THERMAL MANAGEMENT is critically important to achieve the reliability expected from LED lighting. Extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, are common in high bay environments and can have a negative impact on the performance of electrical components. Using the most advanced computer modeling available, our engineers incorporated metal only where it is most efficient. They also used electronics that actively respond to the environment providing optimal light output without sacrificing life. This fixture intelligence allows the PROTEON LED high bay to operate in a wide spectrum of temperatures ranging from -13°F (-25°C) to 131°F (55°C), ensuring years of trouble-free operation. THROUGH CONDUCTION AND CONVECTION heat is transferred away from temperaturesensitive components. Aluminum conducts heat three times greater than steel making it the ideal heat sink material. The PROTEON LED fixture uses an aluminumextruded housing weighing 22 lbs. with more than 2500 square inches of surface area. This robust heat sink reduces the temperature of electrical components and thermal stress caused by frequent switching that is common with occupancy sensors.
