MEDIA INFORMATION
INTERVIEW GUIDELINES
Oakland’s practices are closed to the public and the
media, but players and coaches are available on a
daily basis after practice, either on the main floor or
in the athletic department offices. All media wishing
to attend practice, conduct interviews and shoot
B-roll, must contact Scott MacDonald in the Athletic
Communications office prior to scheduled practices.
Media are asked not to contact players directly
either by phone, facebook, twitter and e-mail. Every
effort will be made to make players available when
necessary. Players are off-limits on gamedays until
after the contest.
CREDENTIALS
Press credentials are issued to accredited members
of the working media only. Working space is limited,
children, spouses and other non-workers will not be
granted credentials or access to media areas. Requests
for credentials should be made through e-mail at least
24 hours in advance of each game to Scott MacDonald
([email protected]). Passes will be left at WILL
CALL, located just inside the loading dock doors of the
Athletics Center, adjacent to the Lot 17 parking lot.
PARKING
A limited number of spaces in Lot 17 are made
available to media on gameday. You must be granted
permission by the athletic communications office
prior to arriving to the game. All other lots on campus
are open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis.
PRESS ROW
Oakland has press seating available on the east side
of the court in the O’rena. These seats are limited
for use by the media and working staff only. Media
overflow will be hosted on the west concourse level.
Wireless internet is available and box scores will be
passed out at each media timeout.
RELEASES/PHOTOS
All Oakland basketball releases, game notes, and
media advisories are distributed via e-mail to a list
maintained by the athletic communications office.
Media wishing to be added to this list should send a

OAKLAND BASKETBALL ALL-ACCESS
Oakland will begin its fourth season of All-Access on
Fox Sports Detroit in 2014-15. The Golden Grizzlies’
show was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2013.

A NEW HORIZON, YEAR TWO
▪ The Golden Grizzlies enter their second season inside the Horizon League and was selected to
finish seventh in the Preseason Horizon League Poll. Oakland finished in a tie for fifth place with
tournament champion Milwaukee at 7-9 (4-4 at home, 3-5 on the road).
▪ The Black and Gold have finished inside the top five of conference standings in eight straight
seasons, dating back to The Summit League. Oakland earned the No. 6 seed in the 2014 Horizon
League tournament and hosted No. 7 seed Youngstown State in the O’rena, winning an overtime
thriller, 96-92. No. 3 seed Wright State ended the Golden Grizzlies’ first season in the league with a
73-57 victory in the quarterfinals in Green Bay, Wis. The Raiders lost to No. 5 seed Milwaukee in the
title game, 69-63, in Dayton, Ohio.
▪ The Golden Grizzlies are 20-22 since becoming Division I versus Horizon League opponents. Here
is a breakdown in the D1 era (Valpo joined in ‘07-08, Youngstown State in ‘01-02); Cleveland State
(0-6), Detroit (3-2), Green Bay (3-3), Milwaukee (1-3), UIC (3-0), Valparaiso (4-2), Wright State (1-5)

FELDER NAMED HORIZON LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
▪ After a personal-best 32 points in an 89-75 overtime win over Valparaiso (1/2), sophomore Kahlil
Felder earned Horizon League Player of the Week honors on Monday. Felder, a native of Detroit,
becomes just the third Oakland player to earn the distinction in the Golden Grizzlies’ two-year
existence in the conference.
▪ Felder finished 19-for-24 from the free-throw line against the Crusaders. The 24 attempts broke
a league and school record, while the 19 makes from the charity stripe ranks second in league and
school history.
METRO SERIES AND MICHIGAN SPORTS HALL OF FAME CUP
▪ The Golden Grizzlies and Detroit Titans branded a rivalry that will include competition between
the shared 14 intercollegiate sports. Two points are awarded to the school that picks up the victory.
In the sports of cross country, golf, track and field, the school with the highest finish at the Horizon
League Championships will be awarded the two points.
▪ PASS Charters will donate $10,000 for scholarships to winning school.
▪ Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Cup will be awarded to men’s basketball team that wins series.
▪ There are a total of four points up for grabs in men’s basketball. The Golden Grizzlies will travel to
UDM on Jan. 10, and host the Titans on Feb. 15.

2-1 in double-overtime, and finished third in Horizon League Women’s Cross Country Championship,

HAPPY NEW YEAR
▪ The Golden Grizzlies have historically won at a much higher rate in January and February, once
league season begins. This is mostly due to Oakland playing tough non-conference schedules that
are full of Power 5 Conference opponents where they are 7-76 and nationally-ranked teams where
the Golden Grizzlies are 2-38.
▪ Since joining the D1 ranks in 2000, Oakland wins 40 percent of its games in November and 45
percent in December. The Golden Grizzlies then jump up to 56 percent in January and 67 percent in
February.
▪ Since 2007, the Golden Grizzlies are 43-23 (.652) in the New Year month of January. Oakland is 5-5
in the ‘New Year’ month since joining the Horizon League last season.

PETROS NAMED NABC ALLSTATE GOOD WORKS TEAM NOMINEE
▪ Oakland’s Corey Petros was selected as a nominee for the 2015 National Association of Basketball
Coaches (NABC) Allstate Good Works Team, announced by the NABC and Allstate Insurance
Company. Petros, a senior from Macomb, Mich., is 1 of 98 Division I nominees.
▪ “It’s a blessing to be a nominee for an award like this,” said Petros. “All the credit really goes to my
coaches and teammates. Without them I would not be here and would not have been nominated
for this award. I appreciate the nomination. It means a lot to me.”
▪ Petros was named to the Preseason All-Horizon League first team after leading the conference last
year with 8.2 rebounds per game. He broke the all-time school record in offensive rebounds and
ranks among the top three active players in the country with over 930 rebounds.

dedicate their limited free time to improving the lives around them.

▪ Oakland’s Kahlil Felder continues to be one of the top point guards in all of mid-major basketball.
Felder is 1 of 3 players in the country that averages at least 17.0 points and 6.0 assists per game
(Notre Dame senior Jerian Grant and Hofstra junior Juan’Ya Green).
▪ He ranks third in the NCAA with 114 assists this season and broke the Horizon League and Oakland
freshman record with 212 assists last year. He led all rookies in the NCAA and finished seventh in the
country with 6.4 assists per game in 2013-14.
▪ Felder has dished out 7 or more assists in 22 of 49 career games played. He currently leads the
country by averaging 39.3 minutes per game and accounts for 49 percent of Oakland’s offense
through scoring and assists.

▪ When Corey Petros does not get at least nine field goal attempts, the Golden Grizzlies chances of
winning drops tremendously. Oakland is 0-6 this season when the senior center does not get at least
nine shots, and are 5-5 when he does.
▪ Petros had 9 shots or more in 11 of the 13 wins the Golden Grizzlies posted last season.
▪ He tied his season high with 10 field goals made against Morehead State (12/6) and attempted a

mid-major players to watch. Felder was picked as the 47th-best mid-major player in the country,
while Petros was tabbed as one of the top mid-major big men to watch this season.
▪ Felder, a sophomore point guard from Detroit, led all freshman last season with 212 assists. He
recorded Oakland’s first triple-double against Detroit, posting 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds.
▪ A senior from Macomb, Mich., Petros led the Horizon League last season with nine doube-doubles
and 8.2 rebounds per game.
▪ Both Felder and Petros are Preseason All-Horizon League selections.
GOLDEN GRIZZLIES LAND LOCAL/REGIONAL TV DEAL
▪ Continuing the new branding and marketing strategy, Oakland University will air all of its home
men’s basketball games on 20 Detroit (WMYD-TV20) and XFINITY by Comcast. Eight of Oakland’s
15 home games will air on TV20, while all games can be seen on Comcast (Channel 900) locally and
regionally.
▪ The Golden Grizzlies can also be seen in a pair of nationally-televised games at Michigan State, 8
p.m. on ESPNU (12/14), and Arizona, 10 p.m. ET on the Pac-12 Network (12/16). The road game at
Pittsburgh (12/20) will be carried locally by Fox Sports Detroit at 4 p.m.

EXCLUSIVE COMPANY
▪ Kahlil Felder became the first true freshman to start every game since Johnathon Jones in 200607. Both made 33 starts and posted freshman records in assists, first Jones with 119 and Felder
finished with 212. Felder was named Horizon League Freshman of the Year and to the All-Freshman
Team.
▪ Felder’s 6.45 assists per game finished sixth in single-season school history, third in the Division
I era. He led the league with a career-best 12 assists in both regular season games against
Youngstown State (1/31, 3/1) and finished with a triple-double, three double-doubles and six

scoring guard, power forward and center.
▪ Brechting, a 6-foot-11 center from Cedar Springs, Mich., averaged 15.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and
3.0 blocks per game and shot 62 percent from the floor during his junior season at Cedar Springs
High School. He led the Red Hawks with 33 points, 21 rebounds and six blocked shots in a Class A
pre-district matchup last season. ESPN.com ranks Brechting as the seventh-best player in the state
of Michigan and gives him a grade of 77.
Senior season updates: Recorded a double-double in his senior season opener with 28 points, 12
rebounds and 7 blocked shots (12/9).
▪ Wilmington High School guard Cumberland is a prolific scorer, averaging 21.8 points per game
last season. The 6-foot-2 Ohio native was among the state leaders in scoring and he dished out 2.9
assists per game. Cumberland garnered all-area accolades during his junior campaign.
Senior season updates: Tallied 15 points in his opener, and 27 in game two. Became all-time leading
scorer with 27 points in his third game, surpassing the 1,400 plateau.
▪ Hill-Mais is a 6-foot-7 power forward from Greensboro, N.C. He led Page High School to the Class
4A semifinals and a No. 1 ranking for most of the season. He averaged 10.0 points, 8.0 rebounds
and 3.0 blocks per game last season as Page finished 27-3. At 240 pounds, Hill-Mais is a physical
presence inside that the Golden Grizzlies will need after Petros’ departure.
REMEMBERING THE SUMMIT LEAGUE
▪ Oakland went an astounding 70-18 over its last 88 games vs. Summit League opponents, including
the last four league tournaments. The Golden Grizzlies posted back-to-back league record 17-1
seasons in 2009-10 and ‘10-11, earning 14 and 13 seeds in the NCAA tournaments.
▪ Oakland holds the all-time Summit League record for consecutive league wins at 20 (2009-10,
‘10-11) and won 10 or more league games in seven consecutive seasons, 10 of 14. The Golden

ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Kahlil Felder scored 15 points, grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds
and had 11 assists - recording just the eighth triple-double in Div. I this season - as Oakland
beat Detroit 83-82 in overtime Friday night.
Travis Bader - who came into the game leading the NCAA in 3-pointers made (118) - hit
8 of 13 from 3-point range and scored 30 points in the win. He moved into second place with
1,189 career 3-point field goal attempts, just three shy of the all-time record held by Keydren
Clark of Saint Peter’s (2002-06).
A 3-pointer by Juwan Howard Jr., who led Detroit (12-14, 5-6 Horizon League) with 33
points, gave the Titans an 82-77 lead with 3:10 left in overtime. Oakland closed the game on a
6-0 run, capped by a jumper by Duke Mondy with 8.8 seconds left.

reg Kampe enters his 31st season as head coach of the Golden Grizzlies and is
the third-longest tenured coach at one school in Division I. Kampe led Oakland
to six championships in 14 seasons inside The Summit League, including three
NCAA tournaments (2005, ‘10, ‘11).
He became the fifth active D-I coach to win 500 games at one school, finished third
all-time in The Summit League with 147 league victories, and earned a league-best five
coach of the year selections.
Kampe led the Golden Grizzlies to a tie for fifth-place standing in their first season
inside the Horizon League with a 7-9 record. The Golden Grizzlies won their opening
round game versus Youngstown State, before falling to Wright State in the quarterfinals.

AMES, Iowa (AP) - Junior Georges Niang had a career-high 30 points and nine
rebounds as No. 14 Iowa State beat Oakland 93-82 on Friday night
UNLV transfer Bryce Dejean-Jones had 20 points in his debut for the Cyclones
(1-0), who improved to 5-0 in openers under coach Fred Hoiberg.
Iowa State sandwiched a 15-3 run around the half after allowing Oakland to tie
the score at 38-all. The Cyclones built their lead up to as much as 20 in the second
half and won comfortably behind Niang, who figures to be Iowa State’s top scoring
option this season.
Corey Petros had 25 points and Kahlil Felder scored 23 for Oakland (0-1), which
was picked seventh in the preseason Horizon League poll.
Iowa State’s offense clicked from the opening tip. However, the defense took a
bit longer to get going.
The Cyclones shot 50 percent in the first half. But they couldn’t string together
enough stops to get a significant run going, and Oakland was able to pull even just
before halftime behind strong starts from Petros and Felder.
Iowa State closed the half with a 7-0 run though, and Dejean-Jones gave the
Cyclones their first double-digit lead, 51-41, with 16:13 left.
Niang then found Dejean-Jones for an alley-oop - a sight Hoiberg will certainly
like to see more of this season. Niang’s first 3 of the year put the Cyclones up 65-50
with 11:12 to go.
Dustin Hogue had 15 points and Monte Morris had 14 for the Cyclones, who shot
5 of 9 on 3s in the second half.

Oakland: The 6-foot-10 Petros led the Horizon League in rebounding at 8.2 per
game in 2013-14 and was a preseason first-team all-league pick. He was a handful all
night for the Cyclones, who are counting on transfer Jameel McKay to shore up their
interior defense once he’s eligible on Dec. 20.
YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) - Raven Lee and Karrington Ward combined to score 46 points
as Eastern Michigan pulled away from Oakland, 89-77 on Monday night.
Ralph Hill knocked down a 3 with 2:40 left to pull Oakland within five, 79-74, but
the Eagles (2-0) closed with a 10-3 run.
Lee was 7 of 13 from the field, 3 of 6 from long range, and was a perfect 7 for
7 from the line to lead Eastern Michigan with 24 points. Ward was 8 of 15 from the
field to score 22 points and pulled down a dozen rebounds.
Max Hooper scored all his points from behind the arc, hitting 6 of 11 3-point
attempts, to score 18 points for the Golden Grizzlies (0-2). Kahlil Felder and Tommie
McCune each added 15 points.
Eastern Michigan was 30 of 61 from the field (49.2 percent) and out-rebounded
Oakland, 45-36.

ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Connar Tava scored 21 points and Tucker Haymond added
19 as Western Michigan defeated Oakland 82-71 on Wednesday night.
The pair combined to hit 15 of 20 shots as the Broncos (2-0) shot 57 percent,
making 29 of 51 shots, including 9 of 18 3-pointers. Western Michigan also went
15 of 17 from the foul line with Tava, who also grabbed 10 rebounds and had five
assists, hitting all seven of his free throws.
Tommie McCune led Oakland (0-3) with a career-high 27 points. Kahlil Felder
had 14 points, eight assists and four steals.
Thomas Wilder scored the last two baskets of the first half to give Western
Michigan a 35-29 lead. The Golden Grizzlies were within four in the second half
when Kellen McCormick made back-to-back 3-pointers for a 10-point Bronco lead.
Freshman Femi Olujobi posted an old-fashion three-point play to tie the score at
65, but the Broncos went on a quick 8-0 run to seize control of the game.
ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Kahlil Felder finished with 26 points, four steals and seven
boards but Oakland fell 88-79 to Western Carolina in double overtime on Monday
night.
James Sinclair slammed home a dunk with 23 seconds remaining in double
overtime to secure the win for the Catamounts.
Sinclair, who finished with 20 points, made two free throws with 4:37 left in the
second overtime to give the Catamounts a 76-74 lead. Oakland could not answer.
Rhett Harrelson made a 3-point jumper to give Western Carolina a 64-60 lead
with 34 seconds left in regulation.
Max Hooper made 1 of 3 free throws, but Oakland got a big offensive rebound
off the last miss and Corey Petros finished a three-point play to tie at 64 to send
the game into overtime. With the Golden Grizzlies trailing by three with under 40
seconds left in the second OT, Felder stole the ball, drove up the floor, pulled up
and hit a 3-pointer with 15 seconds remaining to send the game into the second
overtime.
Harrelson also had 20 points for Western Carolina (2-2). Corey Petros had 14
points for Oakland (0-4).

ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Corey Petros scored 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting Tuesday
night to help lift Oakland to its first win of the season with a 70-57 victory over
Chicago State in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic.
Oakland (1-4) took control with a 9-0 burst midway through the first period
sparked by a 3-pointer from Max Hooper to take a 37-28 advantage into the break
and held on to the lead the rest of the game.
Dante Williams contributed 13 points, Tommie McCune had 12 and 10 rebounds
and Kahlil Felder had 10 points and seven assists in the win. Both teams shot
comparably from the floor but Oakland sank almost twice as many from the free
throw line (17 of 28).
Chicago State (2-4) tied the game at 28-all on an Anthony Glover trey in the first
half but quickly fell behind. Clarke Rosenberg led the Cougars with 15 points.
ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - R.J. Hunter scored 29 points as Georgia State held off a late
Oakland surge for an 83-78 victory on Wednesday in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic.
Georgia State led by as many as 13 points in the second half, but Kahlil Felder
scored Oakland’s final eight points to make it a one-possession game late.
Felder made three consecutive layups for Oakland, the last to bring them within
81-76 with 1:04 left. Georgia State wound down the clock, but Kevin Ware missed a
layup and Felder made two free throws on the other end to get within 81-78.
Hunter made an easy layup with 19 seconds left, Felder missed a layup and
Georgia State ran out the clock.
Markus Crider added 17, Ware 15 and Ryan Harrow 14 for Georgia State (4-2).
Max Hooper led Oakland (1-5) with a career-high 21 points and Felder had 18.
Corey Petros added his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10
rebounds, while Dante Williams scored 14 points off the bench.

ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Dante Williams scored 20 points and Kahlil Felder blocked
the potential game-tying shot with 1 second left as Oakland held on for an 81-79 win
over Toledo on Saturday.
Corey Petros hit a short jumper to give the Golden Grizzlies (2-5) a 37-36 lead at
the half and they built that to 74-60 on Ralph Hill’s 3-pointer with 6:07 to go.
Johnathan Williams knocked down two 3-pointers as the Rockets (2-4) stormed
back. His two free throws made it 80-79 with 43 seconds to go. After a Jalen Hayes
free throw at 10 seconds, Julius Brown had a shot to tie that Felder blocked.
Petros had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Felder had 14 points, 6 rebounds,
7 assists and 3 steals. Oakland shot 55.1 percent and hit 10 of 20 3’s with Williams
going 6 of 9.
Williams had 19 points and Justin Drummond 16 for Toledo.
ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Corey Petros scored 18 points and three other Oakland
players reached double figures to roll to an 84-52 victory over Rochester College on
Wednesday night.
Petros had 14 points in the first half as Oakland built a 34-25 halftime lead. Nick
Daniels hit three treys in the second half to give Oakland a 54-32 lead with 13:18 left.
Daniels finished with 17 points and was 5 of 5 from beyond the arc.
Tommie McCune added 11 points and Jalen Hayes chipped in 10 for the Golden
Grizzlies, who were 31 of 54 from the floor for a season-high 57.4 percent. Kahlil
Felder had seven points and nine assists for Oakland (3-5).
Nick Tatu was the only Rochester player with double figures as he finished with
13 points. Milton Cribbs had nine points and seven rebounds. Matt Gold and Paris
Pereira each dished out four assists for the Warriors.

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) - Corey Petros hit a jumper in the lane with 1.6 second left in
overtime to give Oakland a 70-68 victory over Morehead State on Saturday.
Lyonell Gaines scored four points in overtime for Morehead State, including a
putback with 32 seconds left to tie it before Petros hit the game-winner.
Petros had 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Kahlil Felder 13 points and seven
assists to lead Oakland (4-5).
Angelo Warner scored four points during an 11-2 run to give Morehead State
a 61-59 lead with 2:06 remaining in regulation. Dante Williams split a pair of free
throws and Felder and Petros scored to give Oakland back the lead, 64-61 with 38
seconds left. Corban Collins drained a trey to tie it with 29 seconds to go, and Petros
missed a layup to send it to overtime.
Gaines had 18 points and 10 boards to lead Morehead State (4-7).
Nick Daniels was the final Oakland player to reach double figures, finishing with
10 points. The Golden Grizzlies led by as many as 18 points in the first half and held
the Eagles to 22 at the break, the least amount allowed by Oakland this season.
Oakland is riding a three-game winning streak and is 4-1 in its last five games.
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Denzel Valentine scored 19 points with 5-for-6 3-point
shooting and Michigan State beat Oakland 87-61 on Sunday night.
Branden Dawson had 15 points, Bryn Forbes and Marvin Clark Jr. 12 each and
Matt Costello 11 for the balanced the Spartans (7-3).
Dante Williams scored 15 to lead the Golden Grizzlies (4-6). Corey Petros and
Kahlil Felder each had 13. Petros also pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Spartans built a 13-point lead in the first half and repeated that feat in the
second half en route to the 26-point margin of victory.
Michigan State shot 58.8 percent from beyond the arc and 55.7 percent from the
field, assisting on 25 of 34 baskets.
The Spartans also had 10 steals, contributing to 15 Oakland turnovers.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Freshman Stanley Johnson matched his season high with
18 points and the No. 3-ranked Wildcats wrapped up their nonconference home
schedule with a 101-64 win over Oakland on Tuesday night.
The Wildcats (11-0) shot out to a 26-4 lead and were up by 33-8 with 7:14 left in
the first half.
Brandon Ashley added and Gabe York added 15 points apiece for the Wildcats.
Kahlil Felder scored 20 to lead Oakland (4-7). Corey Petros finished with 12
points and eight rebounds and Tommie McCune added 10 points for the Golden
Grizzlies.
Arizona held Oakland to a season-low 35.6 percent shooting. The Wildcats
dominated on the boards 50-22, led by Ashley’s eight rebounds, and in points off
turnovers 21-4.
Arizona put this one away in a hurry. Oakland missed 16 straight shots after Jalen
Hayes’ opening basket as the Wildcats blew open a 24-3 lead. York’s two free throws
gave Arizona its biggest lead of the half, 33-8, with 7:14 left in the half.
Oakland mounted a 12-3 run but still trailed 36-20 after Tommie McCune’s
driving layup 3:31 before the break. McConnell’s steal and layup on a goal-tending
call, followed by Ashley’s tip-in, put Arizona back up 41-20 and the Wildcats led 4525 at the break.
The Golden Grizzlies shot 26 percent in the first half (8-for-31), making six of
their last 14 after their 1-for-17 start.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - James Robinson scored 18 points, including five in the final
minutes of regulation to send the game into overtime, to help PITTSBURGH avoid an
upset by beating Oakland 81-77 on Saturday.
Robinson drove to the basket for a layup and drew a foul to tie the game at 70
after Oakland pulled ahead 70-63 with five minutes to play in regulation. He followed
with a pair of free throws that tied the game again and ultimately sent it to overtime.
The point guard said the key to his heady play down the stretch was just “staying
confident” in what the team wants to do.
Michael Young led Pitt (8-3) with 19 points and seven rebounds while Cameron
Wright and Chris Jones each scored 16.
Kahlil Felder finished with 23 points to lead Oakland (4-8).
Felder kept his team ahead throughout the first half, scoring 14 points in the
game’s first 20 minutes. He put the Golden Grizzlies ahead 22-15 with a 3-pointer to
cap an 8-0 run, then gave his team a 29-21 lead with another with three minutes left
in the half.
Jalen Hayes scored 16 points and Max Hooper added 12 off the bench.
The Panthers closed the first period on a 12-5 run to cut their deficit to a point,
34-33, capped by a tic-tac-toe inbounds play from Wright to Jones to Young for a
buzzer-beating jumper to end the half.
The teams traded baskets to start the second half with neither team leading by
more than four points through the first 11 minutes. The game featured seven ties
and 23 lead changes.
Pitt took a 59-55 lead at the 11-minute mark but the Golden Grizzlies reclaimed
it at 61-59 with 9:05 left on a putback by Dante Williams. The basket was part of a
13-2 run, giving them a 68-61 edge with 5:25 left.
The Panthers managed to tie the game again at 72 in the final minutes after
Robinson converted a three-point play on a drive to the basket then made a pair of
free throws. After Felder was called for a travel, Wright missed a midrange jumper as
time expired to send the game to overtime.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson redshirt sophomore Jaron Blossomgame scored a
career-high 26 points to lead the Tigers to a 70-60 win over Oakland on Monday
night at Littlejohn Coliseum.
The Tigers (7-4) led by as many as 15 points in the second half, but held off an
Oakland comeback attempt that cut the Clemson lead to 56-52 on a pair of Kahlil
Felder free throws with 5:46 to play.
Clemson answered with a pair of 3-pointers from senior point guard Rod Hall and
Damarcus Harrison to stem the rally.
Landry Nnoko added 17 points and seven rebounds for Clemson, while Donte
Grantham added 12 points and eight boards.
Felder led the Golden Grizzlies (4-9) with 22 points.
The Tigers went on a 10-0 run over the first four minutes of the game and never
trailed.
Blossomgame’s dunk with 12 minutes left in the first half gave Clemson an 18-5
lead. Oakland rallied to cut the deficit to 25-22 when Jalen Hayes’ runner in the lane
ended an 8-3 run with 3:40 to play in the half.
But Clemson answered with 11 unanswered points over the next three minutes
and led 36-26 at the break.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - The Golden Grizzlies got within seven late in second half
but lost to No. 15 Maryland 72-56 on Saturday.
Jalen Hayes scored 13 points and Kahlil Felder added 12 for Oakland (4-10).
Dante Williams and Corey Petros each scored 11 for the Golden Grizzlies, who lost
five consecutive games.
Jake Layman had 15 points and 12 rebounds to help No. 15 Maryland extend its
winning streak to five games.
Dez Wells, who was the Terrapins’ leading scorer over the past two seasons, was
back in the lineup after missing the past seven games with a fractured right wrist.
Wells came off the bench and finished with 10 points.
Freshman Melo Trimble was 5 of 6 from 3-point range and had 17 points for
Maryland (12-1). It was Terps final non-conference game before their Big 10 opener
Tuesday against Michigan State.
A pair of 3-pointers by Dion Wiley and Trimble gave Maryland a 19-8 lead
midway through the first half. After missing 10 of their opening 14 field goal
attempts, the Golden Grizzlies settled down and a jumper by Felder cut the margin
to six with 7:23 left.
Mary land answered with an 18-4 run and led 39-19 at halftime. Layman
and Trimble each scored 11 points and the Terps limited Oakland to 8 of 29 (27.6
percent) from the field.
Maryland stayed in control and a jumper by Wells provided a 46-32 margin with
14:07 remaining. Oakland played better offensively in the second half and a layup by
Hayes cut the lead to 56-47 with 7:46 left.
Trimble responded with another 3-pointer on the ensuing possession. Wells then
dunked over a pair Oakland defenders and then his layup increased the margin to
67-56 with just under three minutes remaining and the Terps were never threatened
again.
Terrapins guard/forward Dez Wells entered the game with 14:13 left in the first
half and showed no ill-effects from the fractured right wrist that forced him to miss
the past five weeks. The Terps had won six of seven games without Wells, but his
presence was a boost to the lineup with his ability to set the offense and create
shots. Wells scored 10 points in 22 minutes.

ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Kahlil Felder scored a career-high 32 points, including 11 in
overtime, and Oakland put away Valparaiso 89-75 in the Horizon League opener for
both teams on Friday night.
Felder went 19 of 24 on free throws, grabbed six rebounds and dished out five
assists. The 19 free throws made matches a Horizon League single-game record, and
the 24 free-throw attempts sets new single-game league and school record. Jalen
Hayes had 16 points with eight boards and Nick Daniels chipped in 14 points for the
Golden Grizzlies (5-10, 1-0).
Tevonn Walker led the Crusaders (13-3, 0-1) with 22 points and Keith Carter
added 18.
Oakland jumped out to a comfortable lead early, but had to rally late as
Valparaiso fought back to take a 65-58 lead with 3:54 left. Daniels hit a 3-pointer
for the lead and split a pair of free throws, but Carter followed with a late 3 to force
overtime.
Felder hit a key jumper and sank 9 of 10 free throws to seal it in the extra period.
CLEVELAND (AP) - Despite rallying from 18 points down in the first half, Oakland
dropped a 65-61 game to Cleveland State in Horizon League action on Thursday
night. The Golden Grizzlies had three chances in the final 74 seconds to take the
lead.
Andre Yates scored all 14 of his points for Cleveland State in the second half to
lead the Vikings to a 3-0 start in Horizon League play.
Yates picked up two quick fouls and played only about 4 minutes in the first half,
but Cleveland State (9-8, 3-0 Horizon League) opened up a 19-2 lead as Oakland
started the game shooting 1-of-10 from the field.
Vinny Zollo’s 3 with 10:18 left in the half made it 24-6 before the Vikings missed
their next 10 field goals and Oakland (5-11, 1-1) used a 22-3 run to take its first lead,
28-27, with 3 minutes left.
Cleveland State took a 34-30 lead into halftime.
Yates, who played 18 minutes in the second half, scored eight - including backto-back 3’s - during a 12-4 run that pushed Cleveland State’s lead to 53-42 with 13
minutes left.
Jalen Hayes’ layup with 2:15 to go pulled Oakland within 63-61, but the Golden
Grizzlies missed their final five shots.
Dante Williams finished with a team-best 15 points, while Kahlil Felder added
14 points and nine assists.
