Basic Phlebotomy Skills
This program is suitable for health care personnel
who are required to undertake phlebotomy as part of
their clinical practice.
The program covers theoretical concepts and
practical skills that underpin accessing venous
circuulation to withdraw blood specimens.Iincludes
blood function and composition, coagulation,
anticoagulants, types of blood collection tubes,
laboratory requirements, safety practices in
phlebotomy, infection control, engineering controls,
specimen collection – order of draw, patient
identification documentation and specimen labeling,
storage and transportation
IV Cannulation Workshop
This program is suitable for RNs and EEN’s and other
health care clinicians wishing to expand their scope of
practice to include intravenous cannulation. It includes a
self directed learning package approach to the theoretical
concepts that underpin intravenous cannulation, combined
with a practical intravenous cannulation workshop and
mandatory supervised clinical assessments. Recertification
Skill Assessment is available for those who are seeking to
maintain current competence verification.

This comprehensive Self-Directed Learning
Package is designed to assist Registered
Nurses and Midwives develop critical
thinking skills and demonstrate knowledge
in assessment, management, maintenance
and care of Central Venous Access
Devices (CVADs). A workshop also
accompanies this package where nurses
