and research in the persisting and emerging threats and challenges in Indian Railways Health

Kolkata was formerly known as Calcutta and it is the capital city of the West Bengal. This beautiful city is located
on the east bank of the Hooghly River The city port of Kolkata is the India’s oldest operating port. It is the metropolitan and 3rd busiest city after Delhi & Mumbai.
The term Kolkata is derived from the word ‘Kalik Khetro’, which means ‘The field of Goddess Kali’. In the late
17thcentury, the villages of Kolkata were ruled by the ‘Nawabs of Bengal’. East India company also had it’s headquarter in Calcutta before independence. At present it is the principal cultural, educational and industrial centre
of the East.
