on the television over Christmas but now is your chance to see it live on our own Compton stage,
performed by many of your favourite CLT actors, along with some welcome newcomers. It is a homegrown production,
having originally been adapted by Nicky Ford and first performed by CLT in 1992. Emma Harding will direct this year’s
show, supported by Catherine Clark, with a little touch of Alison Hough’s magic on some of the ensemble numbers! There
is still time to get your tickets so don’t delay. Performances are at 8pm each evening, and also at 3pm on the Saturday.
If you have a good-quality Christmas present, or two, which you can’t use, they would be most welcome for the raffle.
Contact Jo Ayshford who will be happy to arrange collection.
Tickets are £10 for all seats for the evenings and £8 for the Saturday matinee, available as follows: On line from
www.ticketsource.co.uk/clt; From the Box Office on 07964 515103; By post from CLT Box Office, 49 The Oval,
Godalming GU7 3JZ. Please send your requirements, cheque payable to “Compton Little Theatre” and a stamped selfaddressed envelope. The Harrow is once again offering Theatre Suppers at 6.30pm, either before the evening
performances or after the matinée on the Saturday. Choose from the main menu. Booking is essential on 810594.
If booking for the Saturday, please indicate whether it’s for after the matinée or before the evening.
NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION – DRIVE COMPO!
For the new year, why not drive Compo, the village minibus? Duties are not onerous.
They involve mainly a monthly trip to Godalming and occasional other drives for
private hirers. Enjoy the experience of a six-wheeler turbo-charged diesel engine
minibus! A standard driving licence is all that is required and full training is given.
Contact Jon Maslin on 01483 429461, [email protected] or Peter Barnett on

BURNS NIGHT SUPPER – IN AID OF THE POPPY APPEAL
Saturday 24th January, 7.30pm, Compton Club
Come along and enjoy a traditional haggis with neeps and tatties and share a wee dram. Join in the lively
Scottish dancing, led by Compton’s own Highland Lassie Rhona Wilkie. Tickets are £25, which includes a
three-course meal. They are available from Jo Ayshford on 07791 209408, [email protected].
CHRISTMAS CARDS AND POSTAGE STAMPS FOR GOOD CAUSES
There are lots of ways of recycling used CHRISTMAS CARDS, one of which is by giving them to the Woodland
Trust through one of their recycling bins in High Street shops and supermarkets. Closer to home, however, Caroline
Yarnold in Puttenham collects them to be used again. She prepares them for sticking on to specially produced blank
cards, which are then sold to raise funds for the English Church in Hamburg. If you would like to donate your cards
for this cause, contact Jane Turner who will collect them.
At the same time, if you’ve kept your used POSTAGE STAMPS from all that Christmas mail, please let Jane have
them for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
COMPTON CLUB ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Members are reminded of the AGM to be held in the Club Function Room on Friday 9th January at 7.30pm and are
urged to attend. It is very important that you know how your Club is progressing and your help and support are
crucial for its future. If you have not yet renewed your membership, please do so as soon as possible. New members
are welcome so if you are new to the village, contact the Club on [email protected] for details. If you have
some time to spare, perhaps you would consider joining the Committee.
