The Seminar sponsored by the UGC with academic assistance from the Kerala Mathematical Association (KMA) is organized in connection with the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the College. ALOYSIUS COLLEGE EDATHUA St. Aloysius College, Edathua founded in 1965 and is managed by St. George Forane Church, Edathua is affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University , Kottayam. The College is situated in Edathua panchayath of Kuttanad Taluk in the lake district of Alappuzha. It is the only temple of higher learning of its kind in the entire region of the granary of Kerala, Kuttanad. The terrace of the main building of the college offers a vantage for the panoramic view of the paddy fields clothed in the richest green. The College was upgraded in 1977 and post graduate courses were started in 1984. It has now become a well established NAAC accredited centre of learning offering 9 under graduate, 5 post graduate and 1 PhD programme. The College is now looking forward to the Golden Jubilee of its establishment with a variety of academic and non academic programme The College is well connected by road and is away approximately 13 kms from Tiruvalla, 30 kms from Alappuzha and 10 kms from Haripad. POST GRADUATE DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS The Department of Mathematics was established in 1980 and was upgraded as a post graduate department in 1995 by introducing MSc. Mathematics. Rooted in the philosophy of holistic learning, the Department has consistently striven to set high standards in teaching and mentoring the students. Our alumni working across spectrum as effective teachers and efficient administrators have been a testimony to this accomplishment. ABOUT THE SEMINAR Graph theory as a branch of Mathematics has grown in exponential terms from its initial stages of Seven Bridges of Königsberg paradox. Its wide and interesting applications in social and electronic networks, physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, genetics and computer sci- ence assure this branch of the ‘Queen of Science’ a bright future. The three-day national seminar intends to highlight the recent developments in the area and also envisages discussing and sharing its applications to real world problems. The seminar also aims to promote research aptitude among students and young teachers by giving them an opportunity to listen to eminent scholars and also by giving a platform to present their research findings. PAPER PRESENTATION Those who wish to present research papers are requested to send the abstract of their papers (not exceeding 200 words) to [email protected] . Last date of submission of abstract is January 15, 2015. The full text of the paper is to be submitted preferably before the seminar. The proceedings of the seminar will be published.
