This discovery revolutionized the understanding of language processing, speech production and comprehension, and the effects of damage to this area. He also pursued an interest in anthropology and in 1958 founded the Society of Anthropology in Paris. He developed numerous ways to analyze the form, structure and topography of the brain and skull to identify and differentiate human races, developing new measuring instruments and numerical indices.
